My cool and comfortable 2 bedroom apartment is in a quiet area (Dasoupolis) just 2 minutes’ walk from Athalassas str. Although it's not very central, there is a bus station one block away connecting the area with the town down area. But then again everything is near in a small town like Nicosia. If you want to explore the island Cyprus-style you can always rent a car. Most Cypriots use their cars to go around. These is plenty of parking space around the building and if necessary a private parking space can be provided as well. Around the apartment you can find two supermarkets, 2 fast-food restaurants and Acropolis Street with its many shops including a big Marks & Spencer’s. Acropolis Park is also very near from here in case you need a walk. The apartment consists of a large living room with a dining table, a large flat TV and a balcony overlooking the city, a large kitchen with everything necessary to prepare breakfast, lunch or dinner, two bedrooms and 1 1/5 bathrooms (a large bathroom with a bathtub near the master bedroom and a small one near the living room for guests). It comfortably fits five people. There are two bedrooms for 2 persons each and two leather sofas in the living room that can also sleep at least another person. What makes this apartment unique in the summer is the constant cool breeze. You will not want to use the AC during summer but of course you can use it if you want to. There are two ACs in the apartment that can cover the whole apartment; one in the living room and one in the master bedroom. You can use the ACs also for heating but two gas heaters are also available for those cold winter nights. The apartment will be delivered to you clean and spotless. During your stay, I will not disturb you, unless you need me for anything, in which case you can call me on mobile and I will be there shortly to help you with anything you need. The apartment is only 5 minutes’ drive from Kapnos airport shuttle station from which I could pick you up on your arrival if you wish. Free Wi-Fi is available in all the apartment.

Interaction with GuestsAs much as they wish, always available to provide info, directions and a warm wellcome. The NeighborhoodThe picturesque village of Lefkara is renowned for its beauty, its unique architecture, preserved to this day, and its lace-making tradition. A walk through the narrow stone-paved alleys of the village will steal your heart, revive your senses and bring you back in time. At an elevation of 700 meters, in the southern foothills of the Troodos Mountains, this jewel of the Cyprus villages is only 20 minutes away from the blue-flag Governor’s beach, and less than an hour’s drive from the major towns of Nicosia, Limassol and Larnaca. It is close to tourist attractions, major archaeological sites, medieval convents, monasteries and picturesque mountain villages. Lefkara offers cool, dry weather, unspoiled countryside and the opportunity to relax in a friendly, uniquely beautiful and peaceful rural environment and take short trips to explore Cyprus. With Lefkara as a base you can enjoy gorgeous beaches in the day and the cool dry mountain breeze in the evening. Golf courses and the Troodos square are only an hour away. The chosen resort town of the Venetian nobility, who introduced the local women to the art of lace-making in the Middle Ages, unspoiled and undiscovered Lefkara, still maintains the attributes that attracted the aristocracy of yesteryear. Getting AroundPublic transportation from Lefkara to the towns runs sparcely thru the day. A hired card is recommended for those who wish to move around and explore Cyprus. Other Things to NoteOur location is truly special in Lefkara. Inside the traditional village, steps away from shopping, yet with open spaces all around and gorgeous mountain views.

The SpaceElaia is a restored and extended house in traditional Cyprus style, built around a courtyard, lounge and kitchen/diner on one side, bedrooms on the other. It's tucked away just 100 metres from the village square. The ensuite bedrooms are the village room with a double bed and the orchard room with two singles. Guest AccessUntil September 2016 guests will have exclusive use of the house. From September onwards the Village and Orchard rooms will be available and the hosts will be living in the house and able to help you with any details regarding your stay. Interaction with GuestsStavroulla and Chris, my sister-in-law and her husband, will be available for any help required, and you may receive an occasional visit from someone wanting to greet you! The NeighborhoodLythrodontas is an authentic, living Cyprus village, known for its olive groves. Many residents now work in Nicosia and come home in the evening, when the village comes to life. It's easily accessible from the highway network, 15 minutes' from the A1/A2 highway interchange at Perachorio, which is 15 minutes south of Nicosia. Away from the village, guests can enjoy walking in the surrounding countryside. With a car, it's easy to explore the Troodos mountain villages and coastal areas. Getting AroundThere is a bus service via Perachorio to Nicosia but a car is recommended for guests who wish to travel about more easily. There's free parking in the street next to the house. There is also a "rural taxi" service in the village. Other Things to NoteElaia is fun for all the family but young children need careful supervision as there are stairs and balconies.

