Coastal weather is variable. Sunny some days, clouds others. It rains a maximum of eight times in the winter, which is from May to September. It can be chilly at night-bring your sweater! If you forget, the owner might have something in your size. This is semi-desert.
Clean spring water is brought in with a truck. It is VERY safe to drink! Conservation is appreciated. All water from the kitchen, bathroom and shower feeds the many plants in the garden. The shore at the bottom of this property is rocky with tide pools. Sandy beaches are one kilometer away.
A shop six blocks away has all the basics plus fresh bread delivery at 9 am every morning! There's a small very friendly local restaurant five blocks away. There's many restaurants seven kilometers away in Los Molles.
You can sometimes see people collecting seaweed on the shore or in small boats. If you're lucky you'll see dolphins, sea lions, whales or eagles. This is the country. If insects or dogs make you nervous you will not be comfortable here. Getting AroundArrive by sunset! There are no street lights and it will be difficult to find in the dark. Conveniently located halfway between La Serena and Santiago, you can catch a bus going north or south a mile from the house, for about $10. There's alot of parking available.
The neighborhood used to be called Quinquelles in the La Ligua region of Chile. Now it's Huaqen del Mar. It's located between the small villages of Los Molles/La Ballena and Pichique. Other Things to NoteThe deck has minimal railings. Dangerous for heavy drinkers. No children!
There's great wifi coverage from Entel and Claro, none with Movistar. I can give you a dongle to use on your laptop. You can buy credit at the local shop.
There are people friendly rescue dogs who live in the cabin. You can have as much or as littler interaction with them as you choose. They are not let out at night, but may bark during the day. ASK FIRST about bringing your own animals.
