The SpaceOur house is perfect for families and entertaining. The kitchen opens into the family room (fireplace), living room and dining room and which is all open concept and the furniture can be moved (with care) around to meet your individual needs. Our hot tub is on the second storey balcony (re-enforced steel designed to hold a hot tub and lots of people) overlooking the Summit Edelweiss Ski Hill and surrounded by the beautiful Gatineau Hills. There is a BBQ on the balcony for ease of cooking and is also away from the bugs. We designed the balcony so it is sheltered from the elements and can be used year round but open enough to provide a fantastic view. There are 2 bedrooms on the 2nd floor with king size beds. There is also a 4 piece bathroom. On the ground floor is a 3rd bedroom room with 2 queen size beds as well as a recreation room / 4th bedroom with a queen size bed and two double futons with a memory foam topper (people often put their children in the rec room). The rec-room also has its own TV for kids to be away from the adults. The 3rd bedroom is on the ground floor, just off the second 3 piece bathroom off of which is a full laundry room with a steam washer and drier on the. Outside we have a swing set and some slides for young children to play on. Lots and lots of places for children to run and play and if you are adventurous you can take a hike down to the creek and catch frogs or go fishing for Rainbow and Speckled Trout (with the appropriate licensing of course). If you are really, really adventurous you can take a hike up the opposite mountain which is beside a waterfall and overlook the whole valley of Edelweiss or hike up the ski hills. It is absolutely beautiful up there. The fall colours are absolutely incredible here. We often pack a picnic and have it at the top of the mountain and eat overlooking the valley and its natural beauty. Across the highway at the bottom of our road is a small pond that guests have used to skate on and they have loved it and a great place to play in the mud or catch frogs. There is a Morrison’s quarry about 6 minutes away where you can swim and/or bring your dog. Apparently there is s plane at the bottom of the quarry if you like diving or snorkeling or bungee jumping for those of you who are braver. Lac Phillippe is part of Gatineau Park and about 10 minutes away. Edelweiss Golf Course is seconds from our house in addition Mont Cascade Golf, Water Park and Ski Resort is about 12 mins away. You can go horse-back riding too at Captiva Farms which is about 15 minutes away. Guest AccessSecond floor Hot Tub, Satellite TV and wireless internet are all included in your stay. There is a Propane fireplace, BBQ plus washer and drier. There is also a fire pit outside for your use however; you need to bring some wood. There is enough room to park 3 cars in the driveway or 2 if they are big trucks. Interaction with GuestsOur house is equipped with keyless entry so we email or text you the door code the day before your arrival and you and your guests can come and go with great ease. We are sometimes there in the adjoining unit but if we are not there we are easily accessible by e-mail, text or phone. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is very quiet and well off the highway. This is a cul de sac so there is only local traffic on our road. There are a total of 5 well-spaced houses on our street but we ask that you be respectful to our neighbors in terms of noise and parking. We are only 10 minutes from Wakefield where there is a grocery store, bakeries, restaurants, shops and boutiques. We are conveniently located 4 minutes from Le Belvedere, 30 second drive to Edelweiss Ski Hills or you can walk 5-10 minutes across the field. The Edelweiss Golf Course is a 30 second drive from our house. We are 15 minutes from Mont Cascade Water Park and Ski Hill. In addition, Vorlage ski hill is located in Wakefield and is 10 minutes from our house. Former Prime Minister and Nobel Peace Prize winner Lester B Pearson’s grave is located in Wakefield and approximately 20 minutes away is the former estate of William Lyon Mac Kenzie King who so valued this area that the chose to be laid to rest here. Across the road from our house is a big open field where kids can play and deer have been known to sleep and past that is the Edelweiss Tubing Hill. We are so close to the Tubing Hill that you can see and hear from the balcony people screaming joyfully as they go down the tubing hill. You can also see wild turkeys and other wildlife near our house and the raccoons will remind you that you left the garbage out (lol) The General Store is the closest grocery store and that is in Wakefield about 10 minutes and a larger IGA supermarket about 15 minutes from the house