The SpaceOur lovely, spacious and sunny house is set over a number of floors and includes 2 spiral stair cases! It's an unusual and fun house! As you come into the main entrance of our Edwardian house on the ground floor, you can take the stairs going up to the top floor - this is by far the quickest and easiest way to get your luggage up to bedroom 2 and bedroom 3 on the top floor. This route will take you past the flat that our tenants live in. They have their own private flat entrance but we all share the main front door to the house. We ask you to be considerate of this please and to only use that part of the staircase for taking your luggage up and down to minimise any noise. To enter the flat, take the stairs going down to the main internal door where you will come to the large and spacious kitchen and dining room. The kitchen is fully equipped (it also has a stereo and a number of CDs - please keep them in order - thank you!) so you can make lovely dinners and sit in the dining room at the dining table which comfortably sits 6 and has underfloor heating; it also overlooks the big garden with amazing views across Brighton. You can get beautiful sunsets from this side of the house! There are large patio doors that lead from the dining area onto the large south west facing, sunny patio area and then steps into the very large garden with lawns and lots of trees. It also has a wooden deck further down the garden and a tree house. On this floor you can access bedroom 1 which has a double bed and a desk and also a bathroom with a loo, bath and electric shower. There is a utility room where you will find the washing machine, tumble drier, ironing board /iron and microwave. Before you head up the spiral stairs, notice the dinner bell! Ring this when dinner is ready so everybody in the house knows to head down to the kitchen! It's by far the best way to get everybody together as the house is so spread out. Head up the first spiral stair case to the sitting room. A lovely, light and cosy room with 2 big sofas and amazing views over the garden and over Preston Park. There's a flat screen TV with Netflix, Sky and Sky Sports, a piano and a guitar which you are welcome to use. Head up the second spiral stair case to the top floor and up a further hallway staircase to reach the other two bedrooms and the shower room. Bedroom 2 has a double bed, a big sofa and a huge flat screen TV. Bedroom 3 has a double bed. Each room has a chest of drawers that can be used and hooks and hangers for hanging clothes. The shower room has a great shower, loo, basin and a heated towel rail. Both rooms have great views down to the sea and over Brighton. On the landing outside of these 2 bedrooms is a kettle, fridge and tea and coffee so you can help yourself to a hot drink in the mornings as it's a long way down to the kitchen! We have very good WiFi throughout the house. We also provide shampoo and soap. We have luxury linen and towels for all guests. Guest AccessGuests have access to our house as described above, the private driveway and the garden. Interaction with GuestsWe work with Airhost For You who will be your local point of contact should you need any help or advice. You can also get them 24/7 on Airbnb. The NeighborhoodOur house is in the Preston Park/Fiveways area of Brighton. Close to both Brighton station and Preston Park station, it is a beautiful area with tree lined streets and two lovely parks. There are great places to eat and drink nearby! Fiveways, also known as North Village, is about 10 minutes walk from us and has some lovely places to get a coffee and croissant for breakfast [or a bit more!] and a small but good selection of shops for all of your needs. There is a great gastro/micro brewery pub called The Preston Park Tavern just a road away from us! This is a great location for visiting the city of Brighton. It takes about 20 minutes to walk to The North Laine area which is full of fabulous, independent cafes, restaurant, bars and entertainment venues such as The Komedia and The Dome. Another 10 minutes on and are you are passing the amazing Brighton Pavilion and standing on the sea front and in the heart of our vibrant city! The iconic Duke of Yorks cinema and the London Road area which has a growing selection of good restaurants cafes and bars, is just down the road about 10 minutes walk from our house. The Jolly Poacher, The Signalman, The Open House and The Hare and Hounds are all recommended places to enjoy good food and drinks. Getting AroundA taxi from Brighton station to here is about £7.50 and takes about 5 mins depending on the time of day and traffic /weather conditions. Uber taxis have just started operating in the area so it is definitely worth trying this service as an alternative. We are very fortunate that the 5B bus service that runs along our road and takes you into the city approximately every 15 minutes! It is very convenient and goes from just over the road. Great if you don't want to walk or if it is wet. We have 2 off-street parking spaces that you are welcome to use. This is a huge bonus in Brighton. We don't advise driving into the centre of Brighton as parking is difficult and extremely expensive. Other Things to NoteOur cat, Freddie, who is a very friendly cat, will be at the house. You don't need to do anything other than be nice to him as the tenants from the flat next door will pop in and feed him. He also has a cat flat so he can come in and out as he pleases! Please keep the internal entrance door to the flat and the back door to the garden locked at all times for security purposes. Please do not use the fireplaces in the dining room or the sitting room as there is a problem with the chimney. There is central heating throughout and underfloor heating in the dining room so it's very cosy and warm.

