The SpaceWhere the first hills rise from Chile’s central valley to form the magnificent Andes mountain range, there is a charming country house tucked in a sunny valley surrounded by small family farms.
Despite its quiet location, it is conveniently located within an hour of the Termas de Chillán thermal baths and ski resort. Nearby are also numerous trailheads hike, climb a volcano, go snow shoeing or mountain biking.
The house will keep you warm in winter with passive solar heating and a wood stove and cool in summer under its tiled roof. It comfortably accommodates a couple or a small family.
At the top of the 30 acres property there is a wood cabin which can be used as a retreat or for children's play. It has a great view to the Andes mountains and the Volcano.
The house has a Finnish Sauna with a wood stove for you to use.

As far as hiking goes, the mountains around Las Termas de Chillan are a fantastic place to do it. Although walks over the fields and in the countryside by the house are lovely, you'll probably take a bus further into the mountains to explore the Andes. There is just one main road that goes up the valley that everyone, including buses use, so it's easy. The further you want to go up the valley the less buses run in a day, but it somehow always works.
You can also rent a car in Chillan if you want to do some serious exploring for a few days, into parallel valleys, but it's not necessary. There are also local guides who organize trips on foot or horseback to remote hot springs and high summits. The possibilities are endless.
There are language institutes in the city of Chillán, but that's a bit of a trip (about 1 hour by bus). You'll certainly have a chance to talk to our neighbors and other locals in Spanish. We can assist you in finding a teacher that may be able to come to the house. Generally, private lessons are very helpful and not that expensive.
When it comes to shopping, there are several villages nearby, you don't have to go the hour into Chillan to do it. Pinto is quite close, and most prefer to do their shopping there. The open-air market in Chillán is one of the most famous in the country for its inexpensive fresh vegetables, fish, trinkets, and lively atmosphere. We highly recommend that you experience it at least once during your stay. There are also American-style supermarkets in Chillan that have everything you can imagine.
There are always spices and dry goods in the house you're welcome to use too, so you don't have to buy a full kitchen for your stay. Guest AccessGuest have access to the entire house except one storage room. The barn on the property is not accessible for guests. Interaction with GuestsWe are not on site, but we are available via phone, and the neighbor who is the home's caretaker is available 24/7. The NeighborhoodIt is a quiet, peaceful place in farmland in the foothills of the Andes.
