The SpaceGreat home, great part of the city. Our home is architecturally designed and has a total of three floors, with beautiful front and back gardens with a porch on the front and a back patio with BBQ and outdoor dining. It's ideally situated and very close to Halifax's Point Pleasant Park and is very close to downtown by foot or by car, and the highway to get to the airport or other parts of Nova Scotia, like beautiful ocean beaches and lakes. On the main floor, you can enjoy the living room with super comfortable leather couches and art from around the world, a kitchen with an espresso machine (yes!), dining room, and back patio. Upstairs is one guest room, and downstairs is another. A full bathroom is available for guest use on the main level (house is three levels, so bath is in the middle or main). Our house is very cyclist and sports friendly. We can hook you up for mountain or road bike rides, and we can connect you to the arts and theatre scene too. A solid network of great people, we have. You must like animals and not be allergic, as we have two cats, a huge Maine Coon (he's still a baby at2w years, and LOVES to play with aluminium foil balls), and a more mature female cat, who is much more mellow in nature. Ideally located, the house is close to Halifax's main multi-use trail (walking, jogging, biking, strolling). Bus stop is very close by, and there is room for on-street parking. It's a quick ride (5 min by car) to the downtown core of Halifax (less than 2km), and is within walking distance to sports facilities, the universities (Dal & SMU), Point Pleasant Park, Public Gardens, boutiques, health clinics, banks, pharmacies, restaurants, coffee shops, and grocery store. We live in the house and we keep it clean and orderly. We would like you to keep it that way too. You'll have a private room in either space (large 450 sq-foot Guest Suite #1 downstairs from main level or Bedroom #2 upstairs from main level) to enjoy while you stay with us. You would have to like our friendly, playful, but shy (he's still a "youth" and getting used to new people) cat (dog-cat), and more mature mellow chubby feline who is also friendly, and will love you forever for food! You'll have access to have wireless internet. Both guest spaces have queen sized beds with new queen mattresses, and doors that close off spaces to make them your personal space. We offer Guest Suite #1 first to guests, as it is an entire suite with more privacy away from main living area - with full-size couch, armchair, dresser, teak desk, teak Queen-size murphy bed with new mattress, closet, and a fridge around the corner. A portable heater too, as you may want your personal space warmer that we like the home! GREAT deck / garden areas to enjoy as well. Pricing for rooms: each room is full price as listed in the "price" field of the listing. An additional person for each bedroom is $20 extra as listed in the "additional person" field of the listing. Example #1: Three people book and want both rooms. Two people stay in one room, one on another. For the room with two people, it is $Full price + $20 (for the additional person). For the other queen room with the third person, it is $Full price. Example #2: Two people book, but want separate rooms. It is $Full price for each room, or $Full price per person. Example #3: Two people book, but want to share a queen bedroom. It is $Full price for the room plus and $20 for the second person. I speak English, French, and... :), and we really enjoy cross-cultural exchanges and experiences. Welcome to Urban Oasis. Guest AccessGuests have access to wifi, and common living areas are shared (living room, dining room, kitchen). Guests are welcome to enjoy the back yard oasis. As well, there is a fridge by the Guest suite on the bottom floor for guest food. The furnace room is not an area of access, except to re-set modem and access fridge. Interaction with GuestsIf you have any questions, we'll be pleased to help you get to know our lovely city. We welcome conversation, but also respect your desire to "do your own thing." We're always around during guest stay, either during the day or the evening, so although you will have a private living area, we share the home with our guests. The NeighborhoodThe neighbourhood is FANTASTIC: close to a lovely park (Point Pleasant Park), walking trail, universities, a sports facility, the bus stop, grocery, boutiques, historic and beautiful Public Gardens, and downtown Halifax, museums, and the waterfront. It is a safe and quiet residential area in the heart of the city with beautiful trees, and lovely gardens. Getting AroundThe bus stop is only a few hundred meters away and will take you downtown. Metro Transit #10. If you prefer to walk, it's 15 min to Spring Garden Road and the Public Gardens. Parking is available on the street outside the house. During the week, there are timed restrictions during daylight hours. Evenings, weekend, and holiday on-street parking is 24-hour available. Other Things to NoteWe have two cats that we love :) We're a shoes off at the door home. We'll be glad to help you enjoy the most of our city once you tell us what you're looking to do. We're happy to brew a pot of coffee for you in the morning. We're happy to share a fridge downstairs next to Guest Suite #1 for your food, and the kitchen on the main floor for cooking if you so choose. We respect, and expect the same. We love our city and hope you do too!

