The SpaceBuilt in 1928 as Sunday School & Kindergarten, later used as a dance studio & recently renovated, the Hall now offers private luxury studio style accommodation. The large main hall has lounge seating, dining table, and desk plus the “bedroom” which is screened off by a long well-stocked double sided bookcase. For more casual meals dine at the granite topped island bench in the fully equipped kitchen or relax in the courtyard. There's a Queen size bed and 2 king singles. The large living and dining area is warmed by a wonderful gas log fire. Interior décor is elegant, luxurious and welcoming, the timber floors are scattered with large and deep-pile hemp and hide rugs. All lighting is dimmable (yes even the bathroom) for a romantic night in. The tiled kitchen, entry hall, bathroom and powder-room/laundry can be closed off with double doors but the main area is effectively open plan. The main bathroom has a large walk-in shower and deep freestanding bath, overhead heating and heated towel rail. Entry is via a separate entry hall, there’s also a second toilet /powder room/ laundry. Its a couple of minutes walk to the cosmopolitan North Hobart Restaurant strip with galleries, shops and theatre plus pubs, gourmet grocery, restaurants and cafes offering a myriad of cuisine styles. There’s breakfast cafes and a park with playground nearby, the CBD and waterfront are about 15 minutes walk or about $8 by taxi, MONA is 10-15 min drive but the ferry is more fun!. The NeighborhoodNorth Hobart is vibrant & busy, it's a foodies paradise with restaurants, pubs & cafes nearby, yet the street where the Hall is located is a no-thru-road so its relatively quiet. The iconic State Cinema for mainstream or arthouse movies is 2 minutes walk away, and art galleries are also close. Easy (flat for Hobart!) 15 minute stroll to city or waterfront. 10-15 minute drive to MONA but the ferry is highly recommended. Getting AroundBus to CBD or suburbs is nearby & runs every 10 mins for most of the day, but a lot of things are in walking distance. The SpaceShare an artist/academic's lovely 1885 home in central Hobart. The house has fantastic views and is an easy walk to town, or a stroll to the North Hobart cafe/restaurant strip, and if you feel so inclined, the bushland of Mt Knocklofty is just a 15 minute walk away too. And the renowned Hill Street Grocer is a 5 minute walk if you need to stock up on quality foodstuffs. Enjoy the company of Mitch the dog, a sweet natured and well behaved kelpie cross who will try and entertain you with a selection of her favourite toys, and Pablo the cat who loves a smooch. It is a vegetarian household, (if you're a carnivore you'll need to engage your inner vego while at home!) and if you're lucky I may just rustle up some home cooked vegan treats. A light breakfast is provided of muesli/toast, fruit and soy milk (or other non-dairy milk - if you have a preference please let me know!), but as I'm a committed vegan if you'd like cows' milk you will need to supply your own. Your room is downstairs and at the front of the house and mine is upstairs at the back of the house, so we won't be under each others' feet. I also have a separate living room/study upstairs, so if you want to watch trashy television/DVDs and worry it might offend my impeccable taste, you can do so without concern, in the knowledge I have an escape! (though I'm not averse to trash anyway...) There is only one bathroom, but there are two separate toilets, and the bathroom has a lovely deep bath. I supply body wash/shower gel, shampoo and conditioner for guest use. The kitchen is light and bright and well appointed, with doors that open onto a glass deck where you can sit and enjoy the views of the city while sipping your morning coffee made on the espresso machine. A light breakfast (muesli/toast/tea/coffee/soy or other non-dairy milk) on a help-yourself basis is included in the price, as is all linen. Free wireless internet too. Please note that I am a busy person so I generally can't take last-minute bookings. I need at least a couple of days to make sure the room (and house) are ready for guests! Interaction with GuestsYour host, Yvette, is well travelled and enjoys meeting new folk, but is also happy to let you be, rather than smother you with attention! If you're into art Yvette will enjoy keeping you abreast of the local exhibitions and exhibition openings where you can sip a glass of wine while enjoying the artwork in local galleries.

