We have a convenience store, library, post office, and seasonal market and restaurant within walking distance. Most outings require a car or bicycle. The County is famous for its wineries, fine dining, festivals, and art galleries. The main town of Picton offers plenty of shopping, from groceries to boutiques, as well as a small theatre, beer store, and liquor store. You are also welcome to whatever fruits and vegetables are in season in our large garden – just ask! The Space3 bedrooms, a full bath downstairs, a half bath upstairs; on the main floor is a large kitchen, living room, piano, library, and dining table. There's a big yard with rolling hills, a stream lazily flowing nearby, a few hammocks, and access to food from our seasonal gardens (herbs, greens, tomatoes, raspberries!). You're welcome to tour our developing barn/studio, and say hello to our cuddly cats Orson and Hibou too - they stay in the barn. There's no TV, but everything else: WIFI, lots of books, board games, full kitchen. The house is older (1880's), and thus it has character, in a good way (we think). A cleaner comes through before each guest to ensure the space is in great shape. We bought the property in 2012 and have been fixin'er'up - slowly but surely. You'll see some fruits of our labours to date, notably some reclaimed hardwood floors and ceilings. Over 50% of each year's Air BnB rental income goes toward renovations, and guests often return to see the updates. Guest AccessYou have access to the entire yard, BBQ, fire pit, and the entire house. If you'd like to hang out in the barn (some people have done so to paint or play music), just ask. Interaction with GuestsMyself and/or my partner Tess will likely be on site while you're visiting, as we have a small private suite off the back of the house (separate entrances for you and us). We're a young filmmaking couple who appreciate guests seeking a quiet, inspiring natural getaway, not a huge group party (though we will take requests!). Families are welcome. Sometimes we're busy or travelling with work, but we're always happy to direct you to great spots to eat, drink, and have fun in the county. The NeighborhoodLocated in a little hamlet, the home is tucked away enough to give you some quiet in the county, with the charm of dark skies and frogs singing (May-August) in a large pond out back. P.E.C. AND CHERRY VALLEY SIGHTS Cherry Valley is central to any PEC vacation - there's really no better location. In 20-30mins by bike, or 5-10mins by car, you can get to: -Outlet Beach, the best beach in Sandbanks park (free pass! see below for more info) -Picton (biggest town in area), with restos and grocery stores -Black River cheese company, Vickie's Veggies, and lots of roadside fresh veggies and fruits -Barley Days Brewery, Waupoos Cider, and a variety of wineries/cidery -secluded swimming holes just south (Point Petre) or east (Milford + South Bay), as well as the incredible Dunes Beach. Up the street is a park (with a boat dock into East Lake, a fishable 4km lake), a church from 1862, plus its cool cemetery, and a corner store. A comfortable 15min county car ride or 30-40min bike jaunt gets you to: -Bloomfield or Wellington, for great restaurants -wine-tastings galore! We can give you a list of some of the finer establishments to taste while in the county. Getting AroundBelleville or Trenton are the nearest bigger cities, and they are both approximately 30mins away by car. VIA trains and buses stop in both cities, and there is a transit bus (Deseronto Transit, $10) that could bring you to Picton, which is about a 5-10min cab ride ($12-$15) to our place, one-way. BIKES! We may have a bike or two for you to borrow and we know where you can rent ones nearby, if needed, too. FISHING East Lake is just across the road from us (our stream empties into it), and fishing is possible there. Other Things to NoteSANDBANKS You can use our Ontario Provincial Park pass, which is good for one car's parking at any provincial park ($18 value). The closest are: Sandbanks (5mins), North Beach (30mins, just past Welllington), and Presqu'ile Provincial Park (45mins). BEACH Re: Outlet Beach (part of Sandbanks Provincial Park), on a few tourist sites you'll see true reviews like this: The Outlet Beach is a long sandy beach in a large bay where the water gets deep only very gradually. This makes it the most popular swimming and family play beach. The shallow water warms quickly and is sandy underfoot. If the towering trees that grow adjacent to the beach were palm trees, you could easily believe you were in the Caribbean. Richardson's is a bit more secluded and just as cool, and Dunes is fairly mind-blowing. It's that cool! BOARD GAMES and BOOKS and a PIANO We have lots of board games and books to take up your time inside, if the weather is bad. We also have a piano! And we have one rule: if you know how to play piano, you can play the piano. We LOVE music, but kids banging on the keys at 7am is not the music we love. Just sayin'.

