The SpaceLittle Yard is a quaint B&B renovated from a traditional Chinese "siheyuan" (courtyard) in rural Beijing. It has 5 guest rooms, each with a private western-style bathroom and simple, rustic decor that resembles the surrounding nature. The shared yard and dining area offer plenty of space and sunshine to read your book over a cup of tea, and in the right seasons, you can pick and enjoy the fruit from our date trees or other vegetables that grow in our yard. Little Yard is also the home to our staff who lead lives that honor the environment. With the Chinese concepts of "harmony" and "deep thought" as our foundation, Little Yard is our home, and is your home away from home. Guest AccessGuests have free access to: - filtered drinking water - wifi - parking The yard, dining area and kitchen are shared spaces. The space is large enough to relax undisturbed, yet small enough to feel at home and share a conversation with us and other guests. We hope you feel as if you're in your own home, but we ask that you respect the privacy of our staff and other guests. Interaction with GuestsSometimes our dogs, Yuanyuan and Little River hang out at the yard, and some of our staff live here as well. Therefore someone is always around, and the village is very safe! Feel free to ask us for travel tips! The NeighborhoodLY is in a village filled with hutongs (alleyways) next to farmland, a river, and settled between mountains. This rural landscape provides lots of opportunities for hiking, picking-fruit, fishing, visiting farms and temples, and best of all, we are only only 5 km from Mutianyu and accessible to wild sections of the Great Wall. Getting AroundFrom Beijing city, hop on the 916 express from Dongzhimen bus terminal to Huairou BeiDaJie, and hail a taxi (~40 yuan) or call us to arrange a pickup (60 yuan). To continue by local bus, cross the street to the bus stop on the other side and look for the H23/916 bus headed towards 洞台 or 沙峪. Get off at 三渡河口 (Sanduhe Kou), cross the street and walk along the river on Bosan Road. Take the first right (you'll see a white water tower), and then take the 2nd left. We are the 2nd door on the right marked 和意小院. The entire journey should take about 2 hours. There is parking on site. To and from Beijing Capital International airport, we can arrange transportation (360 yuan). For other travel arrangements, please ask! Other Things to NoteIf you would like to have dinner at Little Yard, please reserve in advance as we prepare everything fresh, using mostly local and organic produce and meat. If you're lucky, you might just catch us serving something from our own garden! Dinner is 69 rmb per person, or 109 rmb on BBQ Saturdays. We organize guided tours and assist in other travel arrangements. We also offer cooking classes, tai chi classes, tea-tasting, and various other events and workshops. Every Sunday we organize community service activities such as our English-for-Fun workshop for the village children or our open baking workshop for the Beijing community. We welcome you to join us!