The SpaceWe are offering a private bedroom in a vibrant shared house in central Halifax. The house has a sunny south facing backyard, large family kitchen, living room and bathroom with a deep claw foot tub. All linens can be provided if you need them. Street parking is available and wireless internet is provided as well. The house is located in the heart of Halifax, within 15 minutes walking distance of Citadel hill, the Halifax Metro Centre, Neptune theater, Alexander Keith’s brewery and shopping on Spring Garden Road. Walk towards the water and within 5 minutes you can be on the Halifax waterfront, breathing the sea air or visiting one of the many shops or restaurants in the Historic Properties area, including the Hart and Thistle Gastropub or Cow's Ice cream! Fifteen minutes in the other direction will take you to the historic Hydrostone area. If you are up for a 30 minute walk along the waterfront (or 10 minute drive) you will arrive at the Seaport farmer’s market and historic Pier 21. Your hosts are a young professional couple, our room mate and our two dogs, a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Basset Hound, Hudson and Roy! The pups are Very loveable and won't go in your room unless you invite them in - how could you resist? Together we enjoy cooking using fresh, local ingredients. We are passionate about entertaining in a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere. If you have any questions or are looking to stay longer than one or two nights please feel free to get in touch with me. Thanks! Guest AccessFull access to main floor: Living room, kitchen, bathroom. Feel free to use cooking facilities and dishes. Access to backyard and deck. Laundry on site can be used with permission. Interaction with GuestsMy husband and I work full time but feel free to interact with us when we are around. If you have any questions, feel free to call/text or leave a question on the island in the kitchen - we'll see that right away! The NeighborhoodPopular dining areas around town are the waterfront boardwalk (Gahan House), Gottigen St. (Edna) and Agricola St. (Agricola St. Brasserie). Walking around our neighbourhood is convenient, but a little "gritty" and could be described as "gentrifying." Downtown is about a $10 cab ride. Call Yellow Cab at ((PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) or Casino taxi at ((PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN). Getting AroundParking in Halifax is tricky - especially in the winter. There is no off street parking. Pay attention to all posted signs and if there is snow, there may be a street parking ban on. If that's the case, there are several businesses near by that you can hide out at or the underground lot at the hospital ($4 overnight until 8am). The best way to get to our place from the airport is by bus. The airport shuttle Halifax drop-off location is only a 15 minute walk away. Cabs from the airport are about $65+tip. Popular dining areas around town are the waterfront boardwalk (Gahan House), Gottigen St. Other Things to NoteThis is a shared house with 2 univeristy students that may be on a different schedule and my husband and I or you as a guest. They are very quiet and respectful; however, please do not be alarmed if there are people coming and going! Feel free to ask for more detail on this if interested. Also, there is a large Bernese Mountain Dog and a cat in the house. They are very docile and friendly but not especially cuddly. Sort of a live and let live situation.

The SpaceSteps from the best patisserie and best pizza in Halifax and in the area of the city's best new restaurants. The bedroom is on the second floor and has a queen bed. The house has an added bonus of gym equipment on the bottom level including free weights, treadmill and stationary bike. A gas barbecue is available outside. The entire house could be rented for $845 per week for one or two week periods if available. Guest AccessGuests have access to everything in the house and in the morning coffee, muffins, toast, and fresh fruit are available. Guests are welcome to prepare eggs as they wish. Interaction with GuestsI will interact with guests as little or as much as they want depending on my schedule. The NeighborhoodThe Hydrostone homes are almost 100 years old and have been designated as city heritage properties. The area is very convenient to the main city access routes, the downtown and shopping malls. However, Halifax's growing fine dining scene is within easy walking distance. The main supermarket is a 10 minute walk, Fort Needham park and the Halifax explosion memorial bell tower is at the end of the street, 3 coffee shops are within a 3 minute walk, and the Coastal Cafe which is rated "Halifax's best breakfast" is nearby. Getting AroundThe main bus route is one street away. Other Things to NoteCoastal Cafe and Mary's Place Cafe are both excellent and are examples of the gems that typically only the locals know about. Fortunate that both are within a short walk!