The SpaceThe house is a federation style semi-detached cottage in North Hobart that has been thoughtfully renovated. It has a large comfortable living area and a modern kitchen with all mod cons, plus 2 bedrooms. The larger bedroom has a double futon style bed and the other has a fold down couch bed. There is a separate laundry and a bathroom with shower. Facing the sunny north east is a private deck with outdoor setting and a small garden courtyard. Cozy gas central heating makes it a great house for all seasons. Wi-fi, and the use of 2 bikes is included in the rent. It’s a secure and private inner city location that is ideally situated for exploring Hobart. Guest AccessGuests have access to the whole house which includes front and back decks Interaction with GuestsWhen guests are in the house I'm usually away for work or fun, so interaction is mostly via email. I value easy communication with guests and enjoy the rapport that often develops. Questions big and small are all welcome. The NeighborhoodA five minute walk gets you to a whole string of restaurants and coffee shops. In fact, for good coffee, there are even closer places. Try to fit in a visit to the State Cinema, another five minute walk up the road. It's much more than just a movie theatre, and taking a glass of wine in to enjoy with the film is only one of its attractions. For me, the walk up to the Domain and then down through the bush to the Botanic Gardens is a real treat and only takes thirty minutes each way. Getting AroundA 5 minute walk away is the North Hobart strip with its cafes, restaurants, shops, pubs and iconic State Cinema. A 15 minute walk takes you into Hobart central and 30 minutes to the waterfront. It's also five minutes to a bus stop where buses leave every 10 minutes going to the city or out to the northern suburbs. In the other direction, the house is only a 10 minutes walk to the Queen’s domain and 30 to the beautiful Botanic Gardens, Cornelian Bay with its renowned Boat House restaurant, or bushwalks on Mt Stuart.

The SpacePLS NOTE: COST - There is no extra cost for a couple using the downstairs bedroom. The extra is incurred when the second bedroom is used. INTERNET We have Wifi. Now to the house... Walk through the fiery red gate and white picket fence, past the front cottage garden and through the sassy red front door into a hallway we used as a study nook. If you need to work or want to send emails telling everyone what a great time you're having, this is the spot to do it: sitting on an old wooden chair at an antique cedar desk, complete with lamp in front of a bookcase crammed with books. The bathroom has an antique claw-foot bath we rescued from a Tasmanian paddock and restored to its former glory. There's a spacious walk-in shower, a heater to keep you warm on chilly mornings, Italian tiles and a nook thingi to hang your clothes or towels. There's soap, toilet paper, and washing powder. Hidden behind a cupboard is the washing machine/dryer with washing powder and just outside the door, if you fancy drying your clothes in the fresh air, a clothes line. The downstairs bedroom is all-white, a charming space to relax and dream. Plenty of room for your clothes, electric blanket on the comfortable queen-size bed. There's a woollen doona and comfy pillows …bliss! Upstairs, via the original, steep wooden staircase (it is steep, so not for the faint hearted! But has a hand rail to hang onto) is a quaint but surprisingly large second bedroom with Tas Oak floors, a pitched roof, chair, double bed and all-white bedding. This room is where I wrote some of my books. Want to lie on a bean bag or Afghan cushion and rest while you order a glass of wine or grapes from the kitchen below? Duck your head and crawl into the intriguing little alcove off the stairs. Kids love it – adults love it more! Downstairs, walk through wooden French doors into the spacious lounge/kitchen and dining room. Flooded with sunlight, this is a gorgeous and warm space. Leather couches to sink into, television, DVD's and CD's (remember them??) Fabulous heaters keep you warm as toast throughout the house. The kitchen has everything a chef desires: gas cooktop, Smeg dishwasher, fridge, island bench, and quality appliances at your fingertips, including white plates, cutlery, salad bowls, pots and glasses. Brew up a coffee or make a cup (or pot) of tea on us. There's sugar, salt and pepper … and olive oil and vinegar for your salad dressing (if you can be bothered throwing a salad together!) A wooden table seats six, and an old sideboard houses cookbooks, placemats and game. Walk out onto a large timber deck from this dining/kitchen/lounge space through glass French doors that open wide in summer to let the cool breeze in. Fire up a barby if you choose or just sit at the table for six under the large umbrella. High walls, painted in a restful Mediteranean colour and adorned with mirrors, offer perfect privacy. The next level has a seating area overlooking a garden of fruit trees (bare in winter) and a lovely fountain. We can accommodate babies and toddlers with a high