The SpaceThe house itself is a country style house, simple in design, and has been updated over the years with ceramic tile floors throughout, new tile and fixtures in the bathrooms and kitchen, new wiring, 10 MB wi-fi internet connection, etc. So while it is not fancy, it is clean and spacious and has all of the comforts of home. We enjoy it, and think you will too!
This private suite has a comfortable Queen Size bed. There is a walk-in closet, private bath, Wi-Fi connection throughout the house and Veranda, and lots of peace and quiet. Guest AccessPlease make yourself at home, there is plenty of space. In the living room, you are welcome to watch a film or the upcoming World Cup games (Netflix, Cable TV, etc) on the new 46" LED screen (Smart TV w/ internet). For cool winter evenings, there is a working wood burning fireplace.
If you prefer to interact with your surroundings, you are welcome to relax in the 6,000 mt2 (aprox 1.5 acres) of tropical gardens, including a soccer field, swimming pool and playground. Or perhaps you'd enjoy just sitting on the varanda and watching the many tropical birds, including flocks of maritacas (wild parrots), woodpeckers, bananaquits, doves, hummingbirds, an occasional pair of toucans, with their young, as well as dozens of other species. There are Brazilian squirrels, and even Tamarin monkeys, in the treetops, from time to time.
We´ll fix you breakfast if you like (included), and you are free to use the fully equipped kitchen.
There is a churrasqueira (barbecue grill) as well. We have a washer and dryer, as well as large clothesline.
Plenty of free parking, inside the locked gate to the property.
Interaction with GuestsThe property has several buildings, one of which I occupy. There are four rooms in the main house, some or all of which may be occupied during your stay (you can rent more than one room if needed). The kitchen is shared. You will have your own key to your room, as well as to the gate and house, so you will be free to come and go as you please.
I love Brazil and São Paulo and am happy to offer any tips or directions you might need, suggestions for things to do, etc., but other than that, you will be on your own.
As an Airbnb guest myself in my international travels, I understand the importance of keeping the balance between being helpful and respecting your space.
I am a professional interpreter and do consulting for international events, as such my schedule is uncertain, but I am generally working at home several days per week. (Should you or your company require such services I would be happy to prepare an estimate for you or your organization.) The NeighborhoodGranja Viana is a traditionally "green" suburban area in São Paulo. In recent years some of the large country houses have given way to high end "gated communities", shopping centers and offices. (Our place is one of those "country houses" from the previous generation.) At the same time the "Centrinho da Granja", with its excellent variety of restaurants and local commerce, conserves the small town feel. Always a desirable place to live, The Granja now suffers a bit from its own success. (website hidden). Like other areas, it is sometimes castigated by São Paulo's legendary rush hour traffic snarls.
We are also located near historic Embu das Artes (15 minute drive), a 500 year old town, now famous for its hundreds of local artists and artisans, as well as it's restaurants and shops. There are a variety of art galleries and antique shops as well as a lively street fair that takes over the Plaza and the center of town on weekends and holidays. A great afternoon outing for visiting (and souvenir hunting). (website hidden).
The beautiful Zu Lai Buddhist Temple is also a short drive (10-15 minutes) (website hidden) Getting AroundThere is direct bus service to downtown and to the nearest metro station - Metro Butantã, as well as to the Barra Funda metro station, another important hub. (There are two bus stops, one right on the corner with less frequent service and one a 5 minute walk from the house with very frequent service. The house is located close to São Paulo's west zone, including Pinheiros, Cidade Jardim and Itaim Bibi, Morumbi and other important areas. Congonhas Airport (CGH - most domestic and shuttle flights) is a 26 minute drive, according to (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Maps, but actual travel time can vary widely depending on the time of day, traffic conditions, etc. Guarulhos Airport (GRU - International flights and some domestic flights) is located 46 minutes away, again according to (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps. Again, actual travel time can vary widely depending on the time of day, traffic conditions, etc. São Paulo residents usually allow plenty of extra time when planning important appointments and making travel plans, due to the sometimes unpredictable traffic.
There are airport buses to downtown, or the Airport Taxi service, direct to the house.
If you are travelling by automobile, the house is very convenient to the recently built Rodoanel, (a modern super highway that circles most of São Paulo).
