The SpaceOur Blackbird Studio space is annexed to Historic Stables and Bakehouse from the 1880's. Former guises have seen this space morph from a workman's "lean to" and stable hands storage area, a manly tool shed, a musical repair shop, an Artist studio and finally converted into a groovy atmospheric studio espace dans la ville; "space in the city". Your home away from home comprises of a sunny courtyard leading through to your own atelier, complete with En-suite, kitchenette and living space. Comfortably fitted out with modern amenities as well as an eclectic collection of one off pieces. You will enjoy the Queen size bed, Chaise lounge and dining space inside, as well as alfresco seating in the courtyard. All linen is provided as well as a collection of provisions to get your holiday started on a homely, welcome note. A petite and comfortable private stay for guests who want to be out exploring the main attractions of Hobart. Within walking distance to local public transport 2 mins, and only 20 mins walk to the city and waterfront as well as the popular Salamanca precinct & MONA ferry terminal. This studio space will suit single travellers or a a couple. All on one level it's easy access. Styled as our Artists studio in the city, this compact "bed sit" will give you a cosy and well priced place to call home while you visit Hobart. However, we know you can easily create a feast from the local deli to augment your forays into the city for great eating options. Local eats (with in 500 m) include 2 cafes, a fish / seafood restaurant, A French restaurant, Pub grub, Thai / Asian mix as well as an IGA and gourmet Deli. Please note this is a non smoking property. Thank you. Guest AccessYou will enjoy the studio and large courtyard space as part of the layout included in your accommodation. In passing it's great to meet and have a chat, esp' if you would like some helpful travel tips or local knowledge. We like people to feel they are really private and can relax in their space without being having to be social or bothered by hosts. The NeighborhoodOur neighbourhood is a leafy, village style suburb in Hobart There are lots of beautiful historic homes with stunning gardens and an array of small shops as well as cafes and restaurants. There are historic, world heritage sites including The Famous Cascade brewery and the Female Factory both within a 20 min walk along a leafy rivulet track. There are wallabies and trout to be seen if your lucky. The locals are friendly and you'll find a village fair on the last Sat of the month, in the historic church grounds, Fossick in the antique shop and the local "vinnies" store, several guests have collected quiet a few goodies when staying! Getting AroundThere are buses which stop directly across the main road , usually on the hour but it;s an easy walk to the Waterfront, Salamanca and the Hobart CBD (approx 20 mins) and a taxi will cost approx $7- $10 if you would like a ride home. Other Things to NoteSorry there is no parking on site. There is parking on the quiet side St, right next to the entry. Its "first come first served" basis, but usually it's not a issue and there are no metered areas on our street. There is a timed space. during the day from 8 am - 6 pm. However, its a generous 2 hour limit, so you'll find if you depart by 10 am and return to park around 4 pm, you'll have no trouble. There is plenty of parking nearby if Downie Street full.

The Space'So Close' is a comfortable, low maintenance unit just a stone's throw from central Hobart, which sleeps two. The bed is built in and is queen size. There is a sofa bed for an extra in the lounge. The unit is under the living area of the main house, has recently been refurbished. It has a small kitchenette with fridge, kettle, coffee plunger and toaster. The microwave handles most cooking with a special utensil for cooking eggs and bacon. There is no stove / oven however there are any number of cafes within 5 minutes walking distance. Bathroom is large with shower over bath and new vinyl. Within 5 minutes walking distance there is a laundromat at the Marquis Of Hastings Hotel This space is most suitable for those who are out and about, as I sometimes have family and friends visit upstairs. On Street parking, and if no other convenient space can be found, guests are welcome to park over the driveway. Guest AccessGuests will be fully self-contained in the unit, which is accessed down a path to the left hand side of the house. There is a facility for luggage lock up under cover if guests arrive early or leave late. There is a key store if no one home on arrival, the code will be sent to you when booking is accepted. Interaction with GuestsI live in the house upstairs so may be at home when you're staying. However the unit has its own entrance so we don't need to cross paths if you don't wish. I am often travelling however there will always be a phone number to call for any concerns. The Neighborhood'So close' is just that - so close to everything that Hobart has to offer. The street is quiet but just 5 minutes walk from post office, shop, hotel with bottleshop & meals, laundrette and great local cafes. Slighly further - perhaps 10 minutes - are a gourmet grocer (Hill St) butcher and pharmacy. A 20 minute walk down the hill is Hobart CBD with access to Salamanca, Hunter St, waterfront and Mona ferry, restaurants, cafes, bars, night clubs and much more. Also 20 mins walk away in the other direction is North Hobart with its popular street (ELIZABETH ST) for bars, restaurants, cafes, bakery's etc. Getting AroundSO CLOSE is just up the hill from the city centre. There are buses (Metro), that take you in and out of the city, or you can walk in, although the walk back can be steep at times. The shuttle bus from the airport stops at Best Western Hobart Hotel, and then a 10 min walk uphill to So Close. Hobart also now has UBER, or you could choose a taxi, which would cost less than $10 into city. Other Things to NoteThere is NO extra charge for cleaning or laundry of bed-linen after your stay. There is often a friendly Golden Retriever roaming around, please let me know if this is a problem and please keep the front gate shut :-) There is a small double sofa bed that would suit an extra guest, please note an extra $20 per person is required.