The SpaceThe cottage was built in 1835, and is located on a pedestrian street: a really surprising feature is that the gardens are across the path from the front door, which means you have a peaceful, green view from the bedrooms (and can see the seagulls). We've decorated in seaside blues and whites, with reclaimed radiators and Brighton-themed pictures. In winter, the house is super-cosy, while in summer, the garden is perfect for entertaining. The kitchen-diner is sociable - cook and chat with friends or family. But the living room/lounge has books, music, TV etc, if you or your other guests want to chill out separately. We have Netflix, Amazon Prime and a huge DVD collection. (To watch live BBC/ITV channels, you'll need to connect your tablet or laptop via wifi, and have a TV license at your home address). The kitchen is fully equipped with crockery, utensils, glassware, plus a fridge, freezer, small dishwasher and washing machine/tumble dryer. Both bedrooms are light and airy with super-comfy beds. The master bedroom has a large built-in wardrobe and drawers, while the second double has a hanging rail. The bathroom has a Victorian roll-top bath - glossily resurfaced - and a big, powerful shower over. Please note that there's a high step into the bath, and it can wobble very slightly on the original metal casters, but is completely solid! Please do note that the original wooden staircase is quite steep so due to the risk of slipping, we do not advise you to book if you have young children or difficulties with stairs. Guest AccessAll areas: you'll have the house to yourself, and use of the garden (though we may need to do some gardening/watering in summer - as the garden is not accessed through the house, we won't need to disturb you). You'll also have access to our lovely beach hut for the day (it's just over a mile's walk away, in Hove). Interaction with GuestsWe can help with ideas of where to visit and what to do, but equally, it's your trip, so it's up to you whether you'd like recommendations or not. The NeighborhoodNorth Laine is a fantastic place to stay - so lively and full of great shops and places to eat, but less than 15 minutes' walk to the beach. We provide a handy list of our favourites! Getting AroundWalking really is the easiest way to get around. But Brighton & Hove buses are regular, if not particularly cheap. The centre fare, taking you as far as Hove Town Hall to the west and well past Kemptown to the left, is £2 for adults. Ask your driver for a day ticket – offers vary but if you’re planning to take more than two trips, it’s worthwhile. Many of the buses leave from outside the mainline railway station – there’s also an information kiosk there and a bus guide. As well as normal city travel, there’s an open top bus – great on a sunny day – plus the Coastliner that takes you to other resorts, or the 77 that takes you to beauty spot Devil’s Dyke for a stunning view of the South Downs. Brighton Station is very close, just at the top of the hill. You can get connections to all over the UK – there’s a manned ticket office where they will help you make sense of the complicated fare systems, but there’s often a queue. Or order in advance via (URL HIDDEN) or (URL HIDDEN) and collect at the station. The ticket machines also sell tickets for use on the day of travel but again the queues can be long, so allow plenty of time. The station itself is well-equipped with a Marks and Spencer, WH Smith, great coffee stalls and other sellers on the forecourt including bread and pastries from Real Patisserie (we like the almond bites). Plus The Cyclist is a great pub/bar/café with food on the station concourse itself, really good if you have a bit of a wait. Parking: If you drive into central Brighton, parking can be difficult and expensive. The two nearest car parks to the cottage are the council-run Trafalgar St car park (the entrances are actually in Blackman St and Whitecross St) (URL HIDDEN) and the privately-run North Road car park, (URL HIDDEN) – check rates but at the time of writing, it’s £16-£17.50 for 24 hours in Trafalgar St, and £26 (ouch) in North Road. The London Road car park is a little further and very slightly cheaper than the Trafalgar St one: (URL HIDDEN) You can also try (URL HIDDEN) or (URL HIDDEN) for cheaper options in the area, including hiring someone's driveway - that can work out better value in this area. Taxis: there is a taxi rank at the station, and Uber have just started operating in Brighton and Hove. Or try (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) or 414141. The white and green cabs can also be hailed on the street. Other Things to NoteAs noted, the cottage includes steep stairs and a bath with a high step so is not suitable for young children or if you have trouble with stairs.
