Beautiful airy, spacious and gorgeous newer home in beautiful quiet west end of Peterborough. This room is on the main floor with beautifully appointed wood furniture, very comfortable bed. Your 3-piece bathroom is downstairs (private unless we have guests staying in our other room).

If you have your breakfast outside, you will see a large variety of birds, like Cardinals, Robins, Blue Jays, Yellow Finches, Chicadees, etc. We have lots of squirrels, chipmunks and rabbits who will chase each other just for your amusement!
You have use of a spacious full 3-piece bathroom. If we have other guests staying with us, you will be sharing that bathroom with them, otherwise, it will be just you and the cats (their litter box is in there and I make sure to keep it meticulously clean, as with the rest of the house). We are very respectful of your space and privacy and let you decide if you would like to interact with us or not. We ask that you also be respectful of our privacy in return. Please do not open closed doors or drawers without our permission. Please do not remove anything from any room without our permission.
If you would like to use our kitchen to warm something up, or cook, or use the BBQ, please be sure to ask us first. We don't have much extra space in our refrigerator, so if you plan on bringing food with you, please bring your own cooler and ice which you can leave in our kitchen.
If you are renting bikes, you are welcome to lock them in our shed. We will loan you a key to the shed which you must return when you leave.
We like to keep a clean house so we ask guests to clean up after themselves by bringing in your dishes and especially cleaning up any hair after a shower.
** Please do not help yourself to our personal items in our garage, house drawers or any closets.**
If we are watching TV or a movie, please feel to join us. We might even make some home made popcorn!! If you would like to watch TV when we are not, please ask and we will show you how to work the remote. You are welcome to watch TV in the kitchen as well except during quiet hours.
We have beautiful quiet reading spots inside and out.
Washer & dryer are available for a fee if you are staying less than 7 days. You are welcome to use our outdoor laundry line to air/sun dry towels & bathing suits.
If you would like your laundry washed during your stay, a donation of $10 per load would help cover the cost of detergent, water, electricity for the washer/dryer for those staying LESS then 7 nights. For anyone staying over 7 nights, please give us your laundry to do. If you have more than one load per week, we will ask you to pay $10 per load. Interaction with GuestsWe have two very gentle, loving and friendly mature cats we rescued from the local shelter who will definitely want to interact with you. PLEASE NOTE: it is VITAL that you like cats. If this is not you, please choose another home. They are indoor cats so please DO NOT ever allow them outside and please be alert to their presence as they may be around your feet and can be kicked or stepped on if you are not attentive. FRIENDLY REMINDER: please do NOT feed our cats any food. No exceptions!
We are unable to accommodate pets of any kind, no exceptions. (Our house is kept extremely clean of any pet smells & hair!)

We enjoy sharing laughter, jokes and friendship out on our deck so please join us if you would like when we are out there. Thank you's go a long way with us as we sincerely would like you to have a comfortable, safe and fun stay with us. The NeighborhoodQuiet neighbourhood, very safe, tons of trees, parks, walking/biking trails nearby. Easy access to lakes, campgrounds, etc. Our home is a 10-minute drive to the Peterborough Regional Health Centre. We are walking distance to the Peterborough Sports and Wellness Centre, Fleming College, as well as grocery stores and restaurants. We are a short drive to beautiful Jackson Park as well as walking/biking Rotary Trail that goes from one end of Peterborough to the other.
We are happy to recommend restaurants, etc. Just ask! We have some recommendations in the Guidebook on this site. There will also be a restaurant recommendations and tourist brochures in your room for you to borrow while you are here. Please be sure to leave them in the room so that future guests may also enjoy them. Getting AroundThere is public transportation a minute from our door. We are in the west end of the city, close to Fleming College (about a 20 minute walk). Trent University is in the north end of the city and about a 45 minute ride via public transit or a 15 to 20 minute drive.
You are also welcome to park your car in our large driveway. Getting around Peterborough by car is super easy as the entire city is only 20 minutes from end to end. There is a Visitor Centre located at 1400 Crawford Drive, Peterborough, Ontario K9J 6X6
Here are some local attractions:
Jackson Park - located at Monaghan & Park Hill Rd. intersections. Excellent trail running through wooded area used frequently by walkers and bikers. A beautiful jewel in the middle of the city. There is even a Japanese covered bridge over the creek!
Beavermead Park - Camping sites, swimming at a supervised beach. Trans Canada Trail runs throughout the park, good for walking, biking, rollerblading, fishing, swimming. Kayak and canoe rentals available.
Del Cary Park - Beautiful park host to the free summer time Musicfest concert series on Wed. and Sat. nights from mid June-August. The park is located next to the Marina on the shores of Little Lake.
Peterborough Marina - Located in the heart of downtown Peterborough on Little Lake on the historic Trent-Severn Waterway. Do not miss the opportunity to go on a boat cruise through the various Lift Locks and observe the operation of the world's highest hydraulic Lift Lock- a fascinating feat of gravity and engineering precision that looks like an enormous bathtub on posts.
Riverdale Zoo - Just north of downtown Peterborough. Entrance is free. Beautiful for a peaceful stroll.
The Canadian Canoe Museum - Has more than 100 canoes and kayaks on display. Free parking.
Lansdowne Mall on Lansdowne and High Street. A variety of stores and a food court.
Schools: Trent University, Sir Sandford Fleming College and Lakefield College School.

A light complimentary breakfast is included in your stay. If you require breakfast by a certain time in the morning, please let us know and we will be happy to accommodate you. If you like cream or milk, please let us know this in advance so we can sure to have them on hand for you.
We both enjoy cooking and fine wines and often prepare delicious gourmet meals, so for an extra fee and a minimum of 24 hours notice, a deluxe breakfast is available for $20 per person. Examples of deluxe breakfast might be pancakes (made with organic eggs, almond milk, spelt and buckwheat flour), veggie or Turkey sausage or locally made bacon; Brie, basil and peppers omelet; Veggie Fritatta.
Lunches and dinner are also available with at least 24 hours notice for an additional $35 per person. If you would like specific ingredients or have a customized request, the price and advance notice required will depend on the preparation time and ingredients involved. We are happy to accommodate you with enough notice. (I am told my chocolate cake is extremely moist!). We are happy to accommodate gluten-free if given at least 48 hours notice.
Please also feel free to bring along your favorite wine or beer to enjoy with your meals.

Regarding Electricity and Water Usage:
Water and electricity costs are getting quite expensive in Ontario and so we ask our guests to keep this in mind when taking showers or using lights, electric heater, etc.
