It is a comfortable two hour drive from Melbourne CBD or serviced by regular VLine coaches from Southern Cross Station. We are a flat five minute walk from the bus station or are happy to collect you if need be. Getting AroundTo enjoy the most of what South Gippsland has to offer your own transport is recommended. Other Things to NoteThe region has much to offer—beautiful beaches, tranquil forests and National Parks, historic villages, wineries, restaurants and an abundance of outdoor pursuits. For those who love the outdoors, Wilson's Promontory (commonly known as 'the Prom') has amazing beaches and hiking options; Phillip Island is well known world-wide for its penguin parade and other native wildlife sanctuaries that are home to koalas, kangaroos, seals and much more. Phillip Island is also the home of the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix. For those interested in walking/hiking through picturesque scenery, visits to Tarra Bulga and Mt Worth National Parks are recommended. For the more adventurous, take the George Bass walk from 'the Punchbowl' near San Remo to Kilcunda, with its famous surf beach and historic rail bridge. Inverloch, 20 minutes drive away, offers stunning beaches and various fishing options, both inlet and surf, including boat hire. For some family fun, adults and children alike may enjoy go-carting at Stony Creek or cycling the rail trail from Koonwarra to Toora, a distance of about 60 km. The charming shops and cafes in Koonwarra are worth a look and the village is famous for its monthly farmers' market. Interested in history? Visit Coal Creek historic village in Korumburra and learn about the region's coal-mining history. For the region's maritime history, a visit to Port Albert is a must. This is one of the first ports in Victoria and was vital for access to the inland goldfields. Art and craft enthusiasts are spoilt for choice. Leongatha Gallery and Meeniyan Gallery have a variety of art, craft and jewellery for sale as well as ever-changing art and sculpture exhibitions by local artists. A visit to Fish Creek to see the amazing artwork at the Celia Rosser Gallery is not to be missed. Besides paintings there are also excellent metal, wood and ceramic sculptures. Exploring all these places of interest is hungry and thirsty work. Grand Ridge Brewery, in the quiet village of Mirboo North (only a 15 minute drive) offers an assortment of locally brewed, award-winning, beers. While in Mirboo North, a visit to motorbike-themed cafe Inline 4 offers a tasty Swiss/German-inspired menu. Alternatively, Trulli Pizzeria offers authentic wood-fired Italian pizzas, or Moos with an interesting a la carte menu, are at Meeniyan, also a 15 minute drive from Leongatha. If Indian cuisine is more to your liking, try the amazing Divas Restaurant at Korumburra, 15 minutes away or enjoy a meal at the 'Fishy Pub' in the stylishly restored art deco Fish Creek Hotel, just half an hour from Leongatha. Leongatha has the choice of two pubs, Serafino Pizza, Thai, etc. Ask us for directions. But if you don't mind a short drive our recommendations are Trulli Pizzaria at Meeniyan or Divas Tandoori Indian at Korumburra, both 15 minutes drive.

The SpaceOur two-bedroom guest wing is ideal for friends or family travelling together, but when only one room is needed, the guest wing is yours exclusively - we don't let the two bedrooms to unrelated parties, so your privacy is assured. Like every other room in the house, the Corner Inlet Twin Room has a brilliant view of the Prom and sliding doors to the deck, where you can kick back and relax. Guest AccessGuests can access their bedroom directly from the deck or through the kitchenette from their own private deck. Tea and coffee making facilities, a fridge, bbq and microwave are provided. We offer a top notch complimentary Continental breakfast, which you can enjoy (weather permitting) on one of the decks or in our dining room - the choice is yours. It would be good if you could let us know when booking if you have any special dietary requirements, and we will make every effort to meet your needs. In addition to inviting guests to dine on and otherwise use the deck, we also welcome guests into our home to make use of the full kitchen, enjoy the dining room and open fire. Interaction with GuestsWe respect the privacy of guests but are happy to welcome visitors into our our home to experience country life at its best. The NeighborhoodAstonishing views, magnificent beaches, fabulous walks and abundant wildlife are what drew us here. But what's kept us here is the warmth and diversity of the people who live here. We have such a rich visual and performing arts community that we are more active here than we were when we lived in the city. Getting AroundWe are serviced by several VLine buses each day to and from Melbourne, but sadly there is no local transport from Foster to local attractions. Other Things to NoteThis part of Victoria represents a path less travelled. While only two hours from Melbourne, we are right on the Sydney-Melbourne coastal route, and just a 2-hour drive from the Penguins at Phillip Island. The unspoilt beauty of the district is full of natural wonder, with wildlife, empty windswept beaches, rainforests and waterfalls. For visitors looking for action, there’s surfing, windsurfing, kayaking, snorkelling, diving, swimming, fishing, golfing and more. Foster itself is a bustling country town which is a service centre for outlying communities. We have two supermarkets, two bakeries, several cafe's, clothing shops, beauty salons, book shop, library, gallery, hardware store and pub. We also have a fantastic children's playground, swimming pool, medical centre and hospital.

