At an elevation of 1,477 meters over sea level, Apaneca is the highest point in El Salvador that has a settlement. The name is derived from the indigenous language of the country, and it means â€œRiver of windâ€?. It is part of a touristic municipalities in El Salvador known as the Flowers Route. This route is composed of 5 municipalities between the Department of Sonsonate, and Ahuachapan, and it is one the safest areas in El Salvador. With a very pleasant climate, it has developed a lot of touristic activities, and services.
Apaneca is more or less at the center of the Flowers Route, and provides an easy access to the different activities in the area. The area is a coffee growing area with beautiful mountain scenery. You will be able to find activities from extreme sports to relaxing coffee bars where you can listen to live music. You will also find all kinds of local craft stores.
The Casita of Apaneca is located 1km from the downtown area of Apaneca, and 200 mts from the main road. It is located within a secured complex that provides security 24 hours a day. The complex is composed of 13 houses only separated by gardens, and provide a very pleasant environment to relax.
