The SpaceTucked away at the bottom of our large garden, the cottage is an 18th century former wool dye-ing stone house which has been lovingly renovated with a contemporary, timber framed extension. It combines period and character features with contemporary fittings and furnishings. Inside, a large, light studio room, featuring original oak beams and dye channel brick work, combines sleeping and living. The very comfortable kingsize bed boasts a deluxe, handmade sprung mattress with duck feather duvet and pillows for extra cosiness and pressed cotton bedlinen and towels. We have furnished the Dye House with an eye for both comfort and design - the leather armchair and sofa are decked with cushions and blankets, oak and rattan wishbone Hans Wegner chairs seat you at the table, rugs underfoot add texture and colour. There is an en-suite kitchen and a separate wet room with a walk-in shower with rain shower head. There is WI-FI and, while there is no tv, you can enjoy the home cinema and its extensive film library. A wood burning stove, along with underfloor heating, will keep you warm in the winter months. Surrounded by trees and nature, with singing birds aplenty, when the sun is shining you can throw open the double doors onto an open wooden deck overlooking the garden and vegetable beds. Our garden has some lovely spots to sit and relax and the swimming pool, trampoline and soft tennis/ badminton (all shared use with owners) provide additional fun for the summer months. To welcome you we provide some breakfast goodies, including eggs (from our hens when laying!), a homemade loaf, butter, jam and tea and coffee supplies. We highly recommend our local, family-run, cafe, Gather, 10 minutes walk away on the high street who do wonderful coffee, pastries, breakfasts and lunch. They also supply award-winning Bertinet bread daily. And on Friday nights they are open to 10pm, serving delicious organic food and drinks (they are licensed). We will be happy to help you with anything you need to know about the local area including personal recommendations for the best places to shop, eat, enjoy the vibrant Bath arts scene and walk. The centre of Bath is only 15 minutes by car or taxi, and only a bit longer for the very regular, local buses - or alternatively walk to nearby Bathampton and, in the spring and summer months, you can take the river boat direct to Pulteney Weir in the centre. You can also walk or cycle straight into Bath along the canal from Bathampton. You can enjoy beautiful countryside, canal and riverside walks from our door. As well as our stunning and peaceful Catherine Valley, we are on the edge of the Cotswolds - the Cotswolds Way runs close by and we are near many wonderful National Trust houses and picturesque villages including Dyrham Park, Lacock, Castle Combe, Great Chalfield and Bradford on Avon. Other west country attractions including Stonehenge, Glastonbury, Wells, Avebury, Longleat House and Safari Park, Westonbirt Arboretum and the newly opened Hauser and Wirth gallery at Bruton all make good day trips. In Bath itself, there is so much to recommend - from the unique beauty of its Georgian architecture and city planning including the world-renowned Royal Crescent and Circus, the original Roman Baths and the uber-modern Thermae Bath Spa, Britain's only natural thermal spa. The city boasts fantastic shopping, gorgeous cafes and a huge choice of award-winning restaurants and pubs. The newly extended Holburne Museum is located in Sydney Gardens alongside the picturesque Kennett and Avon canal. Regular cultural festivals including the Bath Film Festival, The Bath International Music Festival, Comedy Festival and both children's and adult Literature Festivals. The Bath Theatre Royal and Egg Children's Theatre showcase some of the UK's best theatre, while Komedia is where to head for first rate comedy, music and cabaret. Bath is an easy city to walk around but if you fancy doing it on 2 wheels the city, like London, now has a public bicycle hire system and you can also rent bikes locally. The village of Batheaston has a newsagents, post office, convenience store, chemist, a couple of pubs, a good fish and chip shop and the lovely Gather cafe. Other close pubs are the Bathampton Mill (you can walk there across the fields), the Crown at Bathford, the Muddy Duck at Monkton Farleigh and the King William on the London Road, Bath. One of the many lovely walks from the cottage is to climb up Solsbury Hill and soak up the 360 degree views, including a great aerial view of Bath. A short walk to the foot of the iron age fort (immortalised by Peter Gabriel in his eponymous ballad) will take you past our local market garden shop, Chris Rich's, which sells home-grown fruit, vegetables, local honey and preserves. Larkhall with its independent shops including a delicatessen, butcher and greengrocer is a 5 minute drive away. Because of the excellent transport connections you do not need