The SpaceThis classic barn conversion is set in a charming old Norfolk village and is built of traditional flint and brick materials with a pan-tile roof. Tastefully converted to an East Anglian architect's design, it provides a comfortable , relaxing and quiet setting in which to relax in the country. Dogs are particularly welcome and there are a full range of local walks ( despite us being in Catfield). Guest AccessGuests will have exclusive use of the cottage and access to the garden at the owner's discretion. Interaction with GuestsWe are a friendly couple and have travelled ourselves a lot. However, if you want to be left alone , we oblige, but you can always ask us any questions ( we live in the house on site/across the drive). The NeighborhoodCatfield is a friendly Norfolk village near to several market towns and within easy reach of the North Sea beaches where we 'warden' an increasing population of grey seals who haul out on our beaches to have their pups ( over 700 this years). This National Park status area of the Norfolk Broads has lots of nature sites ( SSSIs , bird and butterfly reserves etc.,), walks for dogs and hikers and lots of water to sail, launch, canoe etc. on. It is also great for bicycling and we have several hire companies within easy reach or who deliver a bike right to your door ( pre-booking essential).Boat hire is also available locally. As a thriving tourist area, we also have lots of friendly public houses with meals, real ales and excellent hosts. (Many are dog-friendly!) Museums, country parks, activity centres and heaps of fun places to visit make this a very precious are for us... and for YOU to visit! Getting AroundThe nearest railway station is at Hoveton and Wroxham on the Bittern line from Norwich but you would need to pre-book a taxi to get to us. Local busses run from Norwich to Stalham via Ludham and Catfield and there is also a bus service to Great Yarmouth, another great holiday destination, past and present ( and there is a train service from there to Norwich as well). Norwich Railway Station serves London ( in under 2 hours) and also goes to Cambridge and further afield, of course. Other Things to NoteWIFI in the barn but a poorish area re. speeds etc. We live in a working farming community that provides local employment to a range of people as well. We have a local village shop, a nearby market town with a range of shops and a supermarket, and an excellent pub in the village. One of our star local attractions is the seal colony at Horsey Gap where we are volunteer Seal Wardens- 800+ pups born locally this season! We have a female working Collie dog called 'Bailey' and two mini Shetland ponies (father and son) and a country garden ( accessible to guests after discussion with us please)

Home from Home 200 metres from the beach This really is a “home from home”, as it is our own home for much of the year. We have tried to create a “boutique hotel” feel for guests staying in the house, and avoid the holiday home feel. We also provide a free welcome pack for guests, including tea and coffee for when you arrive, plus a bottle of wine for later. The house is a three bedroom detached bungalow with its own private enclosed garden, ideal for children and dogs. It is situated in a quiet road on the outskirts of Caister, within 200 metres of the wide sandy beach, and it comfortably sleeps 5 adults. Each of the three good sized bedrooms has a different colour theme, with the main bedroom featuring a beautiful antique, carved mahogany double bed with electric adjustment, together with matching bedside tables, wardrobe and marble topped washstand. It also has the luxury of a wide screen television. The “red bedroom” in contrast is a bright modern room with white furniture and red accents, whilst the “purple” room has a small double bed and a distinct “retro” theme (see the pictures). The living room is very comfortably furnished with a mix of Ercol and “retro” English furniture, and has a wide screen, ”freeview” TV and free WiFi throughout. The kitchen is fully equipped with ceramic hob, fan oven, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine, and the newly installed bathroom has a bath with shower over, basin and toilet, and there is a condensing tumble drier just outside the bathroom. There are no extra costs for bed linen or towels, but beach towels are not supplied. The house has gas fired central heating (included in the price) for those cooler evenings, and a private fenced off garden with a patio, lawn with a garden table with chairs, and a small barbecue for “al fresco” meals or just relaxing in the sun. There is parking on the property, as well as safe parking on the road outside.