near Cross-Loop Road. They have almost everything you need. There is also a Rona and Home Hardware in Wakefield too. We are also 10 minutes from Captiva Farms if you want to go horseback riding or rent a sleigh ride. There is also the Great Canadian Bungee Jumping which has Morrison's Quarry right beside it and is about 10, minutes from our house. There is also beautiful Gatineau Park about 15 minutes away and we have an access pass to Lac Phillippe that we are willing to lend out however if it is lost or not returned there will be $75.00 deducted from your damage deposit. Getting AroundThere is no public transit available at Chateau Edelweiss. You could bring your bikes to drive through the mountains or go on the Trans Canada Trail portion in Wakefield or Gatineau Park. The nature in this area is spectacular Other Things to NoteWe are dog friendly for those pet owners that want to bring their pets with them, however, there will be an extra $100.00 cleaning fee added to your reservation due to the significant extra cleaning required to ensure the cleanliness for our future guests. We DO NOT allow Pitbulls, Rotweilers or Pure Breed German Shepherds to ensure the safety of our guests. I understand that not all dogs in these breads are dangerous, but we are not willing to accept the risk associated with these types of dogs. Cats may be considered but you would need to bring your own litter and box and the same cleaning fee would apply. If you bring a dog or cat and fail to inform us we will deduct the cleaning fee plus an additional $50 from your damage deposit in addition to any damage the animal does. We also offer a bed linen and towel service for an additional $100.00 per rental for up to 10. So for a party of 10 guests it would cost $100.00. This would include a bath towel and face cloth per person as well as all the beds made, pillow cases and comforters.

The SpaceThis is a beautiful log home nestled in the edge of the woods, next to wide open fields and the Eardley Escarpment. The scenery is beautiful and the vibe is lovely. You would be staying essentially in an apartment all your own, with a private entrance, huge bedroom, indoor garage space, living room with additional couch, and fridge. We are in beautiful country, only 30 minutes from downtown Ottawa. You get the best of both worlds. Guest Accessfridge, garage, entrance, lots of private space The "east" wing where we live is our private space. Interaction with GuestsWe will interact a fair bit with the guests. We're new to this, but willing to consider a continental breakfast and laundry for an extra cost. The NeighborhoodOur neighbourhood is truly beautiful. We live 30 minutes from downtown, but it feels like the English countryside. The country walks are splendid. Horses regularly trot along in front of our house. The escarpment creates a wall of colour in fall, and a micro-climate year-round. There are wineries and maple syrup farms nearby. Deer come by to try to steal veggies from our garden. Who could ask for anything more? Getting AroundYou'll need a car to get around where we are. We have indoor or outdoor parking for you, though. There are many routes to our house - I would suggest using (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN)Maps. Other Things to NoteWe are willing to accept anywhere from 2 to 4 people, and will provide an additional mattress if needed. Kids and animals are most welcome. You may hear our children from time to time ... but from a distance! :)

The SpaceThis is our dream home and our family home. My husband and I designed the house and my husband and his brother built it. It has been and is still a labour of love. If you have ever built a house yourself you will know that it is never truly finished. Our home has all the amenities and more that you will need to enjoy your stay. You will notice though that we are still working on some aesthetic finishes, none of which will affect the enjoyment of your stay. My husband is currently in the process of closing in what used to be an open concept den. As such, the fourth bedroom is still in need of some drywall finishing. You enter the house by the front door which is adorned with a lovely porch. The entrance features a large mudroom which leads to a very spacious sun filled open concept kitchen, living room and dining room with soaring 23 foot ceilings. At the back of the house you will find 3 bedrooms; first with a double bed, second with a single over double bunk bed, third with a double bed. There is also a double futon in an alcove off of the hallway in front of the 3 bedrooms. The main floor also includes a 3 piece bathroom, laundry room and walk-in pantry. There is a swing in the kitchen for the kids and adults alike! Also, a hammock chair