The SpaceThis chalet-style cottage is set in its own grounds. It has recently been refurbished with a delightful fully fitted kitchen which boasts a dishwasher, washing machine & dryer. Upstairs the double bedroom now benefits from the new addition of an ensuite bathroom & toilet. The cottage has its own modem wifi connection. Out used, the front is set to lawn sweeping down the drive to a copse of trees & hedging. The cottage itself is set well back and to the rear enjoys its own secluded private garden. The Bin Brook is to the eastern boundary which runs all the way to Cambridge to Jesus College. The picturesque open countryside is easily accessed by public footpaths: 'The Wimpole' & 'Portway' are both ancient pilgrims' routes back to Chaucer's time. This all just 15 minutes drive from Cambridge or 5-10 minutes drive to the Park & Ride: Madingley or Trumpington. There is also very efficient public transport: just 20 minutes by 'Whippet' bus direct to Bridge Street by Magdalene College which goes hourly directly outside the cottage drive. In addition, the 'Citi 4' goes x3 per hour with last bus at 11pm leaving from Drummer Street in Cambridge. For the fit, there is a fully dedicated cycle path & route into the city. The cottage comfortably suits a couple with additional sleeping for a family: twin beds can be either set upstairs or one separately in the downstairs lounge. Guest AccessAccess is allowed to the delightful secluded cottage garden which has garden furniture & BBQ. Please note: there is shared parking on the forecourt for only one car. (Additional parking can be found down on the road at the bottom of the drive. ) Interaction with GuestsIf possible, I like to try & find out what time guests arrive so I can be sure to give them a welcome. Nothing like putting the kettle on & having a chat over a fresh cup of tea or coffee. Either that or guests can settle in first & I can always pop back later once you've relaxed & sorted yourselves out. Then you can sign the registration & as well as have a chat about the local visitor's attractions, places you may like to eat & orientate where you are with the local maps. If I'm not able to be there, we can arrange to give you the key & do the registration later. Generally, all guests have a follow up check after 24 hours that all's well. We live nearby in the main house, so you can always knock if you have any queries. Apart from that, we leave you in peace to enjoy your stay. The NeighborhoodThis is really a very tranquil and peaceful location. You can hear the birds amidst the peaceful garden which is laid mainly to lawn, bordered by trees & hedging amidst semi rural countryside. Lots of birdsong in the spring but also throughout the year. Plenty of squirrels too! Cam Cottage itself is situated in the old part of Hardwick beside the 14th century church of St Mary's. Opposite lies a field where lie the ruins of a former medieval monastery though the village origins go back to Roman times, evidenced by the many walnut trees and 'Roman drain' just along the Bin Brook. There are two houses in the street listed in William the Conquer's 'Doomsday Book' that date back to 1066. The nearby public footpaths were formally ancient Pilgrim's Ways. These can be freely explored to reveal vista views of Cambridge riding up to the east & some of the best sloe & blackberry bushes in the autumn. Added bonus: a convenient 2 minutes walk from the Blue Lion gastro pub which comes highly recommended by the local guides. There is also just behind St Mary's Church a well maintained public recreation area which has a set of swings. Getting AroundRegular Bus Service: x 3 hourly: 'Citi 4', 15 walk end of the village. * 'Whippet' Route 3: outside our drive, 20 mins direct to Bridge St, Cambridge City. This only goes once a day, however. Parking for one car and further parking in lay-by. Airport transfer by car/taxi (20 mins) to Cambridge Rail Station to London, King's Cross (55 mins fast train) connecting underground to Heathrow/Gatwick. London Airport Buses direct to Cambridge Bus Station or Madingley Park & Ride close & then taxi/car ride. Other Things to Note'Quality in Tourism' inspects Cam Cottage annually & has awarded 4**** - high standards. 'Visit Cambridge' has also inspected Cam Cottage & holds our listing.

