The SpaceLovely house at lakefront, about 1h20 minutes from Montreal (door to door). A paradisiacal place with great karma to relax and enjoy some off-time.
It is easily reachable, not far from the highway, and has a spacious parking lot.
The house has three stories: i) A 'rez-de-jardin' (garden floor) with a living room, a master bedroom, and a bathroom (with bathtub). ii) A first floor, with a living room, big fully equipped kitchen and dining area, bathroom (with bathtub), and an extra room with a comfortable pull out bed. Washer and drier are available for use if renting for a minimum of five nights. iii) An attic area with two cozy bedrooms (one of them the children's room with a double futon on a box spring). There are two TVs, a DVD player and a quite large DVD selection (but no cable or satellite!). A radio/CD player and an eclectic selection of CDs are also provided. Both living rooms have breathtaking views over the lake. There are two pianos, one in each living room. The first-floor living room has a cozy wood stove and a beautiful Persian carpet.
The house is only about five metres from the water front. In summer the lake is beautiful for swimming or boating. There is a kayak, a rowing boat, and a peddle boat (pédalo). There is also a little cabana with an extra futon for afternoon siestas in the summer and autumn months. In January and February one can snow shoe across the lake.
The lake is very clean and wonderful for swimming. The lake ground is muddy, but with no or very little vegetation in the water. Guest AccessGuest have access to the entire property, the house, the garden, the cabana, and the lake. Please note, however, when only two people are renting, we keep the attic bedroom and the upper bathroom closed to access. Interaction with GuestsWe try to be present to receive guests and show them around. During the stay we are not on the property, but we are available for questions by phone or email. We communicate in English, French, German, or (functional) Italian. The NeighborhoodWe love the quiet of the neighbourhood. The region around Entrelacs is quiet and laid back, with many lakes and hiking possibilities. The village of Entrelacs is a few minute drive away (or a 40 minute walk). There you find a supermarket (with SAQ), a tennis court, a public library with internet spot, a little restaurant/café, a church, a gas station with dépanneur, and a skating rink on a lake close to the village.
There are more restaurants in the next village (8 minute drive from the house, on the way up when coming from Montreal), as well as a big Provigo supermarket. A few nice restaurants and cafés can be found in Esterel, about a 15-20 minute drive away.
Hiking, snowshoe and cross country tracks are in close vicinity. We are located close to the Parc régional de la Forêt Ouareau, a regional park that is wonderful for hiking. Ski hills for downhill skiing and snow boarding in readily accessible vicinity (Ski Montcalm is a bit over 15 minute drive away, and St. Donat is a 30 minute drive from the house). Dogsledding and ski doo are also available in the vicinity. There is a lovely spa in Rawdon, about 25 minutes drive away.
The neighbouring houses to the left and right are close, but our neighbours are very nice and generally very quiet. However, when they have guests and sit outside, you will hear them. There are no properties directly across the lake.
Another thing to mention: there is an asphalted street right behind the garden. The speed limit is 50 km/h. Traffic on it is variable, ranging from roughly two vehicles per minute to more frequent traffic during certain times. Getting AroundEasy access, only a couple of minutes from the highway 125 (a very quiet highway). There is also a bus service from Montreal during weekends (and Monday morning) accessible in walking distance. Search for "horaire circuit 125" on the internet for a time table. Other Things to NoteThe water comes from a surface well and is drinkable and quite delicious.
Please note that we frequently bring our cat with us to the house. Therefore the place is NOT recommended for people with strong cat allergies!
The default daily rate indicated by Airbnb is the high season rate. In mid and low seasons the rate is lower (depending on dates). The weekly price Airbnb indicates is for high season (July-Aug and March break), in mid and low season the weekly price is lower, and over Christmas it is higher. (When you enter your desired dates into the Airbnb reservation inquiry, the system will return whichever particular rate applies for the given time frame.)
The rez-de-jardin (garden level) has a powerful dehumidifier which keeps the space dry (so, no basement humidity). It runs intermittently, mostly just during the summer months, when comes on a few times an hour and each time last for about 3-4 minutes. While it is running, it is somewhat noisy, but you can put the machine on standby during the night, so as not to be disturbed in your sleep.
