The SpaceThe hazel branches are staked deep into the ground, bent over then carefully weaved together to make a dome. The dome has then been covered in hessian, blankets and recycled tarps. There is not one nail used in the hazel and the floor has been made from old pallets, broken up, perfectly fitted, sanded and waxed to complete the a natural yet luxurious finish. Unassuming from the outside it is truly magical when you step inside. Hazel has many wonderful properties and you can be guaranteed a great sleep under the network of interlocking branches that make up what we think is the most beautiful structure in Norfolk...and possibly the only rentable, 2 storey bender in the world (let us know if you know different!) It's a large, peaceful communal space and although it is made up of branches and timber it's got an incredibly soft, comfortable and warm atmosphere, which we believe comes from it's natural, organic shape. It is perfect for a family get together, group gatherings and even acoustic music performances. Guest AccessThe Wren's Nest is the feature element of The Fire Pit camping meadow, your friends can pitch their tent along side you for a festival style get together. Or may be with our campers, we are small, boutique and have no pets or motors onsite. We do have a retro double decker bus to play on, a wicked little cafe and natural playing fields, mud kitchen and sports pitch. We don't have running water or electric in the Nest, but it does have solar lighting and a phone charger. Washing up, shower and water are in the old goat shed, which have been luxuriously transformed. Interaction with GuestsWe camp on site in summer and manage the little pod cafe/bar too.

The SpaceThe most striking thing about the location is the Iron Age Round House, built in the traditional methods (but not all traditional materials!) set amongst living willow fences with a camp fire at its heart. Next to this is the yurt with the wood burning stove and bureau. There is gas cooking facilities in the Roundhouse and a large solar panel provides the electricity needs for running small items such as lighting and laptops, phone chargers etc. Guest AccessToilets are basic - there are two eco friendly compost toilets. Hot Shower facilities are now available. There is running water on an outdoor sink but this has cold water only. If you are missing the internet (!), there is great signal for most providers at the farm via 3G. Wood is provided for the stove in the yurt or a camp fire. Please bring your own bedding and towels. Interaction with GuestsWe stay in the farm house down the field, which is some way away from the Round House meadow. We will be available but probably wont see each other unless coming and going from the site. If you need some help, just give us a call on the number provided. The NeighborhoodThe walks around this part of Rural Norfolk are beautiful. There is significant history to be found as Norfolk, and especially around here, Saxon Round Tower churches are common. Nearby Mattishall is also where the Mattishall Horde was discovered. Norwich is just 12 miles away and boasts an amazing Norman Castle and of course, Norwich Cathedral plus much much more. Getting AroundThere is ample parking onsite. The nearest bus stop is in Mattishall and is 1.6 miles away, about a 30 minute walk. The nearest train station is Wymondham (about 8 miles away) although there is a steam train that goes to Thuxton during summer months!

The Wren's Nest, is a beautiful natural bender tent and has been hand made by Matt Wade (partner here at The Fire Pit) using locally harvested Hazel branches. Unassuming from the outside it is truly magical when you step inside. Hazel has many wonderful properties and you can be guaranteed a great sleep under the network of interlocking branches that make up what we think is the most stunning structure in Norfolk...and possibly the only rentable, 2 storey bender in the world (let us know if you know different!) There is not one nail used in the hazel and the floor has been made from old pallets, broken up, perfectly fitted, sanded and waxed to complete the luxury feel. The Wren's Nest sleeps 6-8 people (children very welcome and they normally find the magical space like something out of a wizard film!) and it has a wood-burning fire, kitchen area, cosy seating and outside bbq. On the ground floor is a triple bunk bed (double and single over head) and the new mezzanine bedroom has a double size mattress and a single, there is a pull out sofa bed for another 2 guests. Any other guests joining you can camp and pitch their own along side The Wren's Nest for a complete festival feel as we have 10 pitch spaces or you can privately hire our whole site. Please note that we do not allow pets, naked flames or disposable bbqs - we do have a communal fire pit you can use and also our own bbq for outdoor use. We sell wood for the woodburner and have luxury hot water facilities, a natural play area and a double decker bus! Our gourmet coffee bar is coming this spring too! 2015 prices ÂŁ130 for up to 4 people and ÂŁ170 for up to 8. Please feel free to ask any questions or come for a visit! We look forward to hearing from you. Unassuming from the outside The Wren's Nest is truly magical when you step inside, a dome structure weaved out of hazel branches then tented, luxury glamping at it's best in Norfolk.

The cottage is one of the most wonderful places we have ever stayed. It was warm and welcoming and is well equipped. The pub down the road is a must try as the food was lovely, but equally would recommend just sitting around the cottage and garden for a day to take in the beauty. Hidden away in lush meadows surrounding Park Farm, our campsite offers a safe and peaceful base from which to explore Norfolk The campsite is simple and no frills but has modern facilities, masses of space and allows campfires. There is also free fishing on the banks of the river Wensum which is on the edge of the farm estate. For families this is an excellent venue, with a huge amount of space even in the summer - great for kids to enjoy a game of football or to play. Also for the children there are swings in the play area including the very popular zip wire, also there is small wood to explore where we encourage children to build dens and hideaways. In the nearby village there is an excellent pub, butchers, deli and The Village Store (with Post Office). The area also enjoys many footpaths and quiet lanes which offer enjoyable routes for walking or cycling around the Wensum valley. Our central Norfolk location makes this campsite a great base for visiting many of Norfolk's top attractions. The amazing coastline is only about 45 minutes away - choose a different beach each day and experience the huge variety - seals, sand, dunes, spits, salt marshes... the Norfolk Coast has it all. Also within easy reach is Norwich - one of the best cities in the country for shopping and packed with history and sights. The Norfolk Broads and Sandringham are not too far either. Quite peaceful farm location
