We are in the Kaszuby region of the Valley, the first Polish settlement in Canada. The cottage is secluded, surrounded by forest from the south, east, west, and Halfway Lake to the north. We guarantee you will enjoy unspoiled stargazing, stunning sunrises, and relax to the wind and loon calls. A beautifully appointed two bedroom cottage. The SpaceWelcome to our Cottage! We believe one of the most important elements of a great vacation is getting the best sleep possible. That's why we have 4 comfy bedrooms and a loft that offer all-you-need, for a deep, restful sleep during your stay. Each bedroom and the loft has a fan, several pillows and freshly washed linens and blankets. The bedrooms also have end tables, lamps, a closet and chest of drawers for storage. Three of the bedrooms have a cozy queen bed, one bedroom has two twin beds and the loft has two equally comfortable queen beds. The loft is very large and (listed as the 5th bedroom) overlooks the living room with a curtain for privacy (even though it's already very private), it has limited storage but loads of floor space, two side tables and a lamp. The loft can be very warm during the day, in summer months, so not ideal for hanging out during the day. However, it cools down nicely in the evenings. Spare blankets are always available, for cooler nights. THE LIVING ROOM is a place for everyone to get together. It features a HUGE rustic stone FIRE PLACE, 24 FT. ceilings, and a bar with storage and beverage fridge. There are two leather couches and a large coffee table made of reclaimed barn wood - perfect for playing board games. There's a large TV with NETFLIX and lots of dvds. You won't have any trouble finding indoor activities with oodles of puzzles, playing cards, books and board games; Pictionary (bring some sketch paper - we don't always check to restock), Monopoly, Jenga, Scrabble and more. Yes, there's WI-FI (password available upon arrival) and a desk with lamp that provides space for a laptop and writing. Windows span the entire front of the house with 3 sliding doors that open onto the large - approx. 1200 SQ. FT. DECK. The deck has MULTIPLE LEVELS with newer portions that have recently been updated and parts that we're finishing this spring. There's a large rectangular picnic table (seats 8), medium circular picnic table with umbrella (seats 5-6), one small table and 4 chairs, a small low side table, and 3 wooden loungers. If you prefer a softer seat, we recommend you bring a couple of your lawn chairs or loungers. Some folks don't enjoy sitting on Muskoka or wooden chairs. There's also a propane BBQ for your grilling pleasure and propane fire table that can be used even during fire bans. THE NOOK has 2 wicker couches that are very comfy, a wicker and glass coffee table perfect for a game of Scrabble. And, brick fireplace - a special place to enjoy the sunrise over the lake while sipping your morning coffee. THE KITCHEN is well equipped with NEW APPLIANCES - microwave, oven, fridge, stove top - and dishwasher. We've included all the staples - flour, oil, spices, coffee & filters, sugar - we simply ask that you replace any you use up. There are 5 pots, a colander, 4 frying pans, a roasting pan, a large Pyrex dish, 2 casserole dishes, 4 mixing bowls & utensils, large serving bowls & platters, veggie trays, 2 rolling pins, 12 dinner plates, 12 bowls, 12 dessert plates, cutlery, steak knives, carving knives, larger serving bowls and platters, glasses, cups, mugs, wine glasses, blender, a coffee maker, kettle, toaster, and crock pot. All provided so that you may cook up a feast. There's a large, live edge table near the kitchen, under a solarium window by the nook area, under the solarium window. It seats 8 but you can fit 2 more chairs at each end, if needed. We keep the place CLEAN but remember this is a cottage on a lake with sandy grounds and a forest with wild life and YES, BUGS. Sometimes mosquitoes, black flies and sand get inside. It's best to keep the screens closed all the time. As with most cottages, the floor can't be perfectly clean at all times. You can vacuum and/or mop during your stay or simply wear flip flops inside, if you prefer. THE WATERFRONT is great for kids of all ages and swimmers of all levels. It's shallow with a gradual entry and mostly sandy bottom. We recommend water shoes because there are rocks and mushy parts in places. The cottage and deck sit low and close to the water. Our dock is accessible by a path that little ones and those that may not be as steady on their feet, may need a hand navigating. The dock has ample space to lounge and reaches out over deeper water. We find the best part of the beach is by the dock because it has more sand. We're on a CLEAR LAKE, surrounded by forest and part Crown Land. We do have neighbours nearby, but it's very quiet most of the time, fairly private, and enjoyable for an escape from everyday life. There's a propane fire pit so you'll never need to worry about missing