The SpaceEnjoy the privacy and comfort of our hand crafted Mongolian yurt. The yurt is set on a south facing deck with lake and mountain views. The yurt can sleep up to five guests and is kept warm and cosy with a simple woodstove. The simplicity of the Yurt allows you to enjoy the beauty of the Yukon landscape at its fullest. Please note that if the yurt is not available for your holiday dates we do have the option of the Cosy Cabin which sleeps 4 guests. Guest AccessAvailable for guest use in the main house is a bathroom with shower and toilet; laundry facilities; yoga room; living room and library; and a cold room for food storage. For longer stays there is an outdoor cooking area and there is a canoe down on the lake you are welcome to take for a paddle. Children can enjoy the outdoor play area, soccer field, playhouse and tree house. We have a huge raspberry patch that guests are welcome to enjoy in the fall. We also offer guided day hikes through the surrounding wilderness. During the winter months, viewing of the northern lights is a major highlight! Interaction with GuestsGuests are welcome to make themselves at home in the main house when they are staying with us. We have two children, so kids are more than welcome here and they will find lots to do to keep themselves amused. We enjoy night time stories around the bonfire, star gazing, northern light displays and evening cups of tea with our guests. The NeighborhoodTraveling Light Bed and Breakfast is a 25 minute drive south of Whitehorse on the Klondike Highway. Surrounded by spectacular forest, lake and mountain views we are the perfect base for a peaceful Yukon adventure. A short walk down the hill will take you straight to Cowley Lake where you can skate, ski and snowshoe in winter or swim and canoe in summer. Our property is very private, but close enough to Whitehorse to be convenient for guests to travel in to have dinner. Traveling Light Bed and Breakfast is perfectly situated in the Southern Lakes region of the Yukon where there is easy access to some of the most spectacular hiking, biking and skiing trails in the region. Getting AroundThere is no public transport available to our place and most guests rent a vehicle to make the most of their time in the Yukon. For guests needing airport transfers I would recommend Teena at Whitehorse Who What Where Tours. Other Things to NoteThe Yukon is evolving into quite the mountain bike mecca, and Traveling Light Bed and Breakfast is conveniently situated halfway between the amazing trails of Whitehorse and the spectacular biking trails of Carcross. The perfect place to base yourself for an amazing mountain biking adventure. If you are coming in the winter months and plan to go on a dog mushing adventure, please take the time to book before you get here to make sure you get a dog team. Guests do not have access to the backyard. Interaction with GuestsI am happy to answer questions guests have, whether that be what to do in Whitehorse, suggestions for hiking, or just getting settled. I can sometimes offer rides so feel free to ask! The NeighborhoodRiverdale is a friendly, family neighbourhood. Right behind the house is a playground and an outdoor ice rink. Miles and miles of beautiful wilderness trails are accessed within a half block of your front door. There is a local grocery store, gas station, and cold beer and wine store four blocks away. Getting AroundA bus stop a half block from the house will take you straight downtown. However the buses don't run all that often and if you are wanting to explore it would probably be best to rent a car or a bike.

The SpaceOur ranch is "off the grid" - so no electricity, no running water, limited cell service and outhouses! This is the true Yukon experience! The defining feature for this cabin is definitely the view, it is in a secluded spot on our ranch away from the main activity area and looks straight over Fish lake. Whether it's frozen in the winter time, beautiful blue in the summer or surrounded by colours in the Fall the view is breathtaking. This cabin has a gorgeous loft bedroom with a queen bed and a single bed and a spectacular view through the huge windows! There is an extra bed in the pull out couch as well, the cabin comfortably sleeps 4 people but can sleep 5 for an extra cost. It has a full kitchen with stove and everything you need to cook a meal. There are also coolers for food as well. It is heated with a woodstove and has propane lights providing a warm, romantic glow in the cabin. Your own private outhouse is just 10m away. Guest AccessIn the winter time we run dogsled tours from our ranch, in the summer time the dogs rest and you can join one of our guided horseback tours. If you would like to know more just let us know when you book! We're located on the shores of Fish Lake which is fished all year round and we have access to a network of hiking trails for your enjoyment. Interaction with GuestsOur ranch manager or one of our employees will greet you when you arrive and show you to your cabin. There is usually one of our employees or owners available at the ranch. The NeighborhoodWe're 25-30 minutes from downtown Whitehorse located on the shores of Fish Lake and in a valley surrounded by beautiful mountains. The SpaceThis is a very convenient downtown location for visitors to Whitehorse, located in a quiet residential neighbourhood only two or three blocks from Main Street. The micro-suite is best suited for one guest, or a couple that wants to be cozy. This unique house was built in 2015 and is the Yukon's first LEED® Platinum certified home. The micro-suite is located in the laneway house at 704B Wood Street, between Wood and Jarvis Streets and 7th and 8th Avenues. Access is from the laneway or alley at the back of 704 Wood Street. Parking is on 7th Avenue with access to the suite from the lane. It is less than a 5 minute walk to Main Street. The closest coffee shop would be The Java Connection at Wood Street and 3rd Avenue (Monday to Friday). They also have breakfast options and delicious panini lunches. We do provide a french press for coffee, milk and sugar if you prefer to make your own. Another popular, 7 day a week coffee shop is The Baked Cafe at Main and Front Street located in the Horwood's Mall. The closest grocery store is The Independent, about a 10 minute walk to 4th Avenue and Ogilvie Street. Bedding, towels, dishes and wireless internet are provided. Guest AccessThe micro-suite is on the main floor of 704B Wood St and there is a one-bedroom apartment upstairs as well. There is a shared front-entry and hallway for both the micro-suite and the apartment above. The bathroom for the micro-suite is also off of this hallway and is solely for your use. The laundry is solely for the upstairs tenant's use. The shared west facing veranda is perfect for afternoon sun and evening happy-hour. Interaction with GuestsOur home is conveniently located across the laneway on Jarvis Street. Green house with glassed in back porch. We are just a phone call away and would be happy to answer any questions. The NeighborhoodWe are nestled at the foot of the clay cliffs with recreational walking trails and parks at the end of the street. This is the original residential neighborhood of Whitehorse and is an eclectic mix of small, charming homes, both old and new. Similarly the neighbours are a cross-section of the community, ranging from young adults, small families to seniors. Wood Street hosts a number of Whitehorse's heritage homes, including the one on the front of the property at 704A Wood Street! Across Wood Street is the Pioneer Cemetery; here are interred some of the ordinary and extraordinary people who helped found the Yukon. On the livelier end of things Main Street, only two-blocks away, is the commercial and social hub of Whitehorse. It hosts a variety of stores & shops, restaurants, a couple of galleries and a number of bars/pubs that frequently have live music. Other Things to NoteThis location is perfect for the environmentally conscious traveler. The micro-suite is located in what might be Whitehorse's most sustainable home. This super-insulated home uses 90% less energy to heat than the average Whitehorse home, making it one of the most energy efficient homes built in the Yukon to date. As an in-fill home it has a very low environmental footprint. The home has been certified by the Canada Green Building Council as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design home (LEED-H), making it the first home to be Platinum certified in the Yukon. The location is walking distance from Main Street, the heart of Whitehorse, so you won't need a car.