chair, Portacot, sheets and blankets. The Tas Oak floors are lime-washed throughout. There is some original artwork on the walls from the owner's overseas travels, including a gorgeous collage from a talented Tasmanian artist. Plus, an absolute bonus in a house so close to the city - car spaces for two cars! Now to one of the best bits this cottage has to offer: location, location, location! She is an easy 12 or so minute stroll to the heart of Hobart city, Salamanca (famous for its Saturday market) and docks. It is also, literally around the corner from everything that fabulous North Hobart has to offer: Italian, Indian, Asian restaurants; cafes; a wine bar where the beautiful people drink; hotels (one with live band every night); bottle shops (one which boasts the best wine choice in Hobart) and the iconic State cinema where you can browse in the bookstore before grabbing a vino or beer and sink into the leather seats to watch your fave movie. Or if you want to walk ten steps, you can stagger out the front door and turn right to get the best scallops in town at the old pub on the corner. MONA, that world-famous artistic ode to Sex and Death on the River Derwent is a ten minute drive away; Richmond, famed for its village atmosphere and convict cottages, twenty minutes. This is Hobart. No traffic jams. You can breathe again! Gay friendly, this house really has a welcoming and lovely ambience. We don't mind if you smoke outside and it's great for dinner parties - or just to kick back in and de-stress. The cottage and outdoor area/garden is much, much larger than it appears from the street - a surprising space of tranquil warmth. Think that just about covers it. Don't forget to sign the guest book that's on the desk. Welcome to Hobart - and Welcome home! Guest AccessSecure keyless access - but we always try to greet guests in person if at all possible Interaction with GuestsFeel free to contact via email with any queries regarding the cottage. Emergency numbers are in the information booklet. I will be available via email or email for emergencies. The NeighborhoodEverything! It's funky, Safe, close to city and in the beating heart of the restaurant strip. Getting AroundBus stop: 100 metres. North Hobart strip: Around the corner. City/Salamanca: Less than ten dollars in a taxi. Space for two cars right outside the front door.

Other Things to NoteWe live in the middle of a steep hill, but we do offer an off street car spot for ease of access. Once in the driveway access into the house is easy. But if you are on foot you may get a bit of a sweat up, as it is approximately a 50m climb up the hill. We like our hill as we gain great views and sun shine. Our backyard is steep in spots with a 'flat-ish' grassed area just off the kitchen. The yard is fully fenced.

The SpaceThe 'base' rate works on the premise that the 'MAIN' bedroom is used for the first 1-2 people - though it can accommodate 3. This is a King bedroom with en-suite - with a split King bed (so can be made up as a King or as Two Singles). There is also a single bed in the annex of this room for a third person - preferably a child. Access to free Netflix is available in this room. The extra person rate of $60 is for all extra persons (adults or children 4 years old and over) after the first 1 - 2 persons using the Main Bedroom. If you utlise the second bedroom (and main bathroom) the minimum charge is $100AUD for 1 person or $120AUD for two persons. The charge for the third bedroom is $60 per person. The second and third bedrooms both have Queen beds and share the main bathroom, and there is a fold out single bed in the second bedroom if required. In any event, when you make a booking you will not be sharing with strangers all bookings are for up to seven people travelling together in a group. If you are travelling with a child 3 years old and under sharing in the room with you they would be free, but I would need to adjust the pricing manually once you make an enquiry through the system. I am happy to provide a high chair, backpack pram and a portacot if you need them. Great location, best pub for local and interstate bands just around the corner - very good coffee nearby - though there is a Nespresso in the kitchenette if you need a late night top-up. Easy downhill walk to the city and Salamanca and the waterfront. The entire house comprises 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. I occupy one bedroom and one bathroom downstairs in a separate flat - utilising a separate entrance. You might see me from time to time - based largely on whatever you are comfortable with. The kitchenette is not suitable for cooking up a storm. It has a convection microwave, sandwich maker, toaster, kettle, rice cooker and egg cooker, indoor-outdoor BBQ - and fridge. This area is for your sole use. Shampoo/conditioner/body wash provided - all organic - and no chemicals whatsoever are used in the house or in cleaning the linen. Generous Tasmanian and Organic continental breakfast provisions included. Guest AccessUse of entire top floor - verandah, bedrooms (obviously) and bathrooms