We are a family run company who currently own two holiday chalets in Norfolk. We've always found it difficult to find a suitable holiday chalet in Norfolk where we can bring our dogs and therefore we wanted to be able to offer this service when we looked at buying a chalet. Because of this we have carefully chosen two very pet friendly holiday parks where dogs are welcomed on leads at the park and nearby beach. We understand that most of the car is full of bedding, inflatables and baby 'bits' when you go on holiday, so we have tried to allow for more clothing and necessities space by including linen, towels, travel cots , high chairs and games within our prices. Our Two Bedroom Chalet is semi-detached with parking at the rear of the property. A large open grass area is at the front of the property which is fantastic to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine on a lazy day! Behind the chalet, the club house and small childrens play area are perfect for family days on sight. Offering cheap drinks, great food and an a games room too! Our modern kitchen is fully equipped with all the pots, pans, cutlery and crockery you could need! Our warm and cosy living room has plenty of space for family time. There is a LED flat screen TV with freeview and DVD player attached to the wall for your entertainment. A fold-able table and chairs is also in the living room, creating floor space for young ones to play whilst offering plenty of room at the table once easily assembled. Large window allowing lots of natural light giving the room a bright and airy feeling. Our double bed room is relaxing and cosy offering plenty of storage with the built in double wardrobe and tall chest of drawers. Plenty of coat hangers are supplied to avoid those unwanted creases! Our bunk bed room is perfect for the children, offering a built in double wardrobe for extra space. There is enough room in here for a single put up bed or travel cot. Our 3 piece bathroom suite is fully equipped with bath towels, hand towels and flannels freshly laundered for each new visiting party. An electric overhead shower is brilliant after a long day at the beach! ONSITE : There is an on site mini market, amusement arcade, launderette and fish and chip shop. There is also a hire shop providing bedding, wheelchairs, bikes etc. The Oasis Club is an inviting place to relax. Throughout the season, varied entertainment is provided each night with children's entertainers, comedy and cabaret, disco and karaoke and (email: hidden) music. Also close by is the indoor heated pool. IN WALKING DISTANCE: Just a two minute walk away you will find the local sandy beach, dogs and fishing are allowed and a public house which puts on (email: hidden) music at the weekend throughout the year. There are family friendly pubs nearby within walking distance, which offer full range of food and entertainment. CLOSE BY: Great Yarmouth Great Yarmouth itself has bright lights, two piers, countless attractions and golden beaches of the softest sand. The most obvious attractions lie along the 'Golden Mile' the town's promenade. Here you'll find the Pleasure Beach, home of one of the UK's most famous rollercoaster rides and the log flume. Other rides here are The Haunted Hotel, Fun House and Sky Drop. Also on the seafront is the Amazonian World of Reptiles, The Merrivale Model Village and Railway, and Joyland - an affordable funfair for younger children, complete with its much-loved snail ride. Take a stroll along the Britannia Pier where you'll find places to eat and drink, more attractions for the kids and a great theatre that always has a programme of family entertainment featuring well-known stars.Other attractions are the Hippodrome Circus, mini-golf, a bustling market, great shopping and racecourse. An astounding array of amusements is matched only by the many restaurants, cafes and bars. All of this only 5 miles away. Caister Castle Definitely worth a visit if you're keen on heritage. Built in 1432, the tower is largely intact. The unusual thing about this place though is the motor museum within the grounds - this is the UK's largest private collection of motor cars. The veteran, vintage, classic and touring cars and motorcycles date back from the 1890s right through to the present day. Between Yarmouth and Lowestoft is the well-known theme park of Pleasurewood Hills. Here there are thrilling rides as well as more sedate attractions for younger children. The city of Norwich is the place to go if you fancy a day's shopping. Castle Mall, Anglia Square and the recently opened Chapelfields are starting points for serious shoppers. Norwich is a historic city too, and no visit would be complete without a look around the Castle Museum.

The 'Little House on the River' is a riverside holiday cottage, situated right on the bank of the River Thurne, just five minutes' walk from the ancient arched bridge at Potter Heigham. Situated in the heart of the Norfolk Broads, you will find a riverside pub, takeaway restaurant, shops, including fishing tackle, and boat hire. It is ideal for fishing, boating or a relaxing break. The village of Potter Heigham with its beautiful thatched, round tower church, post office and antique shop is a short walk away. The Norfolk coast, and blue flag beaches, including Sea Palling and Winterton, and the lively resort of Great Yarmouth, are 20 mins. by car with the historic city of Norwich 30 minutes away. There are many characterful pub/restaurants to be explored nearby. The cottage's location is peaceful and idyllic, with uninterrupted views over the river to the water meadows beyond. While away your time sitting on the sun deck watching sailing boats and cruisers go by, or enjoy the sunset over the water meadows. Children can play in the treehouse (under parental supervision). Fish directly from the garden, with its 60 ft key-headed river frontage. Hire a boat, for the day or the week, to explore the rest of the Norfolk Broads, or bring your own, and moor it in the mooring dock. Have fun feeding the ducks and swans from the garden or go birdwatching across the marshes. The Hickling nature reserve, famous for swallowtail butterflies, is nearby. Take the Weavers' Way footpath from right behind the house or enjoy a network of other walks and cycle rides. There are a number of historic houses and gardens within easy reach. All rooms in the house face south over the river. The spacious sitting room has large double doors which open right onto the river frontage and the sun deck. This is furnished with a table and chairs to enable you to dine al fresco. There is a log effect fire for cooler evenings. There is a large porch for storing outerwear and an outside WC, especially useful when fishing. A secure fisherman's hut with bait fridge (which doubles as a cycle store) completes the picture. The cottage is 400 metres along the towpath, accessable on foot or cycle (also mobility scooter). A free private parking space is provided. 10% deposit required on booking with the balance to be paid no later than 6 weeks before the holiday start date. Full payment at time of booking for holidays within six weeks. Up to two well behaved pets welcome - ÂŁ15 per pet. Potter Heigham is one of the major boating centres on the Norfolk Broads, with many boating holidays or day trips starting from here. The medieval bridge gives access to the Upper Thurne, Hickling Broad and Horsey Mere, but only for smaller craft; larger boats, if they can get through at all, have to wait for low tide and seek the help of a bridge pilot! This makes the upper reaches beyond the bridge, where the Little House is situated, quieter than some