The SpaceTHE ROOM I launched as an airbnb host on 12th August 2013. Between Cambridge and London, I have received over 100 bookings, with 38 nationalities and have been a guest several times. It has been a wonderful, life-changing experience! Thank you to everyone who has helped to make this such a successful experience. It is a 13 metre square room, it faces the street, with two sashes and a double-bed fitted with quality (Calvin Klein, Conran, John Lewis, Muji) cotton-sheets, pillows and different duvets for differing weather. It is tastefully decorated, has hanging space, a chair, desk and lamps. All the bathrooms on this street are on the ground floor. You are of course welcome to make yourself at home in the main kitchen-living-dining space. There is a dining table, a tv, i-pod docker, digital radio and printer. The kitchen is ideal if you would like to make yourself a tea or coffee. Bed-linen and towels are provided. You can also use the hairdryer and the washing machine in the utility room. There is wireless internet so that you can keep in touch with your family and friends. A vintage bicycle is available to borrow too! THE HOUSE It is an 18th century building with open, light-filled spaces, high ceilings, original features, a Danish, wood-burning stove and located in a conservation area. Mill Street is a typical, quaint, Cambridge street, with chimney pots, sash windows and bicycles. There are lots of places to eat and drink on the doorstep and others a short walk into the centre. There is a food market at the weekend in Cambridge's central square. Cambridge itself has everything to offer from punting to piano recitals, museums to markets, botanic gardens to bicycling. Guest AccessThe streets around the house have residential parking and some metered parking; this is £0.50 for 30 minutes, a maximum stay of 2 hours between 0900 and 1700 Mon-Fri. Visitor's permits are available for £2.00 per day on request. Interaction with GuestsA FINAL WORD I am a designer, an Architect and a dancer and generally live in the second room. I shall be away however, in Continental Europe for about 6 months from July to January hence me offering both rooms to let. I have decorated the spaces myself and hope that you will enjoy staying here. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Send me a message if your are interested in staying, with your travel dates and a little bit about yourself. Thanks, I look forwards to hearing from you! The NeighborhoodTHE LOCATION It is fantastic and according to a UK newspaper (March 2013) Mill Road is one of the coolest places to live in Britain. Described as having a “vibrant array of independent shops and a strong community spirit”, it came in at No.26 in the top 30 list! Getting AroundTRANSPORT The train and bus stations are 10 minutes walk and have connections to the international airports.

The Space**Please read entire description and house rules before booking** This is a very cute but small house that we call home in Central Cambridge. Built ~1905 the house retains many of its original features, including restored sash windows, creaky stairs and wonky doors! Wooden floors throughout. It is in a quiet cul de sac which in theory has on-street parking but which is a little more tricky in practice. We are offering a very comfortable sun filled double room (double bed is 200cm x 140cm), with lots of drawer and wardrobe space. Both the duvet and pillows are synthetic-so good for allergy sufferers. Wooden floors. Black-out blinds on the window. This room is NOT en-suite, but the bathroom (which is shared) is down the corridor with everything you would expect and has a very large and powerful shower (hot water 24hrs). Downstairs is a sitting room and office space. Embarrassingly large TV with freeview channels and streaming netflix and Amazon Prime. Wireless internet throughout the house. Kitchen diner with washing machine and small downstairs toilet. Open fire in the office. Guest AccessEverything other than the other bedrooms. Interaction with GuestsWe like to welcome our guests in person when they arrive, help with the bags and show you around the house and introduce you to the dog. We like to chat and get to know our guests-if you are looking for something more anonymous we respectfully suggest that a hotel might be a better option for you. While we love to chat, we do not intrude in your plans and space. The NeighborhoodThis listing is about a 5 minute walk from the beautiful Jesus Green, which itself is only 5-7 minutes from the HEART of historic Cambridge. Some pubs and restaurants are even closer than that-Restaurant 22, and The Old Spring pub (booking recommended) being especially nice right in our neighbourhood. We have maps that you can borrow and we are very happy to make recommendations for things to do and places to eat. The neighbourhood is very friendly, but it has a ramshackle look from the outside, due to some abandoned buildings at the top of the road. Don't be put off-it is very safe. There is free on street parking but it is in high demand, and can be difficult to find after 5pm. Getting AroundThe easiest way to navigate around Cambridge is either on foot or by bicycle. There are numerous places in Cambridge where bikes can be rented. There is a good rail and coach service from all the London airports to Cambridge. See the National Express website, and/or British Rail website for timetables. Other Things to NoteWe love having airbnb guests! But it is really important for all potential guests to realise that we are not a hotel or a B&B and don't pretend to be. You will be staying with a busy and sometime chaotic family in their home. Please consider this when you review us. With regard to breakfast, we are delighted to provide any breakfast you would like, but for the most part, you will have to prepare/help yourself. Without any notification we can provide tea, coffee, porridge (oats!), muesli, granola, yoghurt, eggs, toast. If there is something other than this you would like, do let us know a couple of days in advance of your arrival. We are also happy to cater for people with dietary restrictions. If you have any other special needs please just let us know. We don't watch a lot of TV, so it is not usually on, but please don't let this put you off! If you want to watch something in particular, or just veg on the couch, just let us know and we will show you how to turn it on-it's overly complicated! Finally, please be aware that there is a toddler in the house. We have hosted on airbnb since he was three weeks old. Previously, we have privately made all potential guests aware of this and as our reviews reflect, this has not caused our guests any disturbance or hassle. While we generally refuse requests to stay if he is going through a difficult patch, we cannot guarantee that he won't have a bad night during your stay with us. Therefore, please only request to book with us if you are willing to tolerate this possibility. Again, please take this into account when you are reviewing us.