It is open and spacious, close to bushland and the Mount Wellington Conservation Area. You can meet wallabies and possums literally at the front door. It has a northern aspect so the light floods in and the southerly winds are kept out. Getting AroundPublic bus service runs past the door as well as in the valley below. With 2 large living areas (one with open plan kitchen/dining) and one available bedroom, it is surrounded by decks with great bush and mountain views. A contemporary newly renovated bathroom adds to the appeal. Sleep soundly in the comfortable queen bed and let me know if you require a single bed to be placed in the second living area for a child. This Airbnb will give you a true slice of Tassie charm. Guest AccessYou will have access to the whole home (apart from a locked small office and the second bedroom) and including WiFi, kitchen and laundry facilities, a selection of tea's, hair dryer, iron, books, some pantry items and a fun filled yard with large deck to relax upon. The SpaceA unique timber crafted home awaits with hand-sawn salvaged square timber logs creating a cozy cabin style feel throughout the open plan living areas. There is a beautiful salvaged timber kitchen with gas cooktop, electric oven and is fully equipped with toaster, kettle, plates, cups, pots, pans, rice cooker and utensils, so you can create your own meals. The kitchen also has views of large native trees and the iconic Mount Wellington through a large window and sliding door to the front of the home. *The kitchen is not equipped with a microwave. Off the open plan dining and lounge there is a very large timber deck to admire the view and enjoy a meal or two. There is a table on the deck. Feel free to take the red chairs outside but please bring them back inside when you are finished. There is also a hammock chair under the stair case and a place to hang it just outside the sliding door on the deck. Also on this level is the main bathroom and laundry with polished concrete floors, a refurbished iron claw foot bath, matching sink, toilet and glassed separate shower. The bathroom has a wall heater. There is a washing machine available to use in the laundry. Towels and linen are provided. *You will need to bring your own toiletries, including soap and shampoo. The home features salvaged and restored timber doors and unique Tasmanian wilderness inspired stained glass panels made by the owner. Upstairs, accessed via a timber staircase, there are three good sized bedrooms with gorgeous tree-top views, views of the mountain and timber floors throughout. The main bedroom offers an ensuite - shower, sink and toilet. The bedrooms contain two double sized and two single beds. *Please note that the house has two flights of stairs. The home offers a heat pump as well as double glazing to all windows, which makes the house very easy to heat. Guest Access*Look for bus stop number 20 on Huon Road and turn left up the driveway to number 480. If you miss the turn off, please continue up Huon Road and you will soon find a safe place to turn around. DO NOT stop on Huon Road and reverse to the driveway! That would be exceptionally dangerous. *Please take care when entering and exiting the driveway to the house! It is not difficult but I would strongly advise that someone stand in the drive and guide the driver in so as not to scrape your car on the small brick wall at the entrance to the driveway. Guests have full use of the driveway and there is room for two cars. *The driveway is not suitable for large vehicles such as 12 seater vans. *Currently the car port is not available to guests due to it being temporarily used as storage for a demountable cabin which is soon to be erected in the back yard. There is still plenty of room in the driveway for two cars though. Interaction with GuestsWe are more than happy to chat about places to visit and things to do and see in Tasmania. We occasionally pop up to do work around the garden or in the workshop below but we promise not to disturb you during your stay. The NeighborhoodSouth Hobart is just five minutes drive from the city centre, yet is located in a picturesque, arty and wilderness loving part of town, with the iconic Mount Wellington right on your doorstep and plenty of good quality cafes and places to buy organic and local produce. If you are looking for local cafes and shops, go down Huon Road to the first roundabout at the top of Darcy St and turn left. Park at the bottom of Darcy St and just around the corner on the right (on Macquarie St) you will find Ginger Brown café and a small supermarket. Just to the right you will find a restaurant called 'Miss Jane'. A 10 minute walk further down Macquarie St will bring you to more food shops, bakery, post office, organic wholefoods store, newsagents and more. From the house you will be able see the Cascade Brewery. It's the oldest brewery in Australia and they offer tours. Further down the road from the brewery you will find the Female Factory where the female convicts were housed. From here you can follow the Rivulet Track into town. It's a lovely walk from the house and will take approximately 50 mins to town (longer on the way home as it's uphill!). There are loads of restaurants in North Hobart on Elizabeth Street and also plenty in Battery Point. Getting AroundPublic transport is available right outside your door. If you prefer to walk, a short 35 minute stroll or a 5 minute car or bike ride will get you into town. Other Things to NoteTea, coffee and sugar will be available for your use. Check in time is 1pm and check out time is 10am. The house has been in the making for the past 3 years and is finally finished! Although the actual house is complete, there are still small amounts of landscaping to finish. This does not impact at all on the guests.

