Sandyview Cottage is located on a real sandy beach and has a beautiful panoramic view of Lake Erie. Enjoy calm days where the lake looks like glass to the windier days where the waves come crashing to the shore. This newly renovated cozy beach house and its endless lake views are waiting for you. See my website for more info. Google Sandyview Cottage Ontario Canada I am an avid Kayaker and part of the reason I bought Sandyview Cottage was for the real sandy beach and gradual entry into the lake which are perfect for kayaking, swimming and playing. Feel free to use my two new sit-on-top kayaks. Paddles and a variety of sizes of life jackets are included. The kayaks are big enough for an adult, but with their low design your kids will love to paddle them too. Please pack your bathing suits and a sense of adventure! Listen to the waves and watch the sun rise over Lake Erie with your morning coffee, and finish an amazing day with a campfire and smores on the beach. Wood and toasting forks provided. Your master chef will share in the view and love to barbecue right on the deck. There is a full patio set with plenty of extra chairs and a second folding table. Set up your feast outside and enjoy the fresh air. You and your kids can peruse my supply of outdoor toys and water toys. This is a kid friendly beach and on a weekend in the summer there is plenty of joyous laughter and excited shouts as the local kids swim and play in the waves. Parking for 3 vehicles, if two are cars. The deck and part of the back yard are fenced in with three foot high plastic panels, designed to keep your little explorers from travelling down to the lake on their own but low enough so it does not block your view. A panoramic view of Lake Erie is visible from the two large south-facing windows in the living room. Most days and nights there is a nice breeze so leave the patio door open and let the sound of the waves put you to sleep. There is no need for air conditioning. The steady breezes and refreshing water will keep you cool. You can read peacefully on my deck overlooking the lake. Two majestic mature maple trees bath the deck in shade almost all the time. One half of the deck has a roof so this is your smoking area, perfect to use in any weather. If you prefer the sun, and don’t we all sometimes, there is one set of stairs between the deck and the beach. Sandyview Cottage is right on 70 feet of private beach. There is no road between you and the beach, no 10 min walk or drive to the beach. And let’s face it after a day of sun, exercise and cold beverages won’t it be nice not to have to pack up and drive or walk back? If easy access to outdoor fun is what you want, Sandyview Cottage is the place for you. The beach is private and you will only be sharing it with my friendly neighbours, who are staying at their cottages. Feel free to stroll anytime you want along the beach from end to end looking for interesting stones and enjoying the romance and freedom of your holiday. The sun sets to the West so there is always a good view of the sunset from the beach and cottage deck. I think I have taken 100 pictures of spectacular sunsets. A sunset walk along the beach is a Sandyview Cottage tradition. The living room has three sofas, a armchair and loveseat, with a TV, VCR, DVD player, stereo, iPod docking station and unlimited WIFI usage (May to November). Over 200 DVD's and VHS tapes, at least 30 suitable for kids. The living room has a comfortable queen-sized sofa-bed located by the doors to the deck. There is also an overhead ceiling fan and extra upright fans. There are two large windows which providing spectacular views of the lake. Also aluminum foil, Ziplocs, condiments, paper towels, dish soap & towels. Treated, city water is supplied via holding tank, but I prefer bottled water for drinking & cooking. Enjoy seating for six at the dining room table with an awesome view of the lake. Both bedrooms have comforters, linens and ample pillows provided. Bedroom 1 (Master bedroom) A queen sized bed, with a mattress new in 2014, and a dresser for your use. The bedroom has an extra large ceiling fan for extra cooling. Bedroom 2 Bunk beds. Launch your boat, then dive it over to my cottage, and tie it up to the float in front of the cottage. There is a rock shelf beyond the swimming area where boats of folks are fishing in the summer. There is also great fishing 10 minutes away at Port Maitland, where the Grand River empties into Lake Eris. In the summer many people fish from the pier. There is parking at the pier and a bait and tackle shop right in Port Maitland. The SpacePlease note that the bunkie is not winterized. It does have a wood stove but is about too cool with the wind for winter, therefore it's closed Nov - mid March but please don't forget about us! When we purchased our winterized cottage, it came with a small "bunkie" type space at the front of the lot. It was being used by the previous owner as a garage / tool storage & work station. We put our blood, sweat & tears into converting it ourselves into what we think is the dreamiest and coziest Nook ever. We call this "off the grid" glamping because it's a dry cabin with no water. The only heat source is a wood stove, & we are working on converting it all to solar energy (right now there is hydro). The kitchen is more like what you'd see in an outdoor camping kitchen, but with the added benefits of a fridge & quaint breakfast nook with a perfect view of the lake. Guest AccessYou will have full access to the bunkie, it's got a private lock so you can come & go as you please. We have wifi, although depending on the wind it can be pretty choppy. There's a canoe & a kayak, along with life jackets that you're free to use (we just ask that you please return them to the upper shore so they don't drift away in the ever changing Lake Erie waters). We also have 2 mountain bikes you can use. There's a medium sized enclosed dog run if you have pets that you would like to bring with you & you feel like taking off for a while. Kitchen comes equipped with a small fridge, propane camp stove and oven, paper towel, salt and pepper, tea / coffee and a Tassimo coffee maker, knives, cutlery, pot, pan, cups, plates, & mugs. There is also a kettle if you would like hot water to wash up with. If you need something else; just ask! There's no running water but there's a pump water jug that you can get plenty of water from. "Bathroom" consists of an enclosed space with a full size toilet. Please be aware that there is no sink, or running water (hence why we call it "Glamping"), but the bunkie features a full size Enviro Toilet packaging toilet which vacuum seals & disposes the waste each use. More sanitary than a regular toilet & commonly used in Tiny Homes & Treehouses. There are 2 hammocks on the property, one near the bunkie & one by the Lake, sway away! There are also 3 fire pits, depending on weather you may choose to have a fire on the shoreline, & if not there's a fairly large one near the bunkie, firewood included (one bag) with option to purchase more $5 a bag. Interaction with GuestsWe live year round in the winterized cottage in front of the bunkie & someone will always be around to answer your questions whether in person or via phone or text. We'll be sure to greet you upon your arrival & help you get settled if there's anything you need. The NeighborhoodWhat isn't there to love about a quiet lakeside neighborhood full of nature lovers & laid back lifestyle? From the front side of the property you see agricultural fields. From the back side you've got full view of the lake. We get incredible sunsets & an orchestra of singing crickets at night time. The sky is flooded with stars and sunrise can be watched rise from the back deck. Peacock Point is a few minutes away by car & features lots of adorable cottage properties. If visiting in the summer they also sell ice cream and candy in their local shop. We've got quite a few Conservation Areas around such as Haldimand County and Selkirk, and a short drive away & you can visit Port Dover, Simcoe, or Long Point. Getting AroundLet's be frank, you'll be residing in the middle of farm fields and lake side cottages, there's no public transportation (but we're going to go ahead & assume that's why you picked this location). The nearest town is Selkirk where they have a couple small restaurants, convenience store, & a few quaint stores. Simcoe & Port Dover are within 30 minutes & have some great shopping, restaurants & sightseeing. You'll definitely need a car to get around. ***WE HAVE MOUNTAIN BIKES FOR RENT FOR $10 each per day*** we also have a bike rack you can borrow if you want to take the bikes someplace. Other Things to NoteWe are a safe space for anyone & everyone. We are gay positive. We are sober & while it is totally acceptable & appreciated that you may drink - we ask that you monitor your behavior when intoxicated. This is an ideal place for couples to have a peaceful relaxing & romantic getaway. *** please tag your visit on instagram #glampingnook ***