Our holiday villa is located in the beautiful village of Lefkara nestled into the foot of the Mountainside 650m above ground level, Pano Lefkara is a small, traditional and picturesque village in the Larnaca District and considered one of the most peaceful and tranquil locations in Cyprus. Although secluded, Lefkara is central to the entire Island of Cyprus and still not far from other villages and Cities, with Ayia Napa approximately a 45min drive, and in the opposite direction Paphos is approximately 60mins away. Ideally situated between mountains and sea, Lefkara is a unique destination with a climate that is cooler than the coast, offering relief in the summer months. Immerse yourself in tranquillity and experience a taste of “real Cyprusâ€?. Lefkara is centrally located just 10km from the Nicosia-Limassol highway in the center of Cyprus, at a distance of less than 50km from the major cities of Nicosia, Limassol and Larnaca and about 20km from Governor's beach, a blue flag beach in the countryside. (Access only by private car or taxi.) Lefkara is a great starting point to explore Cyprus with a good road network adjoining Lefkara to the major cities and other villages in the Mountain and the coastal areas. As you can see, our circa 200 year old house has all of it's quaint original features and sleeps 5. It is suitable for families with young children, couples and groups. With secure private courtyard with lockable doors leading directly into the kitchen or snug room and from there into a comfortable living area with a flat screen TV and DVD player. Upstairs we have 2 double bedrooms, both with exquisite views overlooking mountains and the sea, on a clear day. The main bedroom has a ceiling fan and there are portable fans for use elsewhere. In addition, we have an occasional room, which has a single bed. The modern bathroom has a bath and shower. Lefkara is a small, traditional village and a common sight is groups of local women who sit in the narrow village streets working on their fine lace, with the men playing their backgammon, as they have for centuries. The village is also known for its skilled silversmiths who produce fine filigree work. There is also a small factory making "Lefkara Delight" nearby.A folklore museum, situated nextdoor to our house, demonstrates what life was like in Cyprus a hundred years ago. The museum is located in a restored house and exhibits the furniture and effects of a wealthy Cypriot family, local costumes and examples of the Lefkara lacework. According to legend, Leonardo da Vinci visited the village in 1481 and purchased a lace cloth for the main altar of the Duomo di Milano. The da Vinci style lace can still be purchased today. The beautiful traditional buildings and architecture show off the skills of the artisans that once occupied Lefkara. Several restaurants in the town and vicinity offer traditional Cypriot dishes and fresh fish is available from the nearby coastal areas. Lefkara tava, a traditional Lefkara dish, is offered exclusively in the Lefkara area. Most restaurants serve 'mpourekia', a pastry filled with anari, the cyprus ricotta cheese equivalent, a must taste. Come out and see for yourself the history and charm that Cyprus and Lefkara have to offer. For your stay in Lefkara we would recommend car hire, however there are plenty of cycle and walking trails once you are here. On your doorstep there are medieval monasteries and convents, folk museums and the Dipotamos Dam, to name but a few sites within the immediate vicinity of our house. (A taxi from Larnaca airport will cost approximately â‚Ź35). We look forward to welcoming and looking after our guests in the best possible way! Elaia is in the Nicosia area, in the village of Lythrodontas, a picturesque village on the eastern edge of Troodos with a backdrop of hills and mountains with pine trees, olive trees and aromatic wild herbs. Elaia is just a hundred metres from the leafy village square, yet tucked away to offer a secluded, private courtyard with upper and lower patios, quality patio furniture, peaceful, and beautiful with its scented jasmines and other Mediterranean plants. You can enjoy a drink at the village square kafeneion/ Cafes just a minute's walk away. A corner shop is only two minutes from the house. Lythrodontas is a thriving village, nestled on the foothills of the eastern edge the Troodos mountain range, in the Nicosia district, and only a half hour drive from Nicosia, the capital. The village is surrounded by olive groves and pine trees as the hinterland rises gradually to the mountains. Local amenities include: Swimming pool in the area is within 5km (June, July, August) at Ktima Alexiou. (Then at Dhali 10km and 15km at Latsia) Please ask us or ask locally if interested. The nearest beach at Larnaka is about 35 minutes drive. The village square with its traditional cafes. The kiosk (“periptero”) by the village square sells milk, cans of drink and a limited range of food, newspapers and magazines. The main supermarket is on the right of the main road as you drive into the village, about 400 metres before the village square. This stocks a large range of food and household goods, as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Opening hours are: Every day: 5h00 to 22h00. Fresh bread and local pastries are also available at the