This room is special designed for couples, families of three or even three friends looking for vacations in Costa Rica (please refer to “House Rules" in order to see if it fits your needs). *We recommend to drink water only from bottles, you can buy bottles close to your room.* Guest AccessYour Airbnb in Costa Rica will have your own private entrance passing two doors. The room is inside the property but independent from the main house. Our idea is that our guest have their own privacy at a low cost. (Reefer to the pictures to understand guest access). Interaction with GuestsThe idea of creating a private room for you to have privacy during your Costa Rica vacations. The interaction we are looking is at the moment of your check-in also we can set a meeting to tell you all the things you need to know about your Costa Rica and your Airbnb private room and also you can share with us your itinerary to give some ideas while traveling. Also we are going to give the tips needed to moving around Costa Rica and the neighborhood.
We are going to be able to help you from 8am to 8pm, since we are not a hotel be patience when we are not able immediately, but there's almost always someone in the house to assist you.
First thing that we recommend you is to acquire a pre-paid cell phone line (bring an unlock smart phone) in order to communicate with us and also moving around, we recommend use Kolbi carrier (they are just outside of your airplane at the Juan Santamaria airport) and Claro carrier you can find lines close to your Airbnb private room in different businesses. We recommend you to download Waze App, here in Costa Rica is very very accurate as a GPS and Whats app to communicate with the host. The NeighborhoodI love where I live, San Rafael is located in the province of Heredia. Costa Rica has seven provinces: San José (Capital), Heredia, Alajuela, Cartago, Guanacaste, Puntarenas & Limón. San José, Heredia, Alajuela y Cartago are part of the GAM (Greater Metropolitan Area).
San Rafael is very close to the mountains but at the same time very close to Heredia downtown and other travel destinations perfect for your Costa Rica Vacations and your private room is located also very close to San Rafael downtown where you can find: restaurantes, small town bars, super markets, pharmacy, banks (Banco de Costa Rica and Banco Nacional de Costa Rica). Since we are in the mountains you will be able to do hikes close to your Airbnb private room. Getting AroundHeredia downtown is a 10/15 minutes from your private room (Heredia is known as the “City of Flowers"). You can find more options to eat like american food chains such as: McDonald's, KFC, Subway, Domino's Pizza, Quiznos. Also there's Sushi, Italian, Lebanese, Chinese, Caribbean food, Local Fried Chicken - Grilled Chicken, Colombian fast food & Mexican. If you are looking to try more Costa Rican typical food we highly recommend during day-time to visit the local súper markets (Mercado Central de Heredia & Mercado Viejo de Heredia).
There's a BIG mall name “Paseo de las Flores", the mall is 10 minutes away from your private room the mall is open from 10am to 9pm there you can find almost everything from clothing, food (52 options of restaurants), movie theaters, sports, electronics, cell phone carriers, a large variety of banks, pharmacies, night clubs (they close around 1:30am).
The location of San Rafael is perfect for any traveler because from there you can move to any part of the country. San José Downtown is at 30 minutes by bus (14km / 8.5 miles), Juan Santamaria International airport is at 20 minutes (We recommend to take a cab).
The closest beaches are Jacó Beach & Playa Hermosa (Hermosa Beach) located in the Central Pacific Coast in the province of Puntarenas at almost 2 hours depending on traffic (99km / 62 miles). We recommend to take shuttle transportation but if you want to live more the Costa Rica tourist experience take public transportation (notice that this will take more time to get to the destination).

We are very serious with our Costa Rica Airbnb, customer service and be transparent about things but remember Costa Rica is a third world country and things are different from US, Canada, Mexico etc.
We will take care of you and safety is the first thing we have in mind during your stay, but we cannot manage the follow things that could happen:
1. Power off: The company in charge of delivering electricity can shut down power from the neighborhood without notice. (this almost never happen but we are realistic)
2. Water off: The company in charge of delivering water can shut down water supply from the neighborhood without notice. Usually when they are going to do this they let us know the day before. Even is this happens we will supply you water, remember we are here to take care of you. (this almost never happen but we are realistic)
3. Cable TV & Internet: Same as before we do offer perfect internet connection up to 4MB and cable tv with 70+ channels and Chromecast. Sometimes the company shut down the service without notice.
4. Noise: This is a quiet neighborhood but we cannot control what happen outside of the property. There's a law in Costa Rica that you can have a party, music load etc before 10pm. After that hour your are free to call the police to shut down the noise.