The SpaceOne garden and one field to grow vegetable. 2000 squre meters space and shared with little guests. Interaction with GuestsPablic TV, open air movie in summer, open air restaurant, organic food. Friendly local cultural introduction if you want to talk about~ The NeighborhoodReal undisturbed Greatwall culture, friendly villagers, rare Chinese triditional architect. Getting AroundBus route :Beijing – Huairou – Drunk Great Wall Hostel The journey to get to the DGW Hostel via public bus has two sections, the first one departs Beijing city to get to Huairou city and the second one from Huairou city to the small village next to where the DGW Hostel is located. Going by public bus is the local and cheaper way to get to DGWH but can also be less comfortable and more stressful than other ways of transport. We advise to pack lightly as you'll have to keep your luggage with you, the buses neither have any luggage facility's nor have any overhead space, and leg room, if you get a seat, can be "tight". GETTING TO DGW Hostel 1. Beijing – Huairou (pronounce Who-I-Raw) You have to go to Dongzhimen subway station (line 2) and use exit B. Once on the outside if you look at the Ginza shopping Mall's McDonald's across the street, the entrance to Dongzhimen Transportation Center 东直门枢纽will be at your back (NorthEast). Walk into the bus transfer Building 公交换乘大厅(passing a bright overhead billboard where you could spot the word “Gongjiaoshuniu” among other Chinese characters) and follow directions to the North platform. Enter the iron gates just in front of the McDonalds located inside the station and look for bus 916 stop. We recommend you take the express line that has green a sign at the front windshield 京承高速 (no need to retain those characters) while the slow line has no sign. Try to get seats on the left side of the bus (located at your right when you enter the bus). The rate is 12 RMB (prepare the right amount of notes, for there is no conductor to give change, put the money by yourself into the ticket box by the driver) or 4.40 RMB if you use IC transportation card. Travel for aprox 1 hour to reach Nanhuayuan Sanqu南花园三区 in Huairou. Then go ahead, across the traffic light(to the west) to the bus stop Nanhuayuan Siqu南花园四区(north of the road) 2. Huairou- Shuichangcheng 水长城 AT Nanhuayuan Siqu, the bus you have to take has no number on it´s front just 5 Chinese characters (怀柔-水长城). The first two are the name of the city (Huairou) and are common in most of the buses stopping here. You have to look for the last three characters and get familiar to them before getting there as the bus makes a short stop and people usually “jump” to try to get a seat. You should try to find some easy way to remember them even if you are not familiar with Chinese writing. Also keep in mind that the characters at the front of the bus could be a bit narrower and closer together than the ones we display here. 水 water (looks like a K with an extra left leg) 长 great (looks like a K with a extra stroke at its middle) 城 wall (has an X at its bottom right) These three characters stand for Shuichangcheng`s Lakeside Great Wall (the last stop of the line). The rate is 9 RMB (3,20 for IC transportation card users). Bus driver and conductor are helpful if you show them 水长城 You need to get off at Zhuangdaokou`s bridge stop 撞道口桥头 . You will know you are arriving there when the bus will stop at a rock carved mural about the Great Wall (to your right) and immediately will pass under an overhead route sign with Lakeside Great Wall written next to a 20 speed limit reminder (this one you will see it or not depending on where the bus will make its stop). Anyway there is a pronounced curve to the entrance of the village and a small river to your left. The bus may stop or not at the middle of the village (depending if anyone request so) but your stop would be at the end of the village just before the bridge (with no guards at the sides) that crosses a river/stream. Once off, cross it and walk around 400 mt following the direction of the departing bus and you will find the Hostel on your right.

The Space This is a beautiful traditional village courtyard home lovingly upgraded. Set in a friendly village with shops and restaurants close by, the house is minutes from the Great Wall and other lovely walks through the orchards, farms, valleys and mountains nearby. A breath of fresh air for city dwellers! As cosy in the winter as it is outdoorsy in the summer, we have not one but two internal wood burning fires that heat up the traditional kangs, as well as underfloor heating in the kitchen and bathroom to keep you warm and toasty through the winter. Guest Access The guests have complete access to the house. There are two designated bedrooms, one with a double bunk bed and one with a traditional 'kang' style bed that sleeps up to 6! Finally the living room also has unofficially the largest kang in the world which easily sleeps up to 10! There are kids toys, a swing and paddling pool for toddlers and games etc. Interaction with Guests We live in Beijing and can arrange a driver to pick you up from the airport or any location in Beijing and take you to the door - it normally takes 1.5 - 2 hours from central Beijing. We will be available by phone or email throughout your stay and have a local person who looks after the house who we can call if there is an emergency. The Neighborhood Its a lovely small village called Mafangtai, near a part of the Great Wall called Xiangshuihu. There is plenty of wild wall around, great cycling and hiking routes, and shops and restaurants in the village. Near the village are other scenic parts of the wall, the Ming tombs (around 40 mins by car) and the Schooolhouse and Mutianyu (20 minutes by car) A beautiful converted traditional cottage with views of the Great Wall, a large private courtyard and mod cons. Walk the wall, explore the village or simply hang out on our huge traditional Kang in a beautiful, fresh and peaceful environment 1.5h drive from Beijing

Guest AccessGuests have free access to: - filtered drinking water - wifi - parking The yard and dining area are shared spaces.

Getting AroundBus stops in 100 meters. Address: No 95, Zhuangdaokou Village, Jiuduhe Town, Huairou District, Beijing, P.R.China. Drunk Great Wall Hostel is located by the main road at the foot of Huanghuacheng Great Wall, 1km away from Lakeside Great Wall . Bus route 1:Beijing – Huairou – Drunk Great Wall Hostel The journey to get to the DGW Hostel via public bus has two sections, the first one departs Beijing city to get to Huairou city and the second one from Huairou city to the small village next to where the DGW Hostel is located.
