The SpaceMagic Cottage is a pretty wooden cabin set in the peaceful walled garden of our 16th Century stable block house.
Our lovely 5m bell tent set up next to the cabin, offers a very special glamping experience. The cabin provides all the facilities and the tent provides an extra room.
The cabin and the tent together can be used to sleep four people very comfortably. And as both can be made up as singles or doubles, the combinations are many. Just right for families, friends or couples to spend a peaceful, relaxing time together.
The cabin can be made up with a very comfy super kingsize bed or twins, and the tent as a double with a single futon if required. Do let us know which
The cabin catches the morning sun, so it's lovely to open up the doors and let the light flood in to the sofa and chairs inside, or sit outside on the decking and enjoy the sunshine.
Magic Cottage has a seating area with sofa, coffee table and TV with Freeview. It has a microwave, fridge, kettle, toaster and sink in the kitchen area and a barbeque on the deck but no full cooking facilities. So you can keep some wine and nibbles cool in the fridge, put together a picnic, warm up a ready meal, cook up a barbeque, or make toast or cereal for breakfast, but not rustle up a slap up meal.
It also has an en suite shower room, and toilet.
The tent has it's own chill out area with beanbags, and shares the other facilities with the cabin.
The cabin is built from recycled materials and everything we do follows an eco philosophy.
The essentials are there for when you arrive - tea, coffee, sugar, milk for a cuppa, and oil, salt and pepper for cooking.
We don't provide breakfast, but there is a good little shop under 10 minutes' walk or two minutes' drive away open from 7am til 11pm. It's a Co-op with with fresh fruit and veg, meat, wine, beer and most things you could need for your stay. Even fresh croissants baked on-site every morning, which you can bring back warm from the oven.
There are Chineese and Indian takeaways that deliver, and fish and chip shops to eat on the deck or take to the beach.
There are also a couple of good pubs nearby, and some excellent cafes (we are coffee feinds, and can point you in the right direction for the best coffee).
You can also drive along the seafront to Gosport and catch the ferry to Portsmouth where you can visit the HMS Victory, HMS Warrior and the Mary Rose at the Historic Naval Dockyard and museums, or visit Gunwharf Quays with restaurants, bars, cinemas, bowling and outlet shopping. Much better than driving into Portsmouth, and more of an 'adventure'.
We also run a kitesurfing school, so this is the perfect place to come and stay for a kitesurfing break or course.
We have a portacot available for little ones, or we can make up a single fouton bed if they are too big for that.
Please note that we spend the UK winter in New Zealand (see our other listings!). Our neighbours manage Magic Cottage for us, so it is still available to the same high standard. However, it may mean that I can't answer questions or enquiries during the UK daytime, as I will be in NZ asleep! I will get back to you when I wake up (UK evening time). So please don't think I am ignoring you, or that Magic Cottage is unavailable. Of course, you can still book in the normal way over airbnb, and I will accept your booking when I come online.
I hope you can come and stay!
Zoe Guest AccessYou will walk through our garden to reach the cabin and tent, and we use the garden behind the tent. We have screened off an area of garden to give a private area for the cabin and tent to enjoy. Interaction with GuestsWe leave the cabin ready for you to move into with the key in the door, to make yourselves at home. We will say hi if we are around, but will leave you to enjoy the privacy of your own space, unless you need us. We are around most of the time in our house on the other side of the garden, so are available for any information or advice regarding the cabin or the area. It's nice to chat and get to know our guests if you would like to, and we have been known to share a bottle of wine or two out in the garden on lovely sunny nights. The NeighborhoodWe are tucked away down a long private driveway, and the cabin is tucked away behind us. You have a lovely walled garden in front and fields over the other side of the wall. There are houses over the wall behind the cabin, but you wouldn't know they were there. Very private and quiet, though close to shops, cafes and transport links. Getting AroundBuses stop 100m away from the end of our private drive, taking you to Fareham (mid sized town with train and bus station), Southampton (city with airport, stations and ferries to Isle of Wight and France) and Portsmouth (city with stations and ferries to Isle of Wight and France).
Private parking space.