as booked, plus kitchenette and large lounge area downstairs (Kitchen not suitable for cooking on a large scale). Separate entrance to the house. Interaction with GuestsI have worked in the tourism sector for 30 years plus. I am from Hobart - albeit with a 25 year gap spent overseas and in Queensland - I am happy to have a chat and offer suggestions but also happy to stay out of your way - not offended at all if you just want to keep to yourselves. The NeighborhoodOlder established area - period homes - great access to city and North Hobart restaurant strip. Street will be quiet in the evenings but just around the corner things liven up considerably. There is a fantastic pub just around the corner - open 7 days - great food and bands. Or you can walk on another two minutes and there is a myriad of restaurants and cafes to choose from. Getting AroundBus every ten minutes (7am to 7pm) at the end of the street to take you to the city centre - if you don't want to walk the 13 minutes it takes to get there. You could also get the bus to MONA (northern suburbs) easily enough. It is about 30 minutes by Metro bus - the bus stop is a three minute walk from my place. Alternatively it is a 15 minute drive - and around $25AUD in a cab to MONA from the house or you could walk to the waterfront and get the MONA ferry. Other Things to NoteGenerous Tasmanian and Organic continental breakfast provisions included in the Guest kitchenette. There is parking available on-site - plus on street parking. The on street parking is on a 2 hour maximum basis from 0800 to 1800 weekdays, so in theory you can park on the street from 4pm to 10am on weekdays and all day/night on the weekends. You do need to let me know if you need to use the on-site carpark (maximum of one vehicle per booking). Space for standard sized vehicle only - does NOT accommodate 4WD vehicles nor multi seat people movers.

The SpaceBuilt in the late 1800's the house has a sense of history mixed with a relaxed, comfortable feel. Newly carpeted and painted (on the inside) and with ducted heating to each room the house has a good feel all year round. The dining room is casual and joined to a fully functioning kitchen, the dining table seats ten so eating in is just as easy as heading down to the many restaurants in the North Hobart strip. There is a large lounge room upstairs with a T.V., board games two seating areas and a book swapping shelf in case you finish the novel you brought and are keen to swap it for a new one. The west facing balcony is the perfect place to watch the sun go down with you favourite beverage. Outside there is oodles of fully fenced space which we are in the process of transforming from a yard into a garden, so children can run off a bit of holiday energy in safety while you relax. We will provide you with linen, towels and hand soap. Guest AccessThe whole house and yard is yours to enjoy. There is parking out the back (which is not undercover) or on the street ( two hour parking between 8am and 6pm). The driveway is narrow so be carful when heading down to the parking spaces. Interaction with GuestsAlthough we don't live on the property we are only a phone call away and are happy to help you with anything you need. The NeighborhoodNestled between North Hobart and Hobart the area is one of the older ones. The street is largely defined by the large sandstone Greek orthodox church that sits proudly at the southern end of the street. Church street is sunny and well positioned if you want to walk to town or use public transport. Getting AroundThere is a bus every 10 minutes from 7am to 7pm on nearby Elizabeth street to take you to the city if you do not want to walk the 15 minutes. You can also catch a bus to MONA (Northern suburbs) easily enough. It is about 45 minutes on the no. 42 bus and takes 45 minutes and will drop you at the front entrance. Alternatively a cab there costs about $25 Other Things to NoteFor those of you who are interested in art, Handmark Gallery at Salamanca place is the origin of much of the art featured in the house. It is a 20 minute walk or a short bus ride and well worth a look. Salamanca place is also the location of the popular Saturday market. Capulus (take away) coffee is just around the corner in Tasma street, they open early if you wake up with an urge ... the coffee is great. 'Fuel so good' is your closest cafe on Elizabeth street and if you love organic food you really should try it. For great (slightly more indulgent and not for kids) food and wine the best new little restaurant is Templo on Patrick street but don't forget to book I am not the only one who thinks it good. The Farm Gate Market in the CBD on Sundays is where local growers, bakers and food makers sell their wares. The historic and much loved State cinema in the North Hobart shopping strip is Hobart's only independent cinema and has a lovely book store attached. Hobart now has lots of little festivals so don't forget to check out if there are any on while you are in town. Last of all and I am sure I hardly need to mention it but don't forget to go to MONA gallery.