For walkers, the house is close to trails in the beautiful Knocklofty Reserve and the Hobart Rivulet Linear Reserve. Getting AroundThere is a bus right around the corner that will take you into town. We have off street parking for one car and there is unrestricted on street parking directly outside the house. We are a 15 minute walk into the centre of town and 25 minute walk to Salamanca Place. West Hobart is quite hilly, so walking back to the house from in town might be challenging for those who aren't used to it. Taxis and Uber are readily available. Other Things to NoteIMPORTANT PRICING INFORMATION. If you would like an additional room for non-couples (for example, 4 people requiring 3 rooms), there is a surcharge of $40 per night for each additional room. We have found that this is the fairest way for us to cover the real additional costs of extra rooms while fitting in with AirBnB's restricted booking method. When requesting a booking, simply let us know if you require additional rooms, and how many, and we will add the surcharge in the pre-approval. For instant bookers, just make the booking for the number of people that you require, but be prepared for a price alteration if you request the additional rooms.

The SpaceThis light and cosy apartment features comfortable beds, good quality linens and groovy decor. With plenty of privacy and quiet, you'll be surprised by the closeness to the CBD, Salamanca Market, MONA Ferry Terminal and Taste of Tasmania sites. All are within an easy 30 minute downhill walk or 5 minute taxi or bus ride. Leafy Town is all about relaxation, and you'll have access to a collection of books and magazines, convenient kitchenette, high speed wireless internet and breakfast is included. It's nice and private and totally separate. You are unlikely to see anyone else except the odd little wallaby hopping in the garden, unless we cross paths in the driveway. I don't have any pets at all in the apartment. I do sometimes have my dogs Stella and Chip on the property, who are friendly and fun. They love having the ball thrown by guests, and if you're a dog lover, you're welcome to take one of my friends out for a walk along one of the many trails here. The inside of the flat has been described by different friends as relaxed, quirky, stylish, cosy and cool. I just think it's really comfortable and simple to hang out here amidst the collection of house plants to unwind and entertain. I hope that guests will collect delicious Tasmanian cheeses and other treats in their travels and come home to enjoy them - with a glass of something Tassie in hand! The flat is recently renovated and it could still use an update to the bathroom, but if you're up for a very clean, stylish, low-key, affordable and casual place to stay, I think you'll be happy. This place has a queen bed in the bedroom and a high quality double sofa bed in the lounge area. Please note: If you book for three, I will make up the sofa bed for you, otherwise the listing is just for the double bed. It would be a comfortable stay for up to three people. It has one bathroom / toilet. I have just purchased the property, so I hope you'll understand as I wrestle the garden into shape! A block away from my place you'll find a good simple family-run general store, a pub and bottle shop and Ginger Brown cafe, who make an excellent coffee. A lovely walk up the Rivulet Track is Cascades Brewery, the Female Factory World Heritage Site and Mt Knocklofty reserve. If you're really keen, you can keep walking to the top of Mt Wellington! Guest AccessYou will have access to the whole apartment, including good free WiFi, kitchenette facilities (kettle, toaster, bread maker and microwave), freshly roasted coffee, port-a-cot, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, books, pantry items, the herb garden and yard. It has a private little courtyard nook with herbs and flowers, perfect in the morning sun. There is also a sheltered spot for bikes in the main backyard with fruit trees. There's quiet parking on the street. If you have any other special requirements, please contact me and I'll try to help. Interaction with GuestsI like to welcome guests and help them get oriented, then keep a low profile, unless you need me. I live in the apartment below and can usually be reached easily by text message if you'd like a hand with anything. The NeighborhoodI love South Hobart's historic village feel and proximity to the city. It's a pretty place, but not over-the-top - very Hobart indeed! There is an abundance of trees and Mt Wellington views, tracks leading everywhere and a cool alternative community. It's a great place for kids. We have parks with good play equipment and barbecues and easy bike tracks, a really really good cafe in South Hobart, yoga centres, farmers markets and op shops all easy walking distance. Getting AroundThis place is a super easy place to get around from. If you have a car, there is quiet street parking out the front. It takes about 6 minutes to get home from the city centre by car, which I find to be a $10 cab ride ($13 in traffic during peak hour). I generally walk or ride my bike into town to avoid parking hassles. Walking to Salamanca and the Waterfront area takes about 15-20 minutes and riding along the bike track into central Hobart takes under 10 minutes (a bit longer on the way home as it's a gentle slope down into town). There are buses going into town and the bus exchange from around the corner (1 minute). They are relatively frequent during the weekend and Saturdays, with few buses on Sundays. Other Things to NoteThis place is not intended to be a hotel, rather a clean, comfortable and casual place to stay. I hope you will enjoy the comfortable fresh bed linen, plants and freshly upgraded interior paintwork and decor and not worry too much about the vintage of the bath (the water pressure and internet speed is great though!). The place is completely separate, so unless you get really loud, we can't hear you!

The log cabin is across the Green, nestled amongst giant tree ferns. Guests walk into a spacious lounge with a sofa bed, wood stove and dining area. The kitchen has a wall oven, grill, microwave, hotplates and an espresso coffee maker. There is a small dishwasher. Basic items for meal preparation are kept in the pantry. A BBQ is also available on the verandah outside the kitchen. Please note that we have a waterless toilet which may be intimidating for young children. We do not have TV or fixed Internet but we do have good mobile reception.
