The SpaceWhy pay Melbourne prices for an overnight stay in a city apartment when you can enjoy all that Geelong has to offer? Why pay for a couple when you're travelling alone? Whether you're a tourist, someone with work commitments in the area or you need a place to stay while you attend an event, seminar or conference, you can enjoy the comforts of my home in Rippleside. This home has two spacious, separate, completely self contained living levels - only the ground floor will be available to guests. Listed price is for one adult only. I charge a 'per person' rate so as not to disadvantage single travellers so please enter the number of guests when making an enquiry. The ground floor open plan living/dining/kitchen and main bedroom area are north facing. The king bed can be configured as two single beds. If that is preferred, it must be requested when booking. There is an en-suite bathroom to the king bedroom. I also have a queen bedroom downstairs which is listed separately (Privacy in lovely Rippleside) but, if it is available, can be included in booking which could then accommodate two singles in separate rooms, or up to four guests in total. The queen bedroom has its own shower room, separate toilet and separate powder room. Home is fully furnished - linen, tea, coffee and breakfast will be provided. This quiet home, with its north orientation, has a passive solar design to reduce energy consumption. All windows are double glazed and toilets are plumbed to water tanks. My home is just off Melbourne Road about 3 minutes north of the large regional city of Geelong. It is located in Rippleside opposite acres of public parkland and sports ovals and the historic bluestone Customs House. It is 300 m from the St Helens boat ramp, marina and beach. It is an 8 minute walk to Rippleside Park, 5 minutes to the North Geelong Station (Southern Cross Station in less than an hour) and a stunning 30 minute walk along the esplanade to Geelong's pier, cafes, and Eastern Beach and its park. It is a 5 minute drive to the Pakington Street eateries, 10 minutes to the Queen's Park Golf Course and 5 minutes to North Geelong Golf Course, about 20 minutes from Torquay and less than an hour from the famous Brae Restaurant in Birregurra. This little known residential pocket is an hour from Melbourne, 20 minutes to the Great Ocean Road, 15 minutes to the beautiful Bellarine Peninsula wine region, eateries and beaches, 35 minutes to the Queenscliff/Sorrento ferry, the Blues Train, an adventure park and 3 minutes from the freeway network which leads to anywhere you would like to go in Australia. Check the second listing, Privacy in lovely Rippleside, for singles($80/night) if you are travelling alone and Rippleside beach townhouse Geelong listing is not available. Guest AccessYou will have access to your own space downstairs with an open plan living/dining/kitchen area. There are two bedrooms. You will have access to the paved courtyard which is accessed via French doors from the living room. Parking is free, on street, in front of the house. Interaction with GuestsMinimum interaction with guests, however, I'm happy to chat if guests wish to find out about this great part of Australia. The NeighborhoodRippleside is a little known pocket on the Melbourne side of Geelong. My home is a short walk to a marina, parks and the coastal walk in to Geelong and the Eastern Beach aquatic recreational precinct. It is minutes from eateries, cinema, theatre, retail outlets and the village atmosphere of Pakington Street. It is at the gateway to the Bellarine Peninsula wineries, olive groves, beaches and ferry across the bay. You can be on the road to the Great Ocean Road in a few minutes in the car or bus - or to the freeway network which can get you to anywhere in Australia. The Pickers Union Cafe, 3 Mackey Street, is a great place for coffee, breakfast or lunch. It's only 5 minutes walk from my place - next street parallel to Swinburne when travelling north to Melbourne. Getting AroundHome is a 5 minutes walk from North Geelong Station. Other Things to NoteYou can expect to be left alone while you are here so, if you are staying for more than one night, I will not enter the bedrooms or living area downstairs. I will endeavour to leave enough breakfast provisions for your stay. I do not charge a cleaning fee. You are welcome to use the kitchen to prepare meals but I expect it to be left EXACTLY as it was found with kitchenware items returned to cupboards/drawers. Please place recyclables in the yellow-lidded recycle bin which is located outside at the rear of the house. I live upstairs so my listing is not suitable for groups of adults who are seeking a 'getaway' experience to enjoy the fellowship of friends for a night or two.

The SpaceThe original stables were converted to a home in the 1950's we have been renovating bit by bit. The bedroom and lounge room have been redone with new walls, ceiling & electrical. The main bedroom has built in robes and contains a double bed. The second bedroom is upstairs via a stair ladder and may not be suitable for the very young, very old, very drunk or unco-ordinated, but is otherwise very safe . It has two single beds. The kitchenette has been repainted and tiled with a new sink and cupboards. The shower and outside toilet are still in original condition (but very clean and functional). The outside toilet is via the verandah just next door. LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION We are situated a 3 minute walk from the waterfront and 7 minutes from the yacht club, 10 mins to Westfield and 15 to Cunningham Pier. Across the road is a park with playground. OTHER THINGS TO NOTE: The Stables are separately fenced but are situated within our large backyard. We have 3 young kids who play outside a lot over the warmer months, they are not overly noisy but they are kids. Our car is also parked beside the Stables. We have two lazy dogs (fenced separately) a cat and two guinea pigs. Guest AccessYour own self contained home. There is also a communal laundry. Interaction with GuestsAs much or as little as you like. We live on site and can help with anything you need. The NeighborhoodWe are located in a great spot, walking distance to everywhere! 3 minutes to the water front, 10 mins to Westfield, 15 mins to Cunningham Pier. Other Things to NoteWe have three friendly dogs, they are fenced in their own yard separate from access to the Stables, but they might bark, please don't get a fright.

