The SpaceOur house is nestled into the tea trees on a quiet road away from the hustle and bustle that can be Barwon Heads over summer and on weekends. It's a pleasant 2km walk into the shops and river. Guest AccessGuests are most welcome to enjoy the garden for games and relaxing. The ocean beach and surf life saving club can be accessed by walking along the tracks and sand dunes at the front of the house. It's a 5 to 10 minute walk to nearest beach access. Interaction with GuestsOur house is divided in two; upstairs and downstairs are completely separate living areas and have their own accesses. Because we live upstairs you will sometimes hear us moving about the house and you will see us out in the garden from time to time. The NeighborhoodBarwon Heads is the quintessential sea-side village. Unlike other larger towns on the coast, Barwon Heads remains small and retains its original character. There are heaps of great walks and bike rides: along the cliff tops, beach, river, or tracks over to Ocean Grove. There are lots of great cafes and shops. The SpaceThe house is self-contained, newly furnished and with its 2 large bedrooms, caters well for couples, singles or families. The master bedroom contains a queen size bed and a single, the other, a double and a single. All amenities are provided including gas BBQ, large flat screen TV, DVD and video, reverse cycle air-conditioning, washing machine, clothes dryer, full electric kitchen with fan forced oven, microwave, dishwasher and a complete range of appliances. Quality linen is provided as well as doonas, blankets, pillows and bathroom essentials. Ideally located within a 3 minute walk of all that "the sea-change village" can offer, such as - restaurants, shops, Barwon River estuary, hotel and gaming venue, foreshore park and playground with BBQ facilities and just a short stroll across the bridge to popular surf beaches or to the Bluff with it's numerous rock pools and it's panoramic views from Port Phillip Heads to Torquay. Spend time fishing the river estuary, local surf beaches, rock pools or just relax on the jetties dangling a line. A short 5 minute buggy pull puts you on the prestigious Barwon Head's golf course with its rolling greens and water views. 5 minutes by car takes you to the new 13th Beach Golf Estate and its new million dollar course. The SpaceIts essentially a one bedroom "bungalow" in seaside town of Barwon Heads Victoria. Located in the centre of town 400m to river beach and 1km to the surf beach! Humble spare room with outside access to its own shower, toilet and bit of kitchenette shared with the office at times during the week. Its no Taj Mahal, but a really simple affordable space in a pricey but beautiful area. Having traveled a bit myself, and noticing the lack of hostels and affordable holiday accommodation in these areas, I thought it time to share the little - and VERY humble- escape space in the back yard. While living elsewhere, the house was rented, but I always had the benefit of using this when I needed a bed or respite surfing time . Now I live in the house, and its great to offer the type of accommodation I would have liked while traveling. Friends and friends of friends have also often enjoyed a little independence. The room is quite spacious, ideally suited for singles, or couples with or without a child. However, it also sleeps up to 4 at a squeeze. There is a separate - (you go outside and walk a couple of metres ) shower, toilet and laundry/ kitchenette, sometimes shared with my office space during the week. Looks out to the garden where you are welcome to join in reaping the small benefits of the veggie patch. There is access to wifi and off street parking in the driveway - though most of us park in the street, and it is all very relaxed. There are push bikes to borrow so you can nip along to shops or enjoy a ride along the beach. Bedlinen and spare towels provided, and basic condiments kitted out in the kitchenette. It would suit people who want a weekend escape or travellers on the way to the Great Ocean Road or surfing the coast. Barwon Heads is a small town (well a few thousand people now) 20 minutes from Geelong. Its greatest attraction is the surf beach, but many also enjoy access to Bellarine Penninsula wineries and wetlands, or just wandering the town, with cafes and restaurants, bakery and supermarket to meet all your eating and dining requirements. Pretty friendly place with a few 'characters' and good neighbours who will keep an eye out for you and help you enjoy the stay as much as they do for me! Let me know if there is anything else I can tell you! Guest AccessOwn bedroom and relax space separate from the house with external access to own bathroom and very basic kitchenette. The bathroom and kitchenette are shared with the architectural studio a few days of the week during the day. Interaction with GuestsSometimes I am here, sometimes a couple of staff members are here sharing the amenities during the day.... and sometimes I am away or in Melbourne and you are on your own! When here the interaction is as much and as little as you like - though I may water the garden or potter near the bungalow when required. The NeighborhoodMmmmm Barwon Heads is seaside, surfing, kids, adult dinners and cafes.... quirky characters, relaxed atmosphere. It is nicely located to explore the Bellarine or go further west to Surf Coast and onto the Great Ocean Road. Hopefully you leave feeling relaxed, fed and watered and happy! Getting AroundPublic transport limited but McHarry's run the services to get here. Bikes available to borrow! Other Things to NoteI reiterate the kitchenette is basic with plug in cook top, fridge, toaster oven, kettle. And yes it does need freshening up and shares the storage space with the office, but I need to finish the house renovation first. I survived it while renovating for a couple of years, and its no Taj Mahal, but a really simple affordable space in a pricey but beautiful area.