out, due to fire bans. You'll need to - and it's fun - to hunt down your own marshmallow stick - there are plenty of skinny branches lying around the forest. Guest AccessParking is free and plenty. Plenty of room for a trailer with a boat, snowmobiles. When parking - please don't park right in front of the door - that's the septic tank! It'll crack and that would be costly to fix. Thanks. Our driveway has a fairly steep hill that can present a problem in extreme weather and/or seasonal conditions. It's best to judge it before coming down the hill. Otherwise, there's also lots of room to park at the top. Note: We prefer you take a little run at it when going back up so you don't dig up the driveway. It is possible to launch small boats from our beachfront and there's another launch down the road. SNOWMOBILERS' DESTINATION RIDE! Arrive after a perfect day's ride to a pot of chilli, refreshments, and a great place to kick back and relax. We'll work with you to arrange for groceries and other necessities to be here when you arrive. We're convenient to the trails. Ride the lake at your own risk. Interaction with GuestsWe're always available via airbnb before your stay and by text during, for any questions you may have, to make sure your stay is spectacular :-). The Neighborhood- Maple Leaf General Store and Gas Station is minutes away, south on Hwy 62 - Maynooth is minutes away with an LCBO and charming stores filled with local art, south on Hwy 62 - Algonquin Park (a huge 7630 Square km wildlife preserve) East gate - 64 km - 24 km to Madawaska Kanu Center and White Water Rafting - Bancroft, the "Gem Capital of Canada" is 40 km away with grocery stores, restaurants and more - 36 km Barry’s Bay - 50 km Egan Chutes Provincial Park - Steps out the door to hit the Snowmobile trails. Getting AroundPlease note: there are some steep areas on the road getting in as well as our driveway. Please drive slowly and take your time. It isn't hard to navigate but you do need to be alert. Other Things to NoteWe've replaced the couches in the living room, installed new flooring and painted all the bedrooms (new photos coming) and put in a new stove top.

The cottage is located 10 km west of the full service community of Barry's Bay, Ontario along the Highway 60 corridor heading towards the East Gate of Ontario's great Algonquin Park. The cottage is easily accessible from the main highway along a very good access road. The cottage is positioned on a quiet "dead-end" road for local traffic only off of the main access road at the north west end of Carson Lake. Approximately 4 1/2 hours from Toronto and 2 hours from the Nation's capital city, Ottawa. Getting AroundA car is required to get to this property. Parking at the cottage and on the road. Quiet dead-end road with local traffic only. A full service community (Barry's Bay) is only 10 km away. Other Things to NoteNestled among the trees and positioned in close proximity to the lake, the cottage is private and peaceful. The lakefront is yours to enjoy. The sound of the loons calling in the night is haunting yet serene. The fresh air makes for the best sleeps. Great hiking nearby. Whitewater rafting nearby. Ontario's great Algonquin Provincial Park is reachable in less than one hour. Other local attractions include Bonnechere Caves. Fishing in season permitted. Cute and touristy town with shopping and services is less than 10 km away - Hospital with Emergency room, Grocery stores, Liquor, Beer Store, Bakery, Library, Pharmacy, Gas stations, Hardware, Sporting stores, coffee shops. The cottage DOES NOT have Wifi. Wi-fi hotspots are available in Barry's Bay, which is the closest full service community near the cottage (Local tourist info - seasonal; Tim Horton's coffee shop). Cellular coverage by Rogers/Telus network is good (4G). The lack of connectivity was decided based on the fact that we want people (our family included) to enjoy the outdoor spaces and to lavish in the natural world - to forget the connected world just for a little bit of time. Drinking water is provided as the water for the cottage is pulled from the lake. The lake water is not routinely tested for potability therefore it is advised to use the drinking water provided for consumption. Additional water can be purchased locally. Fire pit is the only area where fires are permitted. Collect only dead wood for the fire and use wood provided or purchase locally. There is NO laundry at the cottage. There is a clothes line for drying clothes, towels, swim suits. Wastewater is stored in a holding tank. All grey water and contaminated water (toilets) is stored. This isn't the city. Please exercise water conservation; don't waste water by leaving the taps running as all water goes into the holding tank which we have to get pumped out and disposed of when the tank is full. If we conserve water, we reduce the need to pump out the tank as often and ensure that the plumbing works properly for everyone. Please just be mindful.
