The world famous Margaree River produces native Brook & Brown Trout (April 14th - Sept 30th) & 6 - 30 LB wild Atlantic Salmon (June 1st -Oct 31st). The Margaree & it's trib's are perhaps most famous for the 2 genetically distinct big Salmon runs it produces each & every year. It's believed the Margie is North America's only Atlantic Salmon River with 2 genetically distinct Salmon runs. The summer run starts in late May & continuing into August. Most years that run has barely concluded when the Fall run starts heating up & it goes till the latter part of November. Fortunately for the Salmon the Margie is barbless hook & Catch & Release only, from June !st till the angling season closes on Oct 31st.

A favored time of mine is the end of the day... with a good scotch, listening to the tall tails from today or yesterday adventures... My tall tale... lol no one believes me so I'll save my breath... but I will say that fish lived to spawn, in her case at least, another generation of truly monsterous Atlantic Salmon. Not surprisingly more big fish are landed or lost around camp than on the rivers I've fished... but on most nights there's at least one pearl of truth that gets told... a true tale... one where the teller has a twinkle in his eye & serious conviction in his voice. That kind of tale will rekindle the fire for salmon fishing... those tale tales will unfailingly get you up before 5 am to walk along magnificent river & valley trails, though swirling morning mist, enjoying an exquisite sunrise.
You'll get to enjoy all these beautiful moments while watching 6 - 30 lb salmon leap, if for no other reason, than it's own peculiar celebration of life... but I guarantee what you'll experience will often humble you, surely inspire you, teach you patience, the value of hope & an deep appreciation of natural beauty & wildlife... Certainly for the days ahead, but if your moved by it... perhaps it will place a stamp on your soul forever.