The SpaceFully renovated , enjoy the comfort of two new bathrooms, separate extra toilet and brand new gourmet kitchen, all in relaxing surroundings with original polished floorboards. Beautiful artwork on the wall and wooden furniture for the outdoor decks. Three double bedrooms, each with a QS bed, make a comfortable stay for 6 people as well as a single bed in one of the bedrooms. Enjoy reading the papers with a coffee on the eastern deck in the morning and following the sun round to the northern deck later in the day. A delightful native garden surrounds you. We leave a folder ideas of what to do and of course just ambling down to the river or across the bridge to the ocean beach is easy. We suggest best restaurants, coffee shops and bakery as well as nearby golf, wineries etc. We welcome you with an assortment of goodies. It is a beautiful home to enjoy all that Barwon Heads has to offer. Guest AccessAir conditioning and heating add to your comfort. There is plenty of entertainment provided too. The Neighborhood400m walk to the river and beach and even less to the cafes and boutique shops. We enjoy coffee at Annie's Provedore or The Shack, fresh bread from Starfish, dinner at Barwon Orange. Local wineries are a short drive away and our favourite is Oakdene for a special dinner, Mr Grub for casual eating or a cider at Flying Brick. We leave a Bellarine 'foodie trail' map to find all the wineries. Getting AroundThere is a train from Melbourne to Geelong then the 80 bus from the station to Barwon Heads stops 50 metres from our house. an easy drive of just over an hour from Melbourne. Avalon airport about 45 minutes away. Off street parking for 2 cars. Other Things to NoteIf you are a golfer the course is minutes walk away and there is another course at 13th beach a short drive out of Barwon Heads. Surfing on Ocean Grove beach and at 13th beach. Wineries nearby for tastings and meals such as Oakdene, Flying Brick and Jack Rabbit. Lotus Spa in BH. We leave a note of our favourite restaurants.

Keeping parents in mind there is a separate indoor play area for the kids and outdoors is big enough to keep the kids entertained whilst you relax reading the weekly papers. The main street of Barwon is boutique and feels like home... It's the epitome of style though in a relaxed and friendly way. It is well regarded as a place to be! Getting AroundFurneaux is approx. 10 minute walk to Barwon Heads River and 20 minutes walk to the main street where you can dine in the boutique eateries like 'Annies'. We are 10 minutes walk to the Skate and Scooter Park and to Jirralunga, a native Australian Zoo. Other Things to NoteWe do not offer internet connection as we truly believe a holiday should be a holiday. The property is finished, and furnished, to a high standard by the Interior Designer Kerry, and Grant, who loves to cook with everything you could ask for in a gourmet kitchen. The house has 3 bedrooms with highest quality beds, (and a selection of 4 types of pillows!) , main and 2nd bedroom with queen bed and 3rd bedroom with two sets of bunks, sleeping total of 8 persons in comfort and style. There are two bathrooms supporting the 3 bedrooms including 2 toilets, 2 showers and a luxurious deep bath. 100 Hitchcock also has ducted gas heating and air conditioning and a log fire, catering for all seasons. The luxury open kitchen/dining/living area includes a large TV, Blu-ray player, stereo with iPod dock, Foxtel, and free Wi-Fi. A separate, more cozy, fun filled living area has another TV, heaps of toys,games, books, drawing easel and a super comfy bean bag designed specifically for children and teenagers. Boogie boards too. The connecting bus service is adequate. Other Things to NoteThere is a very adequate kitchenette. No stove but outside bbq. The fridge is a large bar size with ice tray. Electric fry pan, microwave, kettle and toaster. There're is an extensive DVD library which we are very happy to loan out. During peek holiday periods 10 am check out and 2pm check in. All other times we make every effort to be flexible and encourage guests to make the most of their break away. Please always ask. It features a large open plan living kitchen area with high raked ceiling and large sliding glass doors which extend to north and east facing decks and lawn, perfect for family get togethers and entertaining. There is a second living area with tv/DVD as well as games and desk. There are 4 bedrooms, 3 bedrooms have queen-size beds, the forth has two single beds with a spare mattress underneath if needed. There is an ensuite off the master bedroom, as well as a walk in robe. The other 3 bedrooms have built in robes. The main bathroom has a separate shower, as well as spa-bath. There is a ceiling fan in the main living as well as both ducted central heating and evaporative cooling. The yard is secured with high fences both at the front and around the perimeter. The house is surrounded with lawn and garden. There is an outdoor heated shower along the north face of the house. Please bring your own towels or ask if you would like to borrow some. Barwon heads is a