The Space** Please contact me via message BEFORE submitting a Reservation Request! Sometimes I am slow to respond, since I travel regularly for work. Thanks for understanding! ABOUT: The house has an urban cottage vibe and peaceful atmosphere. It is a classic east coast mid-20th century townhouse with a lot of character. There are two bedrooms (one master and one mid-size) on the second floor, one large bathroom with a bathtub/shower, a large kitchen full of the necessary tools and appliances, and a cosy living room. The house is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible - there is a small staircase leading into the house. People live in the house and it is full of books and records, but we keep it clean and tidy. If you are renting the whole house, I will be here to greet you and then we will leave you to enjoy the space. The whole house is thoroughly cleaned for each visit, and fresh bedding and towels are provided for guests. Laundry is available. Please note that the house is not equipped with television or wi-fi. LOCATION: We have a great location! The house is located on a residential street 15 minute walk to downtown Halifax, and a 5 minute walk from the MacDonald Bridge, which connects Halifax to Dartmouth. The house is located 3 minutes from the famous Halifax Commons (the large central park) and we have access to free street parking around the corner. The house is 20 ft from a major bus route. We are located steps away from coffee shops, restaurants, live music venues, locally sourced organic market, and 15-minute walk from a large supermarket. Please take note that the neighborhood is a vibrant one, and tends to be a crossroads for people and vehicles coming and going. As a result, it's not the quietest street in Halifax, but it is safe and friendly. NEIGHBORHOOD: The neighborhood is diverse. Buddy Daye is an intersection for everything from young families and artists to low-income housing and condominiums. The word 'gentrification' comes up a lot. Although the area has its gritty sides, it's a wonderful place to live and experience, and my partner and I have felt safe and comfortable here for the past 6 years. However, we don't assume that everyone else will feel the same way about the neighborhood, but if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Free parking is available too - just pay attention to the street signs! Guest AccessGuest will get their own keys, and are welcome to come and go. Guests will have access to all facilities, fresh towels and linens. Interaction with Guests* Please note, I travel a lot and often out of the country. Airbnb messages don't fully show up on my mobile phone. Based on this, please be patient and I will get back to you as soon as possible. I will treat you with respect and I anticipate the same in return! The NeighborhoodNEIGHBORHOOD: We are located in Halifax's diverse and colourful 'North End'. The neighborhood is full of young entrepreneurs, small businesses, restaurants, cafes, a library, live music venues, and more. Everything in Halifax is walking distance from here, it's a great location. Buddy Daye is an intersection for everything from young families and artists to low-income housing and condominiums. The SpaceThis house has two bedrooms, den, upstairs full bath, living room, dining room and easy-to-navigate kitchen with a dishwasher and a hot-water tap. The front of the house has a newly landscaped entrance with a small porch and bistro set to enjoy the sunny mornings. The backyard is quite spacious for houses on the peninsula and faces west providing much sun and warmth, but you can always find some shade if needed and is fenced-in allowing for much privacy. The spacious deck area has separate dining and living room areas equipped with patio furniture and a BBQ offering a great way to enjoy outdoor meals or relax after a day of adventure. Utilities are included with price (heat, hot water, electricity, washer and dryer, wireless Fibre Op Internet [90 mbps] and FREE local and long-distance calling anywhere in North America). Guest AccessYou have access to the entire house and backyard with plenty of parking in the newly-paved driveway and/or on the street. NOTE: Due to street cleaning, do not park on street from 12 am to 8 am Thursdays. During the winter months, the city clears the sidewalks of snow; however it is the renter’s responsibility to clear the snow off the driveway. We do this in order to reduce the costs of renting. We do provide snow shovels and normally we do not get much snow. Interaction with GuestsIt is easy to contact us if you have any concerns or need any guidance during your stay. The NeighborhoodWithin walking distance is the Hydrostone Market that has several great restaurants (sushi, pizza, Epicurious Morsels), Starbucks coffee, bakery, cafe, antiques and even an olive oil/balsamic vinegar shop. Also nearby is a cafe/bistro that specializes in healthy options as well as natural health products and hand-made gelato and sorbetto. They have open mic on Fridays and are also hosting an international film festival in June and other events. For those looking for a different take, the non-trendy Lion's Head offers local microbrew on tap and pub food with plenty of TVs to watch the game or enjoy energized Karaoke Friday and Saturday nights. Further down the street, Good Robot offers a variety of events in their tap room and the Lion and Bright is a great place to enjoy a microbrew/wine with a delicious meal in a trendy atmosphere. The Hydrostone Groceteria serves as our closest convenience store one block away with a lot of different products. A large grocery store (Super Store) with attached liquor store is a 10 minute walk away (small convenience store 2 blocks from