to curl up and read in. We also have 4 plasma cars and a bin full of roller blades and roller shoes which are loads of fun on our concrete floors. There are also lots of board games. On the second floor you will find an open concept 800 square foot loft, with a king size bed, sitting room, office and 5 piece bathroom, including a luxurious jacuzzi tub with a huge shower with a rainfall shower head and side jets. There is a side porch for outdoor dining and a ceramic grill/smoker for outdoor cooking. You will also find games such as bocce ball and croquet on the side porch. The house is ICF (insulated concrete forms) construction. The heating is radiant heat in the concrete floors and passive solar heating. You will find that the house is toasty warm in the winter and cool in the summer. We do not have central air conditioning but the design of the home naturally keeps the house cool in the summer. In fact, we have had many people comment on how much they enjoy our central air, only to be surprised that we don't have central air conditioning! You may want to bring indoor shoes to be more comfortable on our concrete floors. Guest AccessGuests will have access to the entire home. The garage is private space and off limits. Please note that we have a permanent tenant living in the apartment over our garage. The entrance to the apartment is through the garage at the side of the house and is completely separate from the main house. The laneway is shared with our tenant. Three cars can park at the back of the laneway without blocking each other in. One of those 3 cars will be our tenants car. When there is no snow there is also room for 2 cars to park off to the side of the laneway without blocking anyone in. During the winter months, you should still be able to fit one car to the side of the laneway. For guests visiting in the winter, please note that our laneway is ploughed by a snowplough truck. If there is a significant snowfall while you are visiting, we ask that you make the effort to park the cars facing the garage door. That way the plough can clear the laneway all the way to end of the laneway. If you simply pull in to the end of the laneway, it will be difficult for the plough to clear the snow. There is room for 3 cars to park facing the garage door. Again, one of these cars will be our permanent tenant's car. There is a fridge (not completely empty but help yourself to condiments), stove, dishwasher and washing machine. WiFi is included. In the winter, we have a small skating pond that we share with our neighbours. It is directly across the street from our laneway. Please feel free to skate. Interaction with GuestsWe will greet you upon your arrival and then leave you to your vacation. We can always be reached through the airbnb app or by cell phone. The NeighborhoodWakefield is country living at its best. Whether you want a secluded walk in the forest, a dip in the river, shopping or night life, Wakefield has it all! Situated on a 2 acre lot on a quiet dead end street surrounded by trees and walking trails. A five minute walk will bring you to the Gatineau River (where you can launch a canoe or go for a swim at our shared dock) and the picturesque village of Wakefield, where you will find coffee houses, pubs, bakeries, General Store, gift shops and the world renowned "Black Sheep Inn" which showcases exceptional musical talents. Also within walking distance to Gatineau Park. Back Country Skiing, Snowshoeing and hiking right out the door, Downhill skiing, Snowboarding and Cross Country Skiing less than a 5 minute drive away, Snow Tubing at Edelweiss ski hill, Tobogganing, Golf, Horseback riding, Canoeing, Aerial Park, Mountain Biking, Fishing, Swimming, Water Park, Restaurants, Antique shopping, Night Life, Parks; all just minutes away; plus all the attractions of Canada's Capital City, Ottawa - only a 20 minute drive away Getting AroundThere is a bus to Ottawa a few times per day. But, you can walk to everything in Wakefield! Other Things to NoteLewis Road is a dead end street with 12 houses. Our street is an unpaved country road with a steep hill and lots of bumps and potholes. There are also many children who play on our street. For both of these reasons, please drive very slowly. In the winter, please be careful while driving on the steep hill of our street. Although, we have never had an issue with driving up our hill, in severe winter weather conditions, it is possible that without all wheel drive or 4 wheel drive, you may have difficulty getting up the hill. In this case you could park off to the side at the bottom of the hill. There are several dogs living on our street. The dogs are all friendly. You will encounter a few of them on our property and on the road during your stay.