supermarket. - Vegetable and fruit market – there is a local vegetable and fruit market on Tuesdays 100m from the village square on the main road. The supermarket has also deals on fresh produce on Tuesdays. There are three restaurants/tavernas which also do takeaway, all within walking distance. These serve local dishes such as “souvlaki” – small cubes of grilled meat / kebab, served in pitta bread with salad and meze dishes and more. They are 'Erythrodontas', To Steki tou Marinou, Doozy, and 'Ela na this' (only 60 seconds walk from Elaia). Between Lythrodontas and Mathiatis village the Millennium Futbal sports area, between the two villages, is a restaurant with an excellent local chef, Giorgos. His speciality is “meze” – a succession of perhaps 15 small dishes so you need to go hungry... check latest status with Chris in case Giorgos moves elsewhere! Kapedes- The village of Kapedes is a 15 minute drive north west of Lythrodontas. There's quite a large restaurant, the Acropolis, with lovely views. - Nicosia Old Town (inside the old city walls) Nicosia is about 25 minutes away but contains a number of good restaurants in the old town. Some of these are on and around Onasagorou Street which runs parallel to the well known but rather touristy Lidras Street. - The village also has a petrol station, a bank, a doctor and a chemist. Activities in and from the village - Explore the village and meet the friendly local people - Go for countryside walks, including on the European long-distance path E4 (eg. the Lefkothea nature trail a couple of miles outside the village on the road to Lefkara.) - Visit the old and the new church with its hand-painted murals and icons in the village - Have a drink and watch the world go by in the traditional 'Kaffeneion'(cafe) in the charming village square. - Go horse-riding (by arrangement) - Make day trips to the beach, nearest Larnaca, 35km, for swimming and watersports. Ayia Napa and Protaras are only an hour's drive away. - Visit other places of interest on the island (we have plenty of guides at the house). Several guests have told us that staying at Lythrodontas is ideal for visits to the whole island. - Explore old Nicosia - only 30 minutes easy drive. Lythrodontas is a busy and authentic Cypriot village with friendly local people – the charming, leafy village square (only 100 metres from Elaia) is a truly unhurried and relaxing place to enjoy sun and shade, chatting and gazing, sip a beer, coffee or have an ice-cream. At the side is the small older church, and close by a corner shop, banks, and good takeaways – very good souvlaki! A well stocked supermarket is only 10 minutes walk from the square. The new church with its extensive hand painted wall and ceiling murals a few minutes walk from the square is worth visiting. The climate is sunny, dry and warm for most of the year averaging 25 degrees in the spring and autumn, 15 degrees in the winter and 35 degrees in the summer months.

This picturesque village is located on the Southern slopes of the Troodos Mountains in the Larnaca district. Made up of two separate districts Pano and Kato Lefkara, today there are around 1100 inhabitants. During the Venetian period, Lefkara was a popular holiday destination for the nobles and visitors to the village today will notice the Venetian-influenced architecture of the houses and narrow cobbled streets. Lefkara is best known for its silver filigree and lace making and in fact “Lefkaritika” lace work features on the UNESCO list of Intangible Cultural Heritage. As the story goes, Leonardo Da Vinci visited the village during the Venetian period and was so impressed by the lace work that he bought a large piece of it which he eventually donated as an altar cloth to Milan Cathedrall. Other famous visitors include the Apostles Paul and Barnabas who passed through the village en-route to Paphos where they converted the Roman Governor to Christianity. At the spot where they are believed to have stopped to rest a water spring appeared which can still be seen today. Modern-day visitors can visit the spring, as well as the impressive Church of the Holy Cross and a medieval chapel built into the walls of what is now a hotel! The ladies of Lefkara still sit outside their homes working on their lace-work and there is also a workshop making traditional silverware. The village is home as well to a family business that has produced award-winning “loukoumi” or Cyprus Delight for generations! Walkers and cyclist are spoiled for choice with some great trails in the area and everyone will enjoy exploring the winding cobbled alleys at the heart of the village. There are a number of traditional coffee shops and taverns in the village and in recent years some funky little cafes and bars that attract a younger crowd. There are small supermarkets, a pharmacy and ATM’s in the village as well as doctors, dentists and hairdressers. A ten-minute drive down the hill just off the main Limassol-Larnaca highway there is a large Alfa-Mega supermarket and fast food outlet. Lefkara lies inland and is a 27-minute drive from Governor’s Beach where you can also find some very good restaurants. The fishing village of Zigi is 23-minutes by car and a great choice for a fresh fish meze. The city of Larnaca lies 32 minutes’ drive to the East and Limassol 39 minutes to the West.