a car to stay here, though if you come by car you can park in our drive and then choose how to get around once you're here. Bath Spa train station provides twice hourly trains to London in 90 minutes and regular trains to the dynamic city of Bristol in 10 minutes. We are a 45 minute drive from Bristol airport. The cottage is an ideal get-away for a couple, two friends or a single person. It is perfect if you want to stay within close range of Bath and enjoy all the city has to offer from a peaceful base in some of the most beautiful countryside in the area. We will also consider babies up to six months (free of charge) and up to 2 additional young people or adults over the age of eleven (for an extra charge) - please ask when you enquire. PLEASE NOTE! The Dye House is at the bottom of our garden - accessed down a sloping garden and then a boardwalk. It is therefore not recommended for anyone with walking issues or who isn't steady and strong on their legs and feet. The Dye House is STRICTLY NON-SMOKING. The Dye House is situated at the bottom of our garden so the cottage is very private and separate. We have 2 children (13 and 14) - who are at school in the week during term-time - a small, friendly dog called Myrtle and some (penned) hens. Interaction with GuestsWe are usually on hand during your stay to give you advice and pointers, should you need any. Other Things to NoteFor a special treat we can arrange a treatment with a local massage and reiki practitioner in her wood-fired yurt home in a magical woodland setting only ten minutes drive up the valley. We can also point you in the right direction for sessions at the beautiful Thermae Bath Spa and local bike hire. Please note that for bank holiday weekends and during the month of August we request a minimum 3 night booking, for all other bookings the minimum is 2 nights.

It houses our dormitory accommodation for groups, backpackers and holiday makers. It also boasts a rather unusual mural on the grand main staircase. All guests have access to single sex bathroom facilities throughout the range of accommodation and all areas have secure access, ensuring your safety at all times. We do not have ensuite rooms but there are separate male and female showers and toilets that have recently been refurbished. All our single, twin, double, triple and quad rooms have been refurbished, delivering a higher standard of hostel room in Bath. All our house rooms are accessible by a key fob. Staff on the 24 hour reception are nearly all locals who know Bath inside out. So we can help you plan your stay, organise and book tours or recommend a place to eat or visit. We will let you know what's on, where's in and what to avoid and what's unmissable in Bath. Guests at the YMCA also benefit from access to our fantastic health and fitness centre (at a discounted rate), with a great gym, a wicked range of classes for those of you who want to sweat, tone or relax, sauna, sunbeds and the friendliest gym staff you are ever likely to meet. So, if you are travelling but want to maintain your fitness programme or just chill out in the sauna - we're the place for you. If you are travelling in a big group we can also offer conference facilities/meeting rooms further catering etc - just ask and we will do our best to deliver! We can accommodate over 200 people a night, so whether you are travelling alone or in a big group; old, young or with children - we have the bed for you. Alongside the warm welcome, we also offer: Light breakfast in the price (cereals, toast, jams, coffee, tea, juice, fruit and yoghurt) Cooked breakfast available at a very reasonable cost Linen included in the price 24 hour staffed reception Internet access Laundry facilities Towel Hire No lockout/curfew Credit/debit cards accepted Security lockers/left luggage Conference facilties (charges may apply) Fantastic health and fitness suite (at a discounted rate) City centre location Children/families very welcome Bike parking No smoking Tel/fax facilities Extra pillow in wardrobe A warm welcome We do not have a self catering kitchen although we do provide a micro wave, plates, cutlery and hot water when our restaurant is closed. The hostel does not have a lift, if you have difficulty with stairs please let us know and we will ensure you are placed on the first floor or the room on the ground floor if available. If you are looking for value for money, clean accommodation, smack bang in the centre of Bath - then a warm welcome awaits you at the YMCA. Tip! - Saturday nights are very popular - so always try to book in advance. Check in: 12.00 Check out: 10.00 am Another great reason to stay at the YMCA is that Bath YMCA is a registered charity (No: 1106370). Any surplus we make go directly back in to supporting the charity work we do with vulnerable young people in Bath and beyond. Please note that guests under the age of 18 are not allowed unless accompanied by an adult. No minimum stay required.