Only an hour and forty five minutes from Melbourne's CBD, why not escape the hustle and bustle and experience what farm life looks like, and sounds like. Watch the cows go by twice a day while relaxing and enjoying the warm hospitality offered by these experienced dairy farmers in the heart of South Gippsland. Only one hour from Wilsons Promontory NP and thirty minutes to the glorious Inverloch beaches, Strzless is centrally located to allow you to explore the Prom Country Region at your doorstep. We are surrounded by dairy farming, so we have lots of hills, green pastures, and cows at our doorstep, literally. But in saying that, we are also close to many towns. We are central to the coast and to the Latrobe Valley. We aim to spoil in everything we provide. You won't be disappointed.

The SpaceThe Panorama Suite is furnished with a super comfortable bed, down pillows, top quality natural fibre linens and towels, washed in locally made pure soap and dried in the South Gippsland sun. It has sliding doors to the main deck, where you can kick back, relax and enjoy the passing parade of parrots of all colours. Bring your bathers and luxuriate in the spa, or stay warm in front of the gorgeous cast iron chiminea. But if the wind is blowing on one side of the house, you're bound to find a protected haven on the other. The en-suite bathroom provides underfloor heating and heat lamps for those chilly mornings, and quality soaps, lotions and potions for every need. Guest AccessGuests can come and go freely via their own private access from the main deck to their bedroom. Tea and coffee making facilities, a fridge and microwave are provided, as well as a bbq outside. We welcome guests to share the main part of the house with us. Here they can make use of the kitchen, enjoy our signature Continental breakfast (included in the price) in the dining room, relax in front of the big open fireplace or kick back on one of several decks. Outside, guests are welcome to roam our undulating land, enjoy the produce of our fruit and veggie garden and become acquainted with our four very friendly sheep. And then there is our gorgeous, remnant cool temperate rainforest gully. Our part of it is not huge, but a circular walk in the gully gives a totally different perspective of the land we are living on and the nature that surrounds us. Interaction with GuestsWe respect the privacy of guests but are never happier than when guests choose to spill into our shared space to experience country life at its best. The NeighborhoodAstonishing views, magnificent beaches, fabulous walks and abundant wildlife are what drew us here. But what's kept us here is the warmth and diversity of the people who live here. We have such a rich visual and performing arts community that we are more active here than we were when we lived in the city. Getting AroundFoster is serviced by several VLine buses each day to and from Melbourne, but sadly there is no local transport from Foster to local attractions. Other Things to NoteThis part of Victoria represents a path less travelled. While only two hours from Melbourne, we are right on the Sydney-Melbourne coastal route, and just a 2-hour drive from the Penguins at Phillip Island.

There was so much we liked about it that I'm going to find it difficult to summarise, but I'll have a go. We loved... - The stunning view of our own personal lake from the living area, balcony and master bedroom. - The log fire, copious amounts of firewood under the house, and double-glazing throughout which meant that the house was toasty even on cold days. - The kids loved splashing around in the lake and wildlife spotting, e.g. the wallabies that came out in the evening. - The remote location which meant that it was peaceful and quiet. But we were still close enough to Wilsons Prom, Inverloch beaches and the local stores of Koonwarra. - The quality of the fixtures and fittings and the amenities, e.g. flatscreen TV, DVD player, a big collection of DVDs, iphone dock, toasted sandwich maker, washing machine, dryer etc etc. Everything was brand new. - Being dog friendly and surrounded by a fence so we didn't have to worry about losing him. Highly recommended!" Cheers Dave O'Reardon - - - 2011: G'day Steve, Thanks so much for the house. My partner and I loved it, and our son enjoyed having his meals on the deck in the sun. The weather was perfect, saw a cloud just once. The deck was a great place to kick back with a beer and read the papers or a book. Spotted a few wallabies, foxes, Roos and a wombat. Our dog was intrigued by all of them, and scared too. Thanks again, and our friends who popped in have mentioned we should look at booking for next Easter. We only had 1 problem, no microwave. Just took heating the baby's food a little longer. Have you any plans for stairs up to the deck. This way, our dog wouldn't have had to come inside at anytime. All in all, it was the most relaxing break I had, no phones, Internet and just sounds of birds and frogs. Shall let you know how we go with the Easter break. Regards, Grant B - - - 2010: Hi Steven - I sent you a quick text, but in case you did not get it, we had a great time. Took a while and then chance to work out how the windows opened. It was necessary as its been warm up there ... Swimming in the lake was fantastic for all, and we loved the Rail Trail. I suspect its on the agenda, but the only issue we would have had was lack of shade on the deck. Its a wonderful property and if you would like we can post such comments on the web. Regards Giselle - - - 2011: Hi Steve, We had a lovely time, the house is in a great situation with plenty of space - loved the lake, bird and animal life ... Thank- you and hopefully we will be back. Kind Regards, Karen & a happy, relaxed family. - - - - Note from guests - - - - 2010: Dear S&J, Thanks so much for allowing us to stay at this wonderful place. We loved every minute ... once again thanks and if you ever decide to sell let us know. I & J.