The SpaceThe apartment has whitewashed sandstone and timber feature walls, plush new carpet and baltic floorboards, up-cycled furnishings and artwork by contemporary Tasmanian artists (including Matt.) The lounge has two comfy couches (one folds out to a double sofa bed with an inner-spring mattress), a Sony Bravia telly, wifi, books and games and a desk. A heat pump keeps it toasty and there's also a cute little wood heater for extra ambience! We’ve equipped the kitchen with a microwave, toaster, kettle, gas cooktop, small fridge and basic cooking supplies and there is both a breakfast bar and dining table. The local cafes do awesome breakfasts but we do supply you with some things to get you started, such as real coffee, a selection of teas, milk, a small loaf of bread, muesli, yoghurt and jams. The bathroom is a cosy space with a walk-in shower, loo, lovely deep bath and two handbasins. We supply towels, bathroom toiletries and a hairdryer. Please note that the ceiling is quite low so if you’re say 6’2’’ you might find it a bit tricky! Sleeping facilities are flexible, with a double bed in the separate bedroom, the double sofa bed in the lounge room and a single bed in an alcove just outside the main bedroom. Please note there is no door to this single bed area, but there is a curtain for privacy. In the bedroom you'll find a large wardrobe, a chest of drawers and an iron and ironing board. Guests have access to a small shared garden space that includes a bench and table/chairs. You’re welcome to share our clothes line if you want to do some hand washing. (There is a laundromat a short walk away and if your stay is a week or more you can use our washing machine upstairs.) Guest AccessYou have your own private entrance to the apartment, via steps down into the back yard from Wignall Street, or a path at the side of the main house on Argyle Street. There are usually ample (free) car spots available on the street. You're welcome to share our small garden and help yourself to the herbs and salad mix. It's always worth asking if you can check in earlier or later than the specified times as we like to be as flexible as possible. Interaction with GuestsWe live upstairs so we're usually close by if you have any questions. Otherwise, we will respect your privacy. One of us will usually be here to welcome you but if not, we'll make arrangements with you to access the apartment. The NeighborhoodNorth Hobart is a vibrant, friendly and eclectic suburb. If you’re looking for somewhere that is within walking distance to great restaurants, bars, pubs and the State Cinema and bookshop then our location is ideal. On the weekends there's the Salamanca and Farm Gate markets and we're also close to hospitals, the Aquatic Centre, the beautiful Botanical Gardens and Cornelian Bay. If you're planning to visit MONA, you can walk to the ferry terminal in 25 minutes or drive to the museum itself in 15. We're also close by to the bike track. Getting AroundHobart is a great city to walk around and there are some lovely walking tracks relatively close by. There are regular bus services into the city as well as the airport shuttle, and cab services. There is a bike lane that goes right down to the waterfront, and a bike path that takes you past the Botanical Gardens and right out to MONA. We're a cycling family so we can give you the lowdown on the best places to ride, whether on the road or the trails. We might be able to help out with a bike or two for you to borrow as well. We're also a convenient base if you are exploring further afield, say the Derwent and Huon Valleys, Bruny Island and the East Coast. Other Things to NoteIf you are an artist or art-lover you might be interested in visiting Matt's studio, on an 8-acre block at Glaziers Bay in the Huon Valley. We also have some very basic accommodation available there in an old apple pickers' hut if you're looking for a different experience.