The SpaceThe main room is spacious and bright, and in the summer the deck is a popular spot for relaxing. It has a full bathroom downstairs, and a kitchen equipped with stove, toaster oven, toaster, fridge. Anything you are missing you can ask for! It has closet space and comfy beds - a queen sofa bed, and a single in it's own cozy space. Guest AccessGuests are welcome to walk or ski in most of the fields, and we'll make it clear where you can go. There's a good swimming hole nearby, and in the winter there is wonderful x-country skiing locally and in the Gatineau park. The steep driveway is shared and usually sanded. Interaction with GuestsThere will always be someone in my house, but the studio space is completely separate in another building. The NeighborhoodThis area provides the choice of solitude or action. The studio is a wonderful retreat space, yet it's proximity to Wakefield means you can enjoy the busy life the riverside village offers: Theatre, the Wakefield Film Festival, the famous Black Sheep, the summer Saturday markets, etc. Oh - and super restaurants from comfy/casual to formal and coffee shops aplenty. Getting AroundThere is no public transport to the area, so you will need a car. Our friendly local corner store is 2Km away. (The house deck is just for the tenants. The large covered barn deck is just for you.) Interaction with GuestsI want to help my guests create custom retreat experiences. If you are interested in having home-cooked meals provided, or other services I offer (coaching, guided hikes and more), that can be arranged. The NeighborhoodThis lovely property is on the edge of a small cluster of houses on a quiet rural road. There is a feel of being alone in a country setting but with the comfort of neighbours nearby should you need a hand with something. Here you can feel a cooling breeze off the hill, breathe in the intoxicating scent of fresh cut hay or listen to the rattle of a rain storm on the tin roof above you. From the deck you can feel your body relax as you take in birds and other wildlife as well as the meandering stream. Sway gently in the hammock on the deck, sheltered from the sun or rain. In the evening, walk to the nearby lake and take in the stars or the sight of fireflies dancing in the meadow... Rupert also boasts a volunteer-run community centre and second-hand store with in walking distance. Who knows what treasures you might find there on a Saturday afternoon, besides conversations with local folks. Just a 10-minute drive away is the village of Wakefield... home to many artists and musicians as well as other community-minded folks. There's almost always something special happening in Wakefield. Alternately, the well known Gatineau Park with hiking, biking and ski trails is also a 10-minute drive south. Getting AroundSince mid-June 2015 we have access to public transportation - at least to the Wakefield and Masham areas! Check out (URL HIDDEN) for more information. Other ways of getting you here can sometimes be arranged. Just ask. Other Things to NoteMy friendly but independent cat Rafiki lives here. He spends most of his time outdoors except in the winter.

