The Space(Please note that the prices vary and are negotiable depending on the season and the cabin.) After a train trip through Chile's central valley you are picked up at the train station in Linares, Chile and driven 2 hours up into the Andes. The last 45 minutes are on a private hand built road that winds under ancient native deciduous trees and next to a crystalline clear river. There are three different cabins and you can also tent camp upstream in private clearings near the river. In the houses we have modern bathrooms and kitchens with running water, hot showers and good beds with linens and comforters. The houses are hand built with cedar logs and boards. January through April we have an organic vegetable garden with old fruit trees that produce heirloom plums, apples and cherries. We have solar power and spring water. The location is at the confluence of two rivers so the exploring and relaxing is infinite. There are waterfalls to hike to, horses to rent and much local lore. If you desire we can hire a cook and or guide for you hikes. The caretaker is a wonderful man of the mountains who can show you native flora and fauna. Price is according to number of guests and services you require. I have listed it as $100 but that can be more or less. You will be unplugged as there is no internet or phone service. We have radio communication for emergencies. There are no stores, you are completely isolated. The experience takes you back in time; there is constant horse traffic with the mountain people taking herds of animals up to summer pastures in the spring and bringing them back to market in the fall. Summer brings backpackers, fishermen and eco-turists. This is an incomparable experience in a safe and accessible wilderness between two friendly rivers. It's a fabulous location to write a book, read several books from my library. There is a transportation fee of $150.00 from Linares to Las Animas and back to Linares. Guest AccessThere are two different cabins plus my own house. I will occasionally rent out my house. You are welcome to ramble over all the trails and through the pastures. There are specific paths down to the river and we ask you to please use the paths to help us control erosion. Interaction with GuestsSometimes I am there and sometimes not. There is almost always a caretaker there but he is working and if needed for guiding hikes, he will charge approximately $15,000 Chilean pesos. The NeighborhoodThis is a wilderness. The nearest neighbor is a 30 walk. The nearest store is a couple of hours. We are very happy and excited to receive guests and share this spectacular location. Your visit requires a lot of advance preparation on our part. The shuttle up to the cabins is and extra charge. We have no cel phone reception but do have radio communication. Please email me with your potential trip dates and we will do all possible to minimize the costs and make your trip a memorable, life-changing event. The prices I have listed are negotiable according to your needs for food and guiding. I have had people come for up to a month with wonderful feedback. Best regards, Mary Getting Around4WD vehicles, horses, walking. Other Things to NoteThe water is delicious and healthy. It comes out of a mountain spring. We have radio communication.

The SpaceDesigned by an architect, our lodge is simple but spacious and comfortable. Equipped with solar panels (offering light as well as the possibility to charge phones and a computer), it also comes with a barbecue and a small gas installation to prepare coffee and eggs in the morning ;) Each lodge and cottage is equipped with a cute terrace, perfect to enjoy the view of nature. We are a family of four (Sandra is French and Jaime is Chilean) with two adorable franco-chilean children. Nature lovers, we decided after many years in Santiago to move our family to the country and fell in love with this amazing estate of rolling grasslands and limitless vistas. KINDLY NOTE: - Wifi is not available. This is a wonderful place to retreat! Most phone companies work though :) - The bathroom and sink are located 20 meters from the lodge (there is no water installation inside the lodge) - We proudly produce all electricity from our solar installation. Therefore, items such as hair-dryer are not suitable as they require to much power compared to what the system provides. Yet, it is fine for computers, phones... You can also access the office all day and night long to charge your devices. We strongly recommend that your charge all your items during daytime and keep energy at night for the lights (you will be more than fine through all evening if you do so). Guest AccessYou are welcome to walk around the whole property! A river passes through the land and is a great spot to swim. We also have an artificial lake where you can use the 2 kayaks as you wish! A quincho (a traditional Chilean space) is available to all our guests to chill and prepare wonderful barbecues. You are welcome to use it, we just ask you to leave the space clean after using it for the other guests :) We also have a playground area that all children love! And last but not least, we can organize wonderful horseback riding excursions with our well-trained & friendly horses (we have about 25 on site). We are private, but fun & friendly. Please phone anytime of the day or night if we can be of assistance! Getting AroundA car is highly recommend as there are very little public transportation around.