The SpaceThe apartment is typical 1970 s Australia, what we used to call a "Flat" now know as an "apartment" seemingly more la de da. Two bedrooms, the main with a queensize bed. The second has 2 single beds. So I think ideally 3 adults or 2 adults and two kids. (perfect for 1 long stay) The lounge is lovely with couch and lounge chair, dining table an attached balcony for sun and air. The kitchen is old fashion but complete. It is designed to live in after all. The bathroom is a shower over the bath and toilet and all facilities. Better than anything is the location in prime real estate high on the escarpment above Eastern Beach. About 6 minute walk to shops, 5 minutes to the gardens and 10'minutes walk to University Hospital Geelong. Guest AccessGuest have the entire property, I live 1 kilometre away with my kids, partner and Border Collie and White Cockatoo called "Alby Flama le Blanc" Interaction with GuestsI am renown for local knowledge!! Ha - no really if you want info - of course otherwise I will leave you to yourselves. The NeighborhoodThis part of Geelong has been settled for 150 years and has a wonderful streetscape, elegant homes and pretty flats. The street runs south to north and the north end joins Eastern Beach Road - itself overlooking the wonderful eastern beach with it's children's pool and sea baths. Just around the corner there are beautiful homes to look at when walking to East Geelong Shops. Getting AroundBuses run along Moorabool street - say 10 minutes walk. The main rail to Melbourne is a fair 20 minute walk or 3 minute Cab ride. Walking to shops, cinemas and cafes is easy. Deakin Uni is 600 metres down the hill. St John about 1 km and Geelong Hospital about 700 metres Other Things to NoteThere is a carport, - a shelter for your car. However I point out that it is small and not suitable for large 4 wheel drive or vans. As up side the street is quiet and in a truly beautiful part of Geelong. Remarkable historic buildings are nearby and the Botanical Gardens in sight about 500 metres. This property is strictly NO Smoking and pets are not allowed.

The SpaceThere is always a warm and cheery welcome at my home. I can offer you a private bedroom with a clean comfortable double bed, linen and towels supplied, TV in the room, also a ceiling fan and wardrobe space. Guest AccessGuest will have shared access to a clean bathroom with shower and bath facilities, a fully equipped kitchen, lounge and dining area, and an outdoor undercover patio. There is free parking on the property which is in a quiet court location. Interaction with GuestsI have always lived in the Geelong and district area and am happy to share local knowledge with guests over a cup of tea and some homemade biscuits or a glass of local wine if preferred. The NeighborhoodQuiet street in the outer suburbs with close proximity to some of the best wineries in the region (20 to 30 minutes drive away) Great walking tracks in the Brisbane Ranges National Park and Stieglitz Historic Park which is an easy 30 minutes drive away. Geelong Waterfront is about 15 minutes away with many attractions, including easy waterfront walks, shopping, cafes and restaurants, National Wool Museum, and Botanic Gardens to name a few. Specialty markets at different times of the year. Getting AroundThere is limited public transport in the area where I live. There is a bus stop nearby and a train station 10 minutes away. However I am very close to the access point of the main highway travelling to and from Melbourne and to and from the Great Ocean Road which is very convenient if you have your own transport.

The SpaceSmall room in small house. Comfortable and cosy. 5 minutes walk to train station, and bus stop. Relaxed atmosphere. Guest AccessOne small bedroom with double futon. Access to all of house and free to come and go as you please. Interaction with GuestsEnjoy meeting people. As much or as little as you like. The NeighborhoodMy neighbourhood is easy to get around. There is a little beach nearby which is good in summer. Getting AroundNorth Shore train station 5 minutes walk. 3 minute walk to bus. 10 minute train or bus ride into centre of Geelong city. 1 hour train ride from Melbourne. Other Things to NoteMy house is a bit of a way out of the centre of town and probably best as a base as close to transport. I would also like to mention that I'm not a neat freak by any stretch, but everything is always generally clean. In one review a guy describes my kitchen as "grubby" which made me furious as when he booked I wasn't home and I told him the place was a bomb site and I'd have to rush home and clean, which I had little time to do. Anyway moral of the story is I've listed my place for people travelling on the cheap who would prefer a home to hostel, it's fairly basic and it's not a hotel where I live to serve. The only few bad experiences I've had with guests is when they seemed to expect this. If you're anally retentive and are going to nit-pic then go elsewhere. (sorry but needed a disclaimer)