The SpaceThis is an elegant and well-appointed Victorian terraced house in the heart of Cambridge. It is 75m from Jesus Green and 600m from Great Saint Mary's - the most central point of the city. It is a charming house with 1 double bedroom and 3 single bedrooms [two of which can be easily convert to twin rooms] and a double sofa bed in the drawing room. There is also a single guest bed in the snug. The well-proportioned first floor drawing room has an open fire. The house has been sympathetically restored within its original Victorian character, and a programme of refurbishment to ensure all modern comforts are available has just been completed. In addition to the drawing room, snug and bedrooms there is a dining room, a light, spacious and modern kitchen and two bathrooms. There is a gravelled/paved garden area for sitting out - there are tables and chairs for ten people. Street parking is available about 50m from the house, and there is a Local Authority car park just 175m away. There are shops very nearby. The house is warm and comfortable and enjoys a location second to none - this is in fact, the most central house available on any web site. Guest AccessThe whole house - three reception rooms. Two bathrooms and four bedrooms. Interaction with GuestsWe meet and greet the guests on arrival. The NeighborhoodIt is only 9 minutes walk from the city centre. But if you do want to take your car there are plenty of multistory car parks. We are not registered for VAT. We are no longer a pub .However, there are pubs around us which are 5 or 10 minute drives away. You can also take a rural walk to the pubs of LInton in around 30-35 minutes across the fields. Guest AccessYou can sit in the garden and parking is right outside the door to the cottage. Interaction with GuestsI live in the main house - just call me on my cell phone if you need anything. The SpaceAn attractive double bedroom (approx 3.4m x 3.3m) on the ground floor of the property including a high quality, pocketed Vi-Spring divan bed (medium springing), original slate fireplace, stripped pine flooring, and persian rugs (note: I also have a single bedroom at the same property) Guest AccessGuests have full access to the sitting room, breakfast room, kitchen and patio garden. The room is not en-suite. The property is occupied by me and a long term lodger (a junior doctor in her final year at Cambridge University). There will sometimes be one additional guest. I will always do my best to provide full information on occupancy when you first get in touch. Interaction with GuestsThe Airbnb questionnaire asks about "guest Interaction". Well, I'm happy to chat away over a cup of tea / glass of wine and am equally happy to leave you to yourself. The NeighborhoodGlisson Road is an attractive residential street in the heart of the city - yet despite its close proximity to the historic centre and colleges, is also very quiet. Most of the houses (mine included) were built in the early Edwardian era - about one hundred and ten years ago. The medieval centre and university colleges are a short ten minute stroll across Parkers Piece (one of Cambridge's many inner city parks). Cosmopolitan Mill Road, with its independent cafes, bars and restaurants, is just around the corner. The train station, with frequent services into London, is also ten minutes walk away Getting AroundBeing so close to the centre means you can walk everywhere. Additionally, there are numerous bike hire companies close by. There's plenty of room at the front of the house to lock a bike while you are here. Other Things to NoteA "help yourself" continental breakfast - cereal, toast, jams, tea/coffee - is provided. If you are here for only a night or two, I'd rather the kitchen not be used to prepare cooked meals - but you are welcome to use the kettle to make tea/coffee during your stay. Prospective long-term guests please note: if you are planning to stay more than 28 nights, breakfast is not included (most long term guests prefer to do their own thing anyway). For long-term guests staying up to six weeks, i will provide clean towels and pillow cases weekly, clean bed linen every two weeks. Guests staying over six weeks are generally expected to do their own bed linen/towel laundry and provide their own washing liquid. When the weather is fine, i encourage guests to dry linen and clothes on the line in the back garden.
