The SpaceThe two ensuite bedrooms can be used as either super kingsize doubles or as twin bedded rooms (two single beds). This combination of rooms with the breakfast/dining room, and with a separate front door make it perfect for four friends together, or a family. Equally our twin rooms provide a comfortable stay for single people, especially for those working locally Monday-Friday. We are very quietly located with a large garden in a village used to film Miss Marples TV series in beautiful countryside with private parking. We are dog-friendly with walks nearby. Guest AccessGuests have their own front door and keys. They share the breakfast room. They have free access into my garden (large and pretty) except my private terrace. Guests rooms are in a wing of my house, and guests have access to my utility room where they can use the fridge/freezer, microwave and sink if they want to make their own suppers. My own part of the house is private. Interaction with GuestsI always greet my guests (usually between 5 and 7.30 pm unless they want to come a different time) and show them their rooms. Guests help themselves to buffet style breakfast at any time of their choosing with a cooked breakfast as an option at weekends. I have lots of leaflets about local attractions and advise as much as possible if they need any help and have a bell they can ring if they need me. I am always at home when I have guests, but I expect them to go out during the day. The NeighborhoodMy village is unique. It has a 11C Church with Saxon wall paintings and has the prettiest thatched cottages. We are surrounded by wonderful countryside and many historical sites and National Trust gardens. Stockbridge is well-known for shops, restaurants, pubs and the River Test. We have the Clarendon Walk nearby and many cycling routes. What my guests want, they can probably find near here! It is even worth going to London for the day to see the sights, or to Isle of Wight, or the New Forest. The Cathedral Cities of Winchester and Salisbury are equidistant. Stonehenge within easy reach. Getting AroundAs we are in a Hampshire Country village there is no public transport to speak of and you need a car. Walk along miles and miles of Hampshire's footpaths and rivers - one of the most famous fly fishing rivers in the world, The Test, is only minutes away - then enjoy a well-earned lunch in one of our fantastic local pubs. We are close to St Mary Bourne and Longparish, classic English villages full of thatched cottages, endless walks and country pubs serving hearty roasts in front of log fires. There is a train line quite nearby, but the houses' double-glazing means you won't notice it. Whitchurch station is five minutes down the road, and trains take an hour to London direct, so day-trips to The Capital are a doddle. Other day trips include historic Winchester: twenty minutes by car, it's the ancient capital of England, with its Cathedral, fantastic shopping, restaurants and even an open air ice rink. Highclere Castle, where they shoot Downton Abbey, is about 15 minutes away. Other nearby stately homes include Mottisfont Abbey, with its river walks and thirties interior - a glimpse into the privileged life of the British aristocracy. Mottisfont is great for children as well, with outdoor trails and craft sessions, plus there's Finkley Down Farm down the road and Chilbolton Cow Common where you can swim in the river Test (when its warm enough!) Stockbridge is also worth a visit for its quirky cafes and independent shops. Newbury is twenty minutes in the other directions and offers great shopping and wonderful walks along the Kennet and Avon Canal. The New Forest is under an hour away, an ancient hunting forest where Ponies still graze wild. Eat at The Pig, renowned as one of the best restaurants in the south. If you're on a road trip, or continuing on elsewhere, then we're incredibly well-connected by road and rail. An hour from London, easy access to the West Country via the A303 which is five minutes away and the north and South Coast via the A34 which again is five minutes away. Getting AroundThe nearest mainline station to London is only five minutes away so you can train and taxi here BUT once here, it is remote so you will need a car to get to the shops etc. There is plenty of off-street parking at the front. From Heathrow, you could either pick up a hire car and drive down the M3 - it will take you just over an hour. Or you could take the train to Clapham Junction, then on to Whitchurch. We're a five minute's taxi journey away, then you could arrange to have a hire car dropped off here. Other Things to NoteThere is plenty of space to put down our very-comfortable King Size aero-bed in the main living space if you want to accommodate more than four people. Please note, the minimum rental time is 7 nights. Also our furniture is now slightly different from what is shown in the first photo.

The SpaceThis is a lovely relaxing space to spend a few days doing your own thing, whether that be cycling, walking or visiting historic towns and beautiful forests and beaches, or simply staying at home and reading, having a long soak with candles or enjoying our garden. This annex is my workspace but I am happy to have guests staying at the times when I am not working. There is a double bed upstairs and we can provide a single bed downstairs if there are three of you. Guest AccessYou have the annex all to yourself and a key, plus if you don't mind large. dogs, hens and ducks you are welcome to use our landscaped garden to relax in provided you have had a proper introduction to our Saint Bernard. There is a separate garden for you if you and the animals don't get on :) Interaction with GuestsWe are available for anything you need but otherwise, we will leave you to your own devices. I also separately offer 'rest and relax' retreats of two days which include supportive interactions and regular meals for people troubled by anxiety, stress or exhaustion. Please ask about this if you would like to know more. The NeighborhoodOur immediate location is very surprising, since we are close to main arteries, yet tucked away in a very quiet and beautiful plot of three quarters of an acre at the end of an unmade lane. The general area is safe and friendly and our neighbours are quiet and considerate. Most of us in the lane have pets, so you will hear occasional barking or hens clucking. Getting AroundAndover train station is 1.5 miles away, there are taxis at the station, or if we have plenty of notice we can sometimes arrange to collect you. London takes an hour by train and we are close to A(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) for easy access by car to Salisbury, Stonehenge, Winchester, New Forest, Bournemouth and the River Test for fishing. Other Things to NoteThere is no washing machine or TV in the Annex but you are welcome to give us your washing to put in our machine and you can stream your films using our Wifi if you choose. There is a washing line next to the annex. We have a variety of pets at the house, including a Spaniel and a St Bernard, plus a cats several hens and a couple of ducks. They are all friendly - the St Bernard is young but also nervous of new people, so his initial caution and barking at the start can eventually turn into larger and louder than life enthusiasm. The animals roam around the adjacent landscaped garden freely so if you are not keen on animals, or are scared of large dogs, this might not be the place for you :)

The NeighborhoodAbbotts Ann is a busy but friendly village. 5 minutes from the A 303, Andover has a station (8 minutes away) with fast trains to London and the south west. Salisbury is only 20 minutes away. There are alot of pubs in the area, cinema in Andover and just ask for any ideas of where to walk or what to do while you are staying. Abbotts Ann is safe and peaceful but there are NO street lights so ask for a torch to walk to the pub with or ideally bring your own. Getting AroundThere is plenty of space to park safely on the lane but off road, covered parking is available if requested. I can give you the number for a taxi to and from Andover, they are good and reliable. Other Things to NoteThere is a dog in the house but she is quite old just interested in her food! She loves guests because they give her a biscuit when they arrive. Please say if you do not like dogs and I will make sure she is shut in the sitting-room when you arrive.