The SpaceThis is a great family home (however, due to the spiral staircase it is not recommended for families with small children). 6 people can sleep comfortably, but there is plenty of room for additional guests to sleep on mattresses. Guests can use the main and top floors. There is also a futon and bathroom in the basement for your use. If I am travelling when you are renting my home, I will leave a list of contact people for you to rely on. If you love spending time outdoors practicing your favourite sport or relaxing by the river; have a taste for good local cuisine; and enjoy live music; you will have a great time in Wakefield! Unfortunetely there is no public transportation, but you can walk anywhere in the village from this rental. This is a well loved, well used, family home. When it is not being rented I live here with my two children. T.V. is a Smart t.v. but we don't have cable. You can watch Netflix, YouTube, or DVDs We don't serve breakfast but are happy to recommended many local restaurants and bakeries for your morning meal. Guest AccessGuests have access to the main floor and the loft bedroom (second floor); an additional futton can be found in the basement along with a powder room. There is an empty apartment in the basement that is off limits. Interaction with GuestsI like to make myself available to my guests. However, if I am travelling while you are staying in my home, I will provide you with contact people to help you during your stay. The SpaceThis is a beautiful home - must see to believe. More space than you could need, including two "wings", west and east, 3600 sq ft total, and 1 1/2 acre yard with forest, pavement, and flowers. If you are relaxed about sleeping arrangements in terms of privacy, this house could fit as many as 12 to 14. Careful, though, it is VERY open concept. Two of the three bathrooms have doors, but the one on the east wing 2nd floor only has a curtain because the whole second floor is loft-style. One bedroom has a closing door, the second is private but only by way of walk-up stairs to the third floor on the east side. The other sleeping spaces are in the open concept loft area of the second floor of the east wing, or the living room of the west side. The old (1994) part of the house is big, round logs. The new part (2004) is square logs. The house is truly gorgeous and compares a lot to Montebello - it even has the same windows. Unfortunately, the house is beautiful but hard to describe. If you are hoping for private space for, say, 4 couples and intimacy at night, then 2 or 3 of the couples will be disappointed. There is only one bedroom that is completely private, the other is private but no door to block the stairs up, and the rest open concept. If, however, you are a large family or OK with the above, you will love it here. Guest AccessWe will be away for the time frame this house is available, so the whole thing is yours, including the appliances. Interaction with GuestsWe will be away, but either our father-in-law or we will be reachable if needed. The NeighborhoodWe live in Luskville, which means you're out in the country, but still only 30 to 35 minutes to downtown Ottawa. We're nestled at the foot of the Eardley escarpment, with a view of the mountain and trees. It will be beautiful in summer, great for hikes down the country road and into the mountains, if adventurous. There are horse farms all around, and a local winery nearby on the 148. Getting AroundNo public transit - you'll need to rent a car and/or use your own. We could rent you one of ours for a cheap price, if need be. Nearest grocery stores are in Aylmer and Hull (12 to 15 minutes), and there is a general store 5 minutes away. I would suggest (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN)maps for instructions from the airport. Other Things to NoteThere will be two cats at the house while you are here. You have to be willing to give them dry food, change their water, and let them in and out. They don't use the litter box in summer, and spend most of their time outside in nature. Our house is very much in nature! You may hear wolves in the distance, and will see birds and other animals. Horses regularly trot by from the horse farm down the road!

The SpaceNew, $200,000 renovation completed in 2015. This cottage has a large deck for entertaining, along with two private balconies for sunbathing. There's a queen sized bed in one bedroom, bunk beds in the other, and a fancy, fold down sofa bed from Structube on the lower floor. There's a 40" TV, and a Playstation for games, movies & music. There's also table football on the lower floor. There are two cottage bikes to explore the land, and a canoe to explore the lake. Life jackets are available, but bring your own if you fall outside the usual size range. Guest AccessGuests will have the run of the cottage and the whole of the lake. My sailboat will be moored alongside the dock, but because of insurance and licensing rules, only the canoe is available for guest use . . . but really, that's the perfect way to explore the lake. Interaction with GuestsI can be at the cottage to show guests around upon arrival. After that I'll be an hour away in Ottawa. The NeighborhoodThis is a newly refurbished cottage, right on the waterfront of Lac Bernard, a beautiful lake approximately 5km long and 1km wide. Getting AroundYou really need a car to stay at this cottage, a 4WD in the winter months. It's a 50 minute, 65km drive from Ottawa, Canada's capital city. At the end of the 5km country road, there is a general store for supplies and alcohol; and an awesome, historic pub called the Brennan's Hill Hotel that serves great food, good beer, and has pool tables, darts, cribbage & backgammon tables. Other Things to NoteSome people like to wear 'water shoes' whilst swimming, but you don't have to. Our water is drawn directly from the lake and goes through UV and sediment filters. It's perfectly fine to drink, but feel free to bring your own bottled water. If you come in winter when there is snow on the ground, you really should have a four wheel drive car.
