The SpaceHello! Nice to meet you.
Let me guide your around my home!
--- Tell me, where is it? ---
The duplex room is part of a 2,5 floor apartment in the middle of Antwerp: just an easy stroll (about 5 min) away from the Meir (Antwerp's main shopping street), trams, busses, train station and rental bikes.
The Keyserlei is also a 5 min walk from my place: there you can find numerous restaurants, a cinema, the zoo and a fitness.
You can find the the public library around the corner as well. It's on a little square where there's also a nice coffee bar. My favorite Thai place is not far away either. All spots are marked in the neighborhood guidebook I made here on Airbnb.
--- What does it look like? ---
Well, it's located in a typical old mansion (think: wooden floors, authentic elements, and very light: we love sunshine!) The apartment starts on the second floor of the house, please keep in mind there are some steps to climb (that's the way it goes in old mansions :)).
1st floor: laundry room & toilet
2nd floor: living room & kitchen
3rd floor: my bedroom, the shared bathroom (shower + toilet) and your place to stay (the duplex room)
You'll have your own private living area (couch, living room table, ...) & desk with stairs up to the sleeping area. The bathroom is shared (with me). There's a double sleeping bed/futon (with a standard bed mattress) and a fan for summer days & heating for winter.
Maximum 2 people can stay at the apartment. There's a blanket to get cozy in the couch, soap & shampoo in case you forgot & towels. I have a hair dryer you can use as well and if there's anything else you would need: just ask :)
Take a look around, and do let me know if you have any more questions!
Lau. Guest AccessYou'll have access to every room, except to my own bedroom. Interaction with GuestsI'm mostly out during the day (working) and weekends can be busy as well but I'm there in the evening if you have any questions or want to have a chat :) You'll have a lot of privacy as your room has its own living room & bureau but you're always welcome downstairs as well. The NeighborhoodI live in a lively multicultural neighbourhood, 5 mins away from the train / bus station & the Meir (the main shopping street).
You'll get a map & booklet filled with local hotspots. Antwerp is only 45 minutes (by train) from Brussels or Ghent. If you want to explore any other cities - I'm happy to help you out as well - just let me know!
You can always take a look at the Airbnb guidebook I filled in to check my favorite spots in the city. Getting Around--- Can I park my car? ---
(1) Yes, you can park your car in the street but don't forget to pay (from 9-19h for €0,70 to €1,10/hour) from Monday to Saturday.
(2) If you like to park your car inside, there are paid indoor parkings around the corner as well € 18 a day (Rooseveltplaats: see guidebook).
(3) The only free option is a 30 min walk or 10 min tram ride away, at the docks (Waalsekaai: see guidebook).
--- Can I rent a bike? ---
There are bikes around the corner you can rent, they are managed by the city and are called "Velo". You pick them up at one station and then drop them off at another one in the city (there are plenty around!).
You can order a day or week pass from the "Velo Antwerpen" website (in EN, FR and DE) with your credit card. You then get a code you can enter at the station to get your bike.
Prices are: €8/week or €3.6/day.
They are designed for short rides (approx 30 min each time) around the city (which will get you far, the city isn't that big).
--- How far is the apartment from the train station? ---
Only a 10 min walk (maximum!). You'll get the details of the route in your confirmation mail! Other Things to NoteMy apartment is officially registered as a guesthouse and therefore meets all the required safety regulations set by the city council (fire extinguishers, smoke alarms, emergency escape exists on every floor,...).