the house) and several other nearby restaurant options. Two blocks away to pick up microbrew from our local store. For families trying to beat the heat a playground/waterpark fits the bill. Fort Needham (5 minutes) has a great view of the city and has full tennis courts, walking paths and the Memorial Bell Tower to the victims of the 1917 Halifax Explosion. The neighbourhood is very walkable with ample green space. Getting AroundThe location in the North End allows you quick access to downtown (5 minute drive) and is close to both bridges to get over to Dartmouth or easily to the airport and/or out of the city. The major shopping districts (Bayers Lake, Dartmouth Crossing, Halifax Shopping Centre, Mic Mac Mall, and Spring Garden Road) are all within a 10 minute drive. Walking down Agricola Street 25 minutes you will arrive at the Halifax Commons--an urban park with recreational facilities--during the winter months (Dec. to March) it is the location of the Halifax Oval for outdoor ice skating (summer it is an in-line skate track). We realize that people staying in Halifax will be visiting areas towards city center which is only a 5 minute drive by car. Otherwise, your options to get from our house to city centre are as follows. Walking: We walk quite a bit and it takes around 40 minutes past the Halifax Commons and Citadel Hill to get downtown. Overall it is fairly flat with the steeper hills near the Harbourfront. We usually break up the walk stopping at shops/restaurants along the way. To be honest, it is quite enjoyable if you are not opposed to a little exercise. Bus: One block away from the house on Robie St., you can catch the #7 bus that runs along Robie St. passes North St., Quinpool Rd, Spring Garden Rd. then turns on South St. and then onto Barrington St. running through downtown. It returns along Gottingen and then passes by the Hydrostone Market. This bus runs roughly every 25 minutes and costs $2.50 per person (10 tickets for $20). Taxi: From our house to anywhere on the peninsula costs roughly $10. Taxi service is amazing in the city with little wait time. From the airport it is a flat rate of $63; to the airport is $58. (We use Casino Taxi) Maritime Bus runs shuttles from the airport ($22 each way; $40 round trip). As well, limit public transportation (bus #320 runs between downtown and the airport). Car: There are several car rental agencies 3 blocks away on Kempt Rd. if you want to rent a car during your stay and do not want to rent a car from the airport and have it for the entire trip. Carshare: Down the street at 5817 Demone St (near Agricola) (4 blocks away) is one parking space for Carshare where you can rent a vehicle by the hour/day for reasonable rates. Longer periods of time it is best to rent from a rental agency. Other Things to NoteFor longer stays, we would ask guests to water house plants if needed and to note that Tuesday morning is compost, recycling, and/or garbage pickup at the curb. You are more than welcome to help water the garden, but it is not expected. There are many great things to check out in the neighbourhood (for full listing, please check out our guidebook). If you have any questions, feel free to contact us! The house is professionally cleaned before and after each guest with all sheets and towels washed and bathroom, floors and kitchen cleaned. If you would like a cleaning during an extended stay, you can hire our cleaning person.

There is a lot of exterior stairs to get up to my house so it is not ideal for those with mobility problems. Interaction with GuestsMy guests can expect to have as much or as little communication with me or my husband Matt as they would like, however I am often not present during check in and check out times due to schedule conflicts. If the guests prefer to have me present I can make that happen sometimes, and I am ALWAYS available by phone, email, or text message and my husband is as well. I aim to provide a pleasant experience for guests, and to allow them their privacy. Aside from checking in once in a while during longer stays, my goal is allow my guests their privacy and to enjoy their stay and I am just a phone call or email away if anything is needed or they have questions! The NeighborhoodThe Armdale area of Halifax is a wonderful spot to be in! We are centrally located within the city of Halifax, making it an easy commute to other areas in and out of the city. The SpaceCome explore our quaint city and stay in a comfortable flat. The flat is on the main floor of an old house that is converted to 6 apartments. The bedroom that is available is in the back of the apartment. You will be sharing the flat with me and my little dog. Breakfast is not provided, but tea is plentiful! You can make coffee in a coffee press, or there's a Tim Horton's a couple blocks away (along with several other coffee shops). I have a friendly little dog who enjoys visitors too. He is non-shedding (havanese mix?) and very cute and quiet! He is family to me, so you must respect that. He's kind of like a teddy bear and will not cause you any disturbance. Please mention my dog and that you're a non-smoker so I know you are okay with being in a space with a dog and will not be smoking. Guest AccessYou may use the kitchen, but please be mindful with foods with gluten. Please follow instructions in house manual to prevent contaminating my food and dishes. Access to living room with Wii, dvd, Netflix, books and games. There's coin laundry upstairs. $1.50/load for the washer and for the dryer. Street parking is plentiful around the corner. There might be parking in the building parking lot, but can't be guaranteed. Interaction with GuestsDepends on the guests and my schedule. If I have time, I'm happy to have a meal