The SpaceUnique Vintage CN Box Car Train Cottage Boxcar History: Our Canadian Pacific Boxcar Train is one of a few that were built between 1896 and 1914. They roamed the railways, carrying freight all across Canada and the U.S.A. for half a century. Boxcars had a capacity of 40 tons, and carried grains to the market along with manufactured goods of all kinds. Until about the 1960’s, they began to be replaced by specialized top-load/bottom-discharge covered hopper cars. Reserve use of: bikes, boats, snow shoes, chemical free hot tub or swimming pool. The NeighborhoodUtopia is truly a slice of heaven and is a peaceful and healing haven for those seeking relaxation and restoration of the body, mind and soul. I spent many days in the box car cabin and felt all the stress of the city melt away as I listened to the beauty of nature surround me. In terms of price, it was an exceptional value. I have yet to see a place offer so many amenities at this price. I also don’t use any toxic, chemical cleaners or products in my home, so to find a place where everything was natural was a huge bonus. The box car cottage is very comfortable and I had a restful sleep and enjoyed listening to the gentle sounds of nature sing me to sleep. I was able to maintain my healthy diet, enjoy a cup of tea, cook great meals (often with wild, organic food provided by Vera from her property) enjoy a dip in the spring pond and soak up some sun on the patio of the box car. I enjoyed taking showers and drinking the water, knowing that the quality is excellent and comes from a pristine artesian well located on the land. A friend of mine specializes in finding “great quality water” and when he had a dip in the spring pond, it was a taste of heaven and he verified the exceptional quality. There are lots of activities to enjoy at this lovely retreat. I had a wonderful time walking the large property, looking for and picking the most amazing herbs (like stinging nettle, thyme, sage, oregano, parsley, etc.) plus incredibly healthy, wild foods like mushrooms, fiddleheads, wild leeks etc. After picking a bag full of goodies, I proceeded to enjoy a beautiful session of yoga in the screened gazebo which overlooks a gorgeous view of the river and property. It is a breathtaking view and extremely tranquil. You can also meditate or read a book there. Then I proceeded to the river and used some of the rich and mineral dense mud by the shoreline and blissed out in the sun! What a great spa treatment; the same procedure would have cost at least $50-120 at a high end spa! I then took a divine dip into the spring fed pond and then went for a magical kayak ride to explore the land - you can canoe/kayak all the way to Wassaga beach so you can really have an adventure with this! There are some rare birds I saw in my travels on the property and all kinds of wildlife to marvel at, it’s truly an ongoing adventure with so much to experience. Other days I took a book and a blanket to sit by the cliff that has a breathtaking view of the lookout and river. This is one of my favourite spots on the property! The view is priceless and the peace that surrounds you is beyond words. Finally, at night, I loved to take my flashlight and walk around the property to see the stars and enjoy some light exercise and fresh air. Then having a swim in their chemical free pool and hot tub to end off the night was supremely satisfying! There are very few places that can provide a non-toxic environment, especially in pools, as Vera has done successfully. Everything is clean and it is such a great experience to be able to enjoy a hot tub or pool without worrying about chlorine and toxic chemicals. This was a real treat. I can’t say enough good things about this place - it is truly an experience you will not regret. Vera is an exceptional host and she goes out of her way to make sure you are comfortable and she leaves no stone unturned in terms of providing full and exceptional service and accommodations for her guests. She is very friendly and is also very knowledgable about health, and creating a healthy and non-toxic environment. The place is remote enough that you feel one with nature, but also close enough to the city that you can easily get groceries or anything you desire minutes away. There is an organic restaurant five minutes away as well that is very delicious and will satisfy your craving for good, healthy food. If you get a chance to try Vera’s cooking, you are very lucky and will love her food! She is an amazing chef and a wonderful person that you can learn a lot from if you are interested in natural health, permaculture, foraging, etc. - Dee Sharma Very nice place! Full of nature: beautiful landscapes as forest, river, field, pond… Many wild animals we saw a deer, a porcupine, and baby birds just in one hours walk. We swim in the pond and that was really nice! Thank you very much for this experience at the Utopia Farm. - Oliver Utopia is a very nice and people are friendly. I like the way they live - healthy and they don’t worry about things. They are so many wild animals and beautiful forests too. We saw many in the night. I dreamt about them too. I learnt some knowledge about plants from them too. It is a very nice experience. Thank