beautiful beach town, it is easy to walk, ride or run to the local sights, there is also a bus stop 50m up the road if coming by train it connects directly to Geelong train station. The SpaceOUR HOME 'Maxwelton' is one of the original homes in Barwon Heads and has a comfy 100 year old charm. Look elsewhere if you are seeking a modernist feel. This is an historic house with timber floorboards and large North facing windows shaded by deciduous trees in summer. Our home is furnished with vintage pieces and artworks collected on our overseas (URL HIDDEN) house features a classic Federation front veranda with seating to watch the world go by. There is a large outdoor garden area with a good space for children to play. An outdoor area with a BBQ and garden furniture setting is also available. ROOMS There are 3 separate bedrooms with a Queen sized bed and two double beds. We have a library/study room which features wall to wall bookshelves, comfortable reading chairs & an open fire. The dining area, with sliding doors that opens out onto the outside patio, has a table setting for 6 people, a CD player compatible with all electronic devices. There is a gas heater for this area. The artist tiled fully equipped kitchen has all the usual appliances such as a microwave, gas cooktop and electric oven. The lounge area features high ceilings, multiple seating areas, a piano, a LCD TV, separate DVD player, natural gas heating and a split system air conditioner. There is wireless internet throughout the house. There are 2 bathrooms with a full size bath and a shower and a laundry with a front loading washing machine and ironing facilities. We are a pet friendly home but tell us about your pet on booking. Contact the host for queries about additional people. The NeighborhoodBarwon Heads is a small friendly seaside town an hour and a half drive from Melbourne or 25 minutes from Geelong. Maxwelton is situated a very short walking distance to the local cafes, shopping facilities, restaurants, hotel and supermarket. Our home is very close to the lovely tidal Barwon River which is suitable for young children to swim in and there is a terrific playground on the river's foreshore. There are many accessible walks to the Barwon Bluff, fishing spots along the river, the surfing breaks along 13th Beach and across the iconic Barwon Heads bridge to Ocean Grove. There are easy day trips to Pt Lonsdale, Queenscliff, Torquay and Lorne on the Great Ocean Road. The Bellarine Peninsula also has very exciting wineries and many "foodie" options. Jirralinga- a wildlife refuge for Australian birds and animals is just up the road. Getting AroundThe only public transport is by bus and the stop is two streets from our house. Buses to Geelong and the local Marshall train station run hourly. Car parking is on the street next to our house . Getting AroundPublic transport limited but McHarry's run the services to get here. And there is a free shuttle bus from Ocean Grove to Barwon Heads in the summer holidays. Bikes available to borrow! Other Things to NoteIt is humble but is all about old summer holidays, with coits. totem tennis, twister and backgammon. If you are looking for a lush oversized house, you might be disappointed.

            The SpaceAlumuna is a beautifully designed apartment featuring raked ceilings that allow the winter sun to filter through the highlight windows. The comfortable living/dining space incorporates a stainless steel kitchenette. The bedroom has a queen size bed with a wardrobe/dressing room leading through to the bathroom which features a bespoke timber bench with stone basin and marble tiles. Interaction with GuestsI love to share my knowledge of the local area and beyond; what to see, where to go and eat, however then I will respect your privacy at all times, but just call me if you need anything. The NeighborhoodBarwon Heads is a small and unique village and Alumuna is situated between the beautiful Barwon River great for walks, fishing and SUP (stand up paddle boarding), and also 13th Beach for walking and surfing. It is approximately 30 minutes walk from one end to the other via Sheepwash and Golf Links Road. If you will enjoy a 10-15 minute walk or 2 minute drive to the main street, river and beach, then this is the location for you. A village park with a Moonah reserve and great walking tracks is across the road. The main street has great shops, restaurants and cafes. Cross the spit to Ocean Grove which offers further services and then further onto the beautiful Bellarine Penninsula, which is a foodie and wine lovers paradise. Getting AroundParking is off street in front of the apartment. There is a bus stop at the end of the street that connects with trains. Avalon airport is a 40 min drive, Melbourne airport is 1.5 hours away and there are bus connections and car hire at both airports. The closest train station is Marshall, 15 mins away and pick ups can be arranged to and from there. In addition, there are 2 bicycles available for use to get around town. In summer a free shuttle operates between Barwon Heads, at the end of the street and Ocean Grove.
