The SpaceFor your private use in our large home you have two bedrooms; one with a comfortable queen size bed, another with a comfortable double bed. There is also a large living area with lounge, TV, tea and coffee making facilities, table and comfortable seating for four people and reverse-cycle heating and cooling. The separately keyed private entrance leads directly to the living room.
All towels and linen are provided.
Our house is in two sections and you have your own bathroom with shower and toilet, as well as the rooms above.
You are welcome to share our washing machine and large kitchen, but we appreciate prior notice. Weather is warm here, and clothes dry quickly on the clothes line. Guest AccessOur home is set in the forest a short distance off the Lilydale-Monbulk road, behind Mount Dandenong.
We are in easy reach of Silvan with the wonderful Tulip Festival in September, Wandin and Fresh Cherries in November and December, Belgrave and Puffing Billy (all year round), scenic Mount Dandenong with the famous William Ricketts Sanctuary, and all its tourist towns, Healesville, with its famous wildlife Sanctuary (where you can see Platypuses, Birds of Prey, Koalas and many, many other animals) and the fabulous Yarra Valley wine district.
If you enjoy bush walking just walk out our door and you can hike to your hearts content along our disused aqueduct to Silvan dam and continue on up to the Rhododendron gardens at Olinda.
For bike riders the 50km Warburton Rail Trail is a short distance from our house. We have two new bikes for our guests use.
We are a ten minute drive to the nearest railway station (Lilydale) and five minutes to the supermarket, restaurants (Pizza and Thai, Malay and Chinese) and cafés at Mt Evelyn. (The rail trail starts at Lilydale, and passes through Mt Evelyn).
There are also numerous golf courses within 20-45 minutes of our house.
We are well situated at the gateway to the fantastic Yarra Valley wine region, with Hot Air Balloon rides, concerts and wonderful restaurants at the dozens of high quality wineries that have made this district so famous. Interaction with GuestsAs little or as often as they are comfortable with.
We can provide breakfast cereal and toast at no extra cost, and cater for Gluten-free requirements. The gas range is available for you to cook your own breakfast, also. Just ask first.
A three-course evening meal is available upon request and gluten-free cooking is a speciality. This would be at an additional coat of $30 per head ( for two courses and a glass of wine each).
As the apartment is part of a family home we discourage our guests from inviting others to visit, and require a quiet environment after 10pm. The NeighborhoodOur neighbourhood is quiet and very safe. We are close to the famous Warburton Rail Trail for hiking and biking. We have two new bikes for our guests to use on the many easy to ride bike trails in the area.
You will see lots of native birds; there's plenty of fresh air and green gum trees. We are close to all the popular tourist attractions in the Dandenongs: William Ricketts Aboriginal sculptures, the lovely tourist towns of Sassafras and Olinda, the Rhododendron gardens and the famous Tulip Festival in Silvan in Sept/Oct, plus the ever popular Puffing Billy steam train in Belgrave.
Just walk out our back door and you can walk to Silvan Dam along the aqueduct trail. Getting AroundLilydale station is ten minutes away, but the large IGA supermarket and several lovely cafés can be found at Mt Evelyn, just 5 minutes away. Almost everything is accessible within 20-30 minutes of our door.
Should you require more up-market town features, Belgrave, Croydon, Chirnside Park and Ringwood provide them, including movie theatres in each town.
We can offer discounted tickets on the Puffing Billy Railway, also - just ask. Other Things to NoteWe have tricky access... Without a front drive, access is from a rear lane, which is THREE entrances PAST our letterbox, on the left. The lane crosses the backs of our house and 3 of our neighbours, but we are the only ones for which this is the ONLY entrance. We are the first driveway at the top of the lane, and the fence clearly indicates No 7! A useful sign at the bottom of the lane will point the way.
