The SpaceThis is an upscale apartment on Lake Ontario with a spectacular view and amenities. Guest AccessGenerally the guests have access to most amenities if the owner allows it with superintendents. Interaction with GuestsBecause I live in the building, there is some minimal interaction and ease of access to me if there is a problem. The NeighborhoodThis is a quiet building and neighbourhood with few children present, little traffic, noise or pollution. The SpaceFantastic views over the city and lake in a peaceful rural setting that is just a short distance from Toronto and Hamilton airports and few minutes to the major highways. This ground level, private suite is an ideal place from which to explore the area and cities around the Niagara escarpment, hike on the Bruce Trail, and enjoy a country retreat. Newly renovated with two comfortable bedrooms, great kitchen and living area and a private deck. Wake up to the sunrise over Lake Ontario. Step out to hike on Bruce Trail running through the back yard. A 10 minute drive to GO Train, Lake Ontario and the shops and restaurants of downtown Burlington. Separate entrance, mudroom area for storage of bikes, snowshoes, etc. There is parking (for up to two cars). Washer and dryer (shared with owner) in common room next to apartment. I love to show people around the property, get them started out on the trail and/or head down for some music and a beer at the pub nearby. (half hour walk down, taxi back). In summer months guests are welcome to get seasonal vegetables and herbs from my garden for their meals and join me out there anytime lol! This is a beautiful place in all seasons. The best I can describe it is a cozy, cottage type retreat with spectacular city views. The property backs onto the family pear orchards, but has convenient access through a quiet residential street in north Burlington. I would suggest a car unless you are hiking through on the Bruce Trail or on a biking trip. In winter conditions a vehicle with good winter tires or 4 wheel drive is a necessity as the driveway is on quite a hill. (We do get plowed out by the farm tractor very quickly when it snows). There is a city bus stop about a 15 minute hike from here, which will get you to downtown, shopping or restaurants and the GO Train station with frequent trains to Toronto and other cities. Toronto Pearson Airport and Hamilton airport are less than an hour drive from here. (depending on traffic of course) I love having guests and sharing this place with people from around the world. The SpaceThis is a cottage in the city. We are just 5 minutes from theatres and yet just below the Niagara Escarpment World Biosphere. There are attached neighbours who are courteous and kind with a dog. The road is close to the house an although rural it can be noisy at times. The 403 is about 2km away and as one guest pointed out traffic sounds can be heard. I have lived here and noise isn't an issue. Guest AccessThis is totally self contained apartment attached to a house and we have 2 acres with 2 houses on the same property. They were both built to house workers for the farm which no longer exists so they have been rentals for their entire history. I have largely rebuilt them and put them back into my interpretation of what they might have looked like but since previous owner let the occupants do what ever they liked I had to guess. It looks good so you won't be disappointed. There is a large patio as seen in the photos and this is exclusive to the unit. There is a picnic table and BBQ on the patio now. Interaction with GuestsI am a hiker and amateur photographer and am available for walks if you need guided tours of any sort. If you are interested in walking the Bruce Trail we have 2 other properties within walking distance where you can also stay. All can be seen by looking at my reviews. The NeighborhoodWe back onto the Niagara Escarpment and the Bruce Trail. You can walk there in about 5 minutes and there are great vistas looking out to Burlington and Lake Ontario/Hamilton Harbour. Getting AroundYou will need a car or if you are a cyclist, this works too. Taxis are available and since we are close to the core they won't be too expensive for the additional distance. The GO station is about 5 minutes away by car. Other Things to NoteThis is a remote part of Burlington and cell coverage can be spotty depending on your provider but there is a free land line provided. Civilization isn't that far but it can be a challenge here. This property is septic. There is a land line with free North America long distance. All other chargeable calls are charged back to the guest +25%.