or a drink together or to show you around a bit. I work from home a lot, so it's not hard to get a hold of me. I can minimally provide you with suggestions, directions, advice for transport, etc. I have a lot of tourist brochures and am happy to give suggestions for things to do, restaurants, etc. Because I work from home a lot, I prefer to have guests who have things to do in the area and will not be watching movies in the living room for many hours per day. If you want to have your space and privacy, that's fine too. Just please keep in mind that you're sharing the flat with me, and it's preferable to at least be cordial when we bump into each other. The NeighborhoodSafe, quiet, residential neighbourhood with the beautiful Northwest Arm a few blocks away in one direction and the Quinpool commercial district a few blocks in the other direction. The Oxford Theatre is a great single plex cinema, lots of delicious restaurants, and shops for whatever you need. The St. Mary's Boathouse is a few blocks away with kayaks and canoes for rent. This is my home. Unless I'm traveling, you'll be sharing the apartment with me. I'm a professional who works from home a lot. I have a small, friendly dog. Getting AroundThere are 4 bus routes very close by (ranging from 20 feet away to 4 blocks away). About a 30-40 minute walk to various downtown attractions, and about a 20 to 25 minute walk to hospitals, 15-20 minute walk to Dalhousie University, 10-15 minute walk to beautiful Chocolate Lake. About a 5-10 minute drive anywhere on the peninsula, 20-30 minutes to beaches, 30 minutes to Peggy's Cove. There's also bike rental on the water front. Yellow cab: (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) Casino taxi: (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) For getting here from the airport, there are a few options: - Airport 320X bus - makes 4 stops; $3.50 (coins needed); just be aware that it might not come to Halifax on weekends due to bridge construction. Check online for the schedule changes. Normally goes to Scotia Square in downtown Halifax. From there you can take a taxi for ~$8-10, or take bus #1 from Barrington St to Oxford and Quinpool Rd and then walk a few blocks - Driver Dave - $35 - scheduled pick up, book in advance (reserve online) - Shuttle bus to hotels - $20? - get off at Atlantica and walk ~1 km or take a taxi from the hotel - car rental - Depending on my schedule, I might be able to pick you up from the airport for $15 gas and tolls compensation; or if you take the bus, I might be available to pick you up for free. Other Things to NoteThere is a cleaning lady who comes every other Thursday morning, and sometimes more depending on turnover in guests. If you want her to clean the bedroom floor, please pick up your belongings from the floor and let me know it's ok for her to go in the room. Throughout your stay, you are expected to clean up after yourself in the kitchen (e.g., wiping down counters, stove top, sink, and loading dishwasher after each meal) and bathroom (e.g., wiping down sink, faucet, and mirror after brushing teeth or shaving).

The SpaceThis is a great little apartment with 3 bedrooms and a comfortable living space. It is ideal for work trips or family visits when you might need some down time and desire a kitchen. It sleeps 6 (with 2 sharing each of 3 beds) but is probably more comfortable for slightly smaller groups if you plan on spending a lot of time at the apartment. There is dinnerware for 8, but the kitchen table really only seats 4. The apartment will be clean and well appointed on your arrival. You can expect to find: -Towels, Hand towels, & face cloths - Hair Dryer - Coffee, tea, sugar and sweetener. - A well stocked kitchen with pots, pans, some bakeware, and the necessary cooking utensils. - An electric kettle, a french press, toaster, microwave and nice new appliances including dishwasher. -Laundry soap, dish soap, paper towel, tinfoil, ziplocks, and Tupperware for storing food or taking lunches. - TV, DVD player, and Bluetooth wireless or AUX input iHome stereo. - Reusable grocery bags for making trips to the store. - Some welcome favors. Guest AccessGuests will have access to the entire apartment throughout their stay. There is a shared laundry area which can be used when available. Unfortunately there is no parking available on the premises. Interaction with GuestsWe can have as much interaction as you would like. If I am around I am more than happy to make recommendations on places to eat or visit or day trips. if you are booking a lengthy stay we will be in to clean, change sheets and replace linens on a weekly basis. I live just a few minutes down the street if any problems arise. The NeighborhoodThis a very central location and only a short walk to downtown nightlife, Universities, and other activities on the peninsula. There are parks within walking distance and many coffee shops. Shopping is also nearby as is entertainment options. Getting AroundPublic transit is just outside the door, although walking is very easy from this location. There is not designated parking space with the apartment and guests will have to park on the street. Fortunately parking in the neighborhood is free, with a catch - on Weekdays there are time limits on how long you can occupy a space (1 or 2 hours depending on the street) between 8 and 6 pm. You can leave your car in any designated space overnight or on weekends. The easiest way to get from the airport is to take the Airporter shuttle and get off at the Atlantica Hotel, which is just 2 blocks away. Other Things to NoteThis apartment is in a Triplex. Laundry is free but is shared with another unit so it will not be available 100% of the time/you may have to wait to use it.
