The SpaceThis is a very special private Retreat, a place to relax, recharge and dream…
The cabin is beautifully rustic, very ecological and environmental sound, simple and a very tranquil space. Every detail has been lovingly created, some from re-used materials, admist a private, lush, natural setting of ferns, flowers and tall trees that stretch to the sky; a lovely little forest setting.
Soak un the beautiful double highbacked clawfoot bath on a deck overlooking ferns and trees. Gravity fed from tanks with fresh rainwater slightly tan-coloured from the Eucalyptus oil in the leaves in the tanks and heated by a wood stove, this is an amazingly relaxing experience.
Little birds will flit about, ferns and trees surround you and a Deluxe Bathe Experience is available. See below.
If you are doing the bath yourself, please note that you need to heat it up during the day unless it is a very hot evening (the surrounding temperature affects the ability to heat the water via wood and must be above 18dec C) and that it can take a few hours to fill and heat. It may be too cold to use during July - Sept and not avail on total fire bans. Otherwise it is an incredibly relaxing and awesome experience!
The beautiful Upper Yarra River is across the street from the property, as well as filtered views of the mountains. Access to the clean river is only metres away for a swim, paddle, fishing, thinking time or a picnic. Or to ponder and watch ducks and platypus.
Go to sleep as the sun sets golden over the mountains, look at the stars through the glass skylight window, read, write or reflect by the fire or candlelight, wake up to bird song and a new day…in so many (URL HIDDEN) do nothing or picnic or walk by the river or forests, climb a mountain, cycle the rail trail, browse the curio shops, relax in the cafes or dine in a variety of nearby places. Have a massage or bodywork treatment in the Sanctuary or take a tour with a local (see below for details).
A variety of healing and nourishing or pampering experiences can be provided in the Sanctuary for maximum convenience and recharge and rejuvenation. Please see extra details box below.
This is a small space - please be aware only a small amount of luggage can be fitted in. That the bathroom is a few metres away and outdoors. Its a beautiful hut amongst trees and ferns with wildlife and that is part of its uniqueness and charm.
You have a neutral-carbon holiday when you stay here as it is totally off-grid and on solar power for lights, tank water and pure drinking water. No chemicals are used in any cleaning or materials. Everything is pure and natural.
Please note there are no kitchen, pots/pans, food prep area or showers here and the toilet is a lovely long drop compost toilet amongst the ferns with a luscious view!
While there is no electricity (only solar lights - and bring a battery operated lantern if you want to read at night) in the cabin, don't worry as the excellent cafes on the main street let you plug in your phones and laptops...if you really want to keep plugged in :-) Otherwise it is an ideal place to unplug and let yourself dream or discover who you are...and your partner. The NeighborhoodWarburton is a quaint and lovely little village at the head of the Yarra Valley, only one hour from Melbourne's eastern suburbs.
Surrounded by forests and rivers, you feel an extraordinary sense of peace and wellbeing envelop you when you arrive.
At last, here is a place where time slows right down, where daydreaming is as important as focussing, where platypus, fish and ducks meet you in the water and lyrebirds and echidnas pass you on forest walks.
Its a place to do nothing at all...or many things including the Warburton ail Trail (stretching 30km from Melb), bush trails, river walks, picnics, swimming in Summer and snowplay up on Mt Donna Buang in Winter.
Nature lovers, bird watchers, painters, photographers and exercise movers will love the myrtle beech rainforests, the 300 year old Ada Tree, a tall mountain ash, one of the world's largest known flowering trees.
You can take a walk amongst the great canopies of giant eucalyptus trees on the skywalk at Mount Donna Buang Rainforest Gallery, or explore the old acqueduct or historic gold rush areas.
Plenty of excellent cafes, restaurants, take away and wineries dot the area (this is part of the Yarra Valley gourmet trail) and curio shops make for great browsing along Warburton's main street. Getting AroundDriving: take the Warburton Hwy off Maroondah Hwy. Go through Warburton and turn right into Riverside Drive.
For a real carbon-neutral holiday consider the ease of public transport: A bus that connects train passengers from Lilydale Station travels right into Warburton and within 2km of the Sanctuary.
Take the train to Lilydale station, then board the connecting 683 bus to Warburton, ask to get out at the Signs book publishing building. Riverside Drive is then almost diagonally opposite. Its a 2km walk to the Sanctuary.
You can also take your bikes on the bus or bike to Warburton along the rail trail.