you! - Langeker Getting AroundClosest to: Thornton is only 5 min drive for shopping and a great Vegetarian gluten free restaurant, hotel and Vidia's yoga studio; hair dresser; dentist; drug store; liquor store; variety store; ice cream parlour; restaurants... Attractions only minutes away: the bear creek sanctuary; elmvale zoo, farmers market, farms, ski resorts, shopping malls, restaurants, Lake Simcoe, Georgian Bay, Barrie, hospitals... Other Things to NoteGreat place to recharge. Get back to the real nature world away from the fast pace of the city. Or have a quite place to heal, write or spend time just nurturing yourself to the sights and sounds of nature around you. Note: Eco-friendly place, no chemicals and the best healthy water to drink. Healthy meals available with extra cost (most harvested from land either planted or wild foods). Arrange a soothing massage in our gazebo by the river. Join a yoga class. Just enjoy the peace. This spacious log house is rare to find in Ontario. It has the feel of a resort, yet it can be enjoyed by your family alone. The swimming is ideal as there is a sandy bottom with a very, very gradual entry into the water. There are walking trails and it is very quiet with the sound of birds and leaves gently blowing in the breeze. As the property is large there are different seating areas so everyone can find what suits them best, from lounging in the sun to eating by the water to barbecuing on the deck. The sunsets close perfect summer days. Cottage life is wonderful in Canada, but not everyone wants to rough it. All the furniture has been carefully selected to be just right for the rooms and the linens are beautiful quality, like you would expect in your own home. Gardeners care for the lawn and gardens so the outdoors is always well maintained. This professionally designed grey log house reflects ideal cottage living in Canada. Each bedroom is architecturally put together and all the furnishings and art have been carefully selected. The linens and china are all designer. There are 4 bedrooms plus a large loft with a pull out double sofa bed, which serves as a 5th sleeping area for extra overnight guests. This is a wonderful all season home, with autumn colours, trails in the deep forest, ice fishing steps away and skiing nearby. Near Toronto, yet in the middle of the country with walking trails to one side and the lake to the other. Perfect for skiing, hiking or lake activities in the summer.

You can even enjoy drop-in yoga sessions right on the beach directly across the street from the cabin every Sunday morning @ 9am through to early November! Being so close to the lake and park means opportunities to enjoy nature and your surroundings year-round. While summer brings crowds of sun-worshipping families, October brings a quiet time for meditation and walks along a gorgeous lake, surrounded by fall colours. Winter brings another influx of adventurers who love to spend weekends ice fishing, skiing or snowmobiling, while the spring brings cyclists, walkers and joggers ready to stretch their limbs after a long winter. The best part about this place is that it is conveniently nestled in an incredible region known as Simcoe County. Simcoe County is a wonderful place to explore year-round. In summer there are the exquisite lakes, of course, and you can find beaches in Innisfil Beach Park, along Barrie's waterfront, or you can venture further to explore Balm or Wasaga Beaches, for example. The county is dotted with great fishing spots and you can rent a fishing boat or pontoon within ten minutes of the cabin. Simcoe county is also a great agricultural hub, with a vast array of farmer's markets and every kind of farm from honey producers to organic apple orchards. Golfers have their pick of pristine courses throughout the area, including Innisbrook Golf Course, Big Bay Point and Innisfil Creek Golf Club. If you enjoy fast cars you can check out the Sunset Speedway, you can dune buggy or mini golf at Shanty Bay or go hot air ballooning with the Barrie Flying Club! Even as fall approaches, you can rent a bicycle or other all terrain vehicle to enjoy the sights -- on your own or as part of a guided tour. You can ride an antique steam train in Tottenham, go for a scenic horseback ride or have fun with the whole family at Chappell Farms' annual fall festival. You can explore the Scenic Caves at Blue Mountain or go Treetop Trekking in Snow Valley. In winter there are plenty of places to ski, snowboard or snow-tube, including: Snow Valley; Horseshoe Valley; Mount St. Louis Moonstone or Blue Mountain. You can go dog sledding at Wind Drift Kennel or snowmobiling along our numerous groomed trails all across the region. Ice fishing is an increasingly popular sport, and you'll have prime access to the frozen lake just steps from the cabin. This is just a taste of what our area has to offer. Come on out and see for yourself! Getting AroundThere is no public transportation within walking distance from the cabin, although the GO bus runs to Innisfil Beach Rd at Yonge Street and there are a number of cab companies in the area as well. Other Things to NotePlease note: this cabin only accommodates four people. We DO NOT allow any additional guests. Thank you!
