The layout is simple with one bathroom, a kitchen diner and a large family bedroom with a double bed and bunk. Whilst the decor is a little dated, the appartment offers a fully acceptable level of comfort, with oven and microwave, radio and satellite TV. The large shared garden is a haven in summer with an attractive BBQ terrace, swings and a ping pong table. In Winter our guests ski mostly on the Aineck and Katschberg, but the snowsure slopes of Obertauern (25 mins) are attractive to those who like to push their skipass to the limit.

St. Michael, Mauterndorf, Mariapfarr and Tamsweg are the surrounding villages with cute shops, lovely castles and cosy restaurants. In the winter the Ainneck-Katschberg ski run in St. Margarethen (connected to Katschberg) is only 5 minutes away, the Grosseck-Speiereck (St. Martin/St. Michael) only 10 minutes, Mauterndorf only 10 minutes and Obertauern 20 minutes. The small town boasts a good variety of Bars, Shops, Cafes, Bakeries, Supermarkets and Banks, whilst maintaining it's very traditional Austrian facade. Here you can enjoy year round festivals and celebrations including Autumns Samson Mann, or the magical Winter Advent Market with St Nikolaus and his Krampus (a creature you would not like to get on the wrong side of!). In Spring be witness to or join those climbing the various May Trees erected throughout the towns. In Summer join any one of the Wine, Food or Music Festivals, Childrens Events, watch Bycycle Races, observe (or join in) the huge Samsonman Running Race, classic car events, Motorbike Tours and many more options. The Church located in the town centre is well worth a visit, as are some smaller places of worship located within a short walk from the house. Set in the mountainside, the town boasts an idyllic heated outdoor pool with a mini golf course attached. There you can also delight in some really good cuisine for excellent value. In winter there are several Ski Areas to choose from, the nearest of which can be reached less than 1km from the Accommodation. The valley in total offers over 300km downhill piste with some good off piste opportunities and is mostly Snow-Sure from December to April each year. In addition to the downhill attraction there are nearly 200km of Cross Country tracks to follow. The Lungau is a very popular spot for Ski Tourers and detailed maps can be purchased from the Tourist Office. If you don't like to slide you could always go on an organised Winter Walk or Snow Shoe tour.                             St Martin Chalets were hand-built by expert carpenter Herbert Bliem and his team of local craftsman. The chalets are the perfect blend of old wood and traditional techniques with the latest in environmentally friendly insulation, underfloor heating, sunflower-oil-powered electricity, plus well-equipped central facilities with sauna and gym. The available chalet overlooks the central pond and is only 5 minutes from the main St Michael ski lift. The accommodation includes 3 double rooms (two of which can be twins), plus a wonderful converted loft space, which sleeps a further four-to-six (children love this!). The chalet is fully furnished and equipped with excellent kitchen and dining facilities - including all crockery, cutlery, fridge / freezer, linen, linen, towels and even a daily delivery of fresh bread (on request). The living area is open plan, with a large lounge and dining area set around a traditional Austrian stove (which can be lit for your return from the slopes if you request). Guests can pre-order groceries, which will be stocked in your cupboards when you arrive and you'll find a selection of games, DVDs and consoles as well as Digital TV. For those wanting to relax, there's a lovely sun terrace and BBQ area directly above the main pond.