The SpaceRelax, explore and taste the season. The Fiddlehead Farm experience includes all four seasons. Relax at the cozy farmhouse and still explore the food, wine and scenery of Prince Edward County. Visit the East Wing of Fiddlehead Farm and enjoy life on an organic farm. Nestled at the heart of the farm, the greenhouse is on your doorstep where everything starts. The fields fill up quickly in spring, and from April till December you'll find the veggies busy growing in the fields. Help yourself to the bounty at our self-serve store when open, or just ask us for veggies. Our flock of laying hens roams free for your delight, and if there eggs to share we will! Relaxed and quiet on the farm, you are still close to all the charms of Prince Edward County, including Sandbanks Park (a free part pass is included with your stay in season) , wineries, galleries and appetizing restaurants. And our favourite winery just down the road - Three Dog Winery. Our home was built in the 1840s on a quiet hill overlooking farmland and Fish Lake in the North East end of Prince Edward County. It is a classic manor home with a west and east wing. We live in the west wing and separate off the East Wing to travelers looking for a quiet way to enjoy the edible and natural wonders of the County. The East Wing is yours for your stay, including a Sandbanks Park Pass (open May to October). You have a private entrance and unit all to yourself. You can enjoy a full working kitchen, gas fireplace, 3 piece bathroom, living room (with flat-screen and blu-ray), dining room, and your choice of a two or three bedroom arrangement. We also have WIFI for those who like to stay connected. We live and work on the farm. Our main income is the eight acre market garden that produces vegetables which we sell at markets in Toronto and Belleville, as well as our Community Supported Agriculture veggie baskets. The pastoral pleasures of a mixed organic farm await you. Just contact us about staying. The farm is 10 minutes from Picton, one of the County's main towns; between 20 and 30 minutes to wineries; about 35 minutes to Sandbanks Provincial Park. It is a Fifteen minute drive from the 401 highway. Prince Edward County is a vibrant community of artisanal food, wine, and crafts persons. Come and enjoy what this gem has to offer. Guest AccessYour private suite is all yours to enjoy. You have a patio table and chairs (in season) all to yourself with a nice patch of lawn to watch the clouds go by, or for kids to play. A shared barbecue is located just outside your kitchen, we don't use it much. We encourage guests to explore the garden from the grassy pathways around it. Kids must be supervised at all times when outside as we are a working farm, and there are poisonous plants to watch out for in the hedgerows. Our working dog Fergus is very friendly and will accompany you as you explore the farm - but we ask that kids not play around him. Interaction with GuestsAs a working farm, you'll see us and our workers coming and going from the fields and you're welcome to come by and see what we're working on. Our interaction is only as you like, and not intrusive. The NeighborhoodWe live in Prince Edward County, a lovely, rural retreat popular with foodies, wine drinkers and those who like to explore countryside and villages at their own pace. In season, the most popular spot is Sandbanks Provincial Park, with its iconic sand dunes and beaches. We provide a free pass for entry. Sophiasburgh is a quieter corner of the county, and we'll be happy to point you in the direction of the strawberry farm, a beef farm, the "gut" hut of Pyramid Ferments, and of course 3 Dog Winery down the road. Getting AroundOut in the country, a car is key for getting around. There's nice cycling on the quiet roads around the farm, or for the avid cyclist you can get to Picton or the wineries - but be sure to check the map for distances first though! Other Things to NoteYou can feast from the farm any time of the year, we have veggies available May through April! The most diversity of crops can be enjoyed September through November, and the fall is a great time to visit when tourism is a bit quieter.
