‘The Arches’ is self catering holiday accommodation in Devon. The let is situated just off the beautiful Taw Valley in the green rolling hills of central Devon. The luxury accommodation is a former barn and is believed to be built at a similar time to the main house, (Nethercott) and original farm buildings. ‘Nethercott’ falls on what was the Portsmouth Estate and was built by the Earl of Portsmouth in 1862. In 2010 the conversion of ‘The Arches’ began and the building itself was completed in Mid-2012 (although development to the grounds and gardens continues). A local architect and builder were employed for the design and construction and wherever possible local materials have been used. Construction is of stone, oak and slate and the exterior retains its traditional character and appealing brick arches. Despite being double glazed all doors and windows are custom made from solid oak to match the charm of the original building. The interior of the houses retains this style but also with the inclusion of modern materials, (stainless and glass) giving a ‘twist’ of new and old. The open plan, upside down, layout is exceptionally spacious providing 2 self-contained exceptionally large lets for large families or groups. The dwelling is a quiet retreat away from the hassle of the city and is conveniently situated for countryside activities. If you require a luxury stay then forget damp caravans or pokey wooden huts in packed campsites and stay at a location of true quality. To make your stay the most enjoyable much care was taken during construction. We have concentrated our utmost to provide accommodation of the highest standard and have included small improvements such as wall soundproofing, light blocking curtains, low temp central heating and network connections to all rooms as standard. The let has 3 bedrooms, with either king or super-king beds, (we can supply little beds for little people) with 100% cotton bed linen (and towels in bathrooms). All rooms have luxury extra deep pile carpets, solid oak furniture and 22” HDTV. In addition to the main large bath/shower rooms 2 of the master bedrooms also have their own en-suite wet room c/w high volume power showers. For larger groups, further to the bedrooms, each has 2 sofa beds providing total sleeping capacity of 6 – 10. Upstairs, the conversion has its own fully fitted kitchen with hob, oven, microwave, fridge freezer, toaster etc and is very open/spacious in design, (being 45’ approx. long). The dining/lounge areas have 50” plasma TV and surround entertainment system. The lounge/dining area have leather seating for all guest and solid oak dining tables, (the largest of which will cater for up to 18 should you have friends visiting). 'The Arches' is perfectly located for walking and outdoor pursuits in the beautiful Devon countryside. There are several pubs in the local villages, shops , restaurants and a Gold course at Chulmleigh. There are some Horse Riding Stables in Chulmleigh, (Boldtry) where lessons may be taken or a Quad Bike experience at Yarnsacombe nr Barnstaple. ‘The Arches’ is self catering holiday luxury accommodation in Devon. The lets are situated just off the beautiful Taw Valley in the green rolling hills of central Devon. The Stone Barn Conversion Sleeps 6-10 and is luxuriously finished in Oak, Slate, Stainless and Leather.

In summary our holiday cottage offers you a private hot tub and garden within the stunning setting of our farm and trout fishery. It is the perfect base for walking, cycling and exploring this beautiful part of Devon. Pets and families are welcome. The cottage sleeps 4 and it has had great reviews; a warm welcome, free home produce and a fly fishing taster awaits! With a large private garden and wood fired hot tub your stay at Bellbrook Fishery is guaranteed to be a relaxing one. Bellbrook Cottage, part of which is made from cob and dates back to the 16th century, has been newly decorated and furnished in a warm country style and is all on one level. There are two generous bedrooms that can either be made up as twins or super kings, a bathroom with large shower and an open plan living area with a well equipped kitchen. There is Sky TV, internet access, two comfortable sofas and a selection of games and books for those wet weather days! The cottage forms an annex attached to the owner's farm house and is set down a quiet country lane. It is one of two holiday properties and forms part of a working Trout Fishery and small holding covering 40 acres and boasting seven lakes. The large, private garden is very secure for pets and children and, as well as having a lawned area, boasts several areas dedicated to the natural flora such as bluebells, hellebore and primroses. The hot tub is situated on the patio area, seats 6 and can be heated ready for you to use on your arrival. Robes are also provided for your comfort. The hot tub is wood fired with an air bubble system and is very quiet; the soothing crackle of the wood in the stove and the natural scent will only make the atmosphere around, and in, your wooden hot tub even more special. We aim to make your stay as enjoyable as possible and to this end we have provided little luxuries such as Duck Island toiletries and homemade produce, as well as everyday essentials from salt and pepper to cling film. Complementary tea, coffee and sugar are provided and you are welcomed with our own free range eggs and a homemade loaf! Dogs and children are most welcome and a travel cot and high chair are available free of charge. We also aim to be as eco-friendly as possible and most of the electricity and heating are provided by solar panels and a biomass boiler. In keeping with these intentions the hot tub is wood fired and therefore only takes 2-3 hours to heat in comparison to electric ones which take 4-6 hours. Here on the farm we breed our own rare breed sheep and at the right time of year our fields are full of lambs. We also have a pair of pet pygmy goats who love a cuddle! There are many beautiful walks right on our doorstep and of course there are the grounds of the fishery to explore. Bellbrook is also an ideal base for walking, riding, cycling or trying your hand at fly fishing. Included in your booking is an introductory lesson to casting for your group which lasts approximately 20 minutes. If you enjoy the experience we have a lake suitable for beginners and children and rod hire is available. We are easily accessed from the A361 - the M5 is only 15 minutes away. The local villages of Oakford and Bampton have welcoming pubs with local ales and good food. The nearest pub is 1.5 miles away. There are also two excellent restaurants nearby. Local shops and supermarkets can be found in Tiverton which is 10 minutes drive – there is also a regular pannier market with tempting local produce. We are close to the historic market town of Dulverton which is known as the gateway to Exmoor National Park and is a must for the cream teas! Please note there is a small charge for each additional pet and a refundable deposit is payable on arrival. Please phone or email to book, or if you have any questions. We look forward to welcoming you to Bellbrook! Tiverton is the nearest well known town and is 8 miles away. The very characterful market towns of Bampton (5.5 miles) and South Molton (14 miles) are both worth a visit while the tea rooms in Dulverton (6 miles) are essential. We are also blessed with some wonderful country pubs that serve excellent food - too many to mention but starting at 2 miles away. Further Details: As well as all the nature and fresh air we provide on site, we are located in what is known as the Exmoor fringe. Many people visit the area to walk the moor and take in the views - it is still a truly wild area. It is also well known for star gazing and Exmoor National Park was recently designated the first International Dark Sky Reserve in Europe.

Balebarn Eco Lodge was the main reason Wheatland Farm won the Gold award for Sustainable Tourism from VisitEngland in 2015. It is a gloriously welcoming low impact dwelling, fashioned from straw bales and many upcycled materials. But don't think it's hippy or basic - it's cool, stylish and luxurious. Enormous bi-fold windows open onto the veranda and give you a fabulous view out over a large pond (take the boat out for a spin...). You'll love the quirky detail, like the microwave turntable portholes in the bathroom and the coronation mug downlighters. There are 4 bedrooms: a master bedroom with a 5ft bed, a smaller room with a double, a twin room and a room with ultra-sturdy bunks (not just for kids). There's a large family bathroom and also a wetroom shower (with loo). Everything is on level access, with a ramp to the door and veranda. So it's suitable for mixed generations holidaying together (and the owners are more than happy to help with any access needs). Adventurers of all ages can borrow free bikes, explore 21 acres managed for wildlife, and the bravest can take a swim in the wildlife pond. There's BBQ facilities, play equipment, hens, cows to visit (in the summer), and a small fishing pond (large lakes are nearby too). But if you want to curl up with a book by the wood burner you'll still have a wonderful view. Balebarn Lodge's kitchen has an oven and a microwave/combi oven, a fridge freezer, dishwasher, and induction hob. There's a washing machine just across the way. Grocery deliveries can be arranged, there are lots of pubs with good food nearby, or you can even order in a chef to cook for you. You certainly don't need to be an eco warrior to stay in Balebarn Lodge, but if it's a green holiday you're after, this is particularly right for you. Wheatland Farm has twice won England's top award for sustainable tourism (2012 and again in 2015). All your power is green, the lodge draws from a wind turbine and also has its own solar panels. Ian is always delighted to talk sustainable building techniques, but we won't bore you if you're not interested. Wheatland Farm has a 7 acre nationally-recognised nature reserve (a Site of Special Scientific Interest) and your stay helps make managing the whole farm for wildlife viable. Keep a look out at dusk, or dawn if you're still up, and you might see a ghostly barnowl hunting. They've even been known to perch on the veranda. Winkleigh, in the middle of Devon, is ‘proper English countryside’. In summer the fields are full of old fashioned stooks of wheat (now grown for thatching). In autumn there's the renown display at the Sticklepath Fireshow, and nearby Hatherleigh holds its festival, complete with flaming tar barrels. Come winter, there’s wassailing in the orchards and crackling fires. Come spring again and orchids bloom among the hedgerow flowers. Explore the Devon countryside described so beautifully in the famous book Tarka the Otter, perhaps by cycling or walking the nearby Tarka Trail. Or visit the town of Torrington, site of the last major battle of the English civil war in the south west. You can experience a re-enactment at Torrington 1646 - complete with musket firing! If that's too dramatic, relax at RHS Rosemoor gardens or seek out live music and art at the Plough Arts Centre in Torrington. Or how about a real Devon cream tea and just put your feet up? This top-award-winning Devon eco lodge sleeps 8 in luxury and style. FIsh, borrow bikes, take the boat on the pond, explore the nature reserve or curl up by the woodburner. Balebarn Lodge is suitable for mixed generations, including guests with restricted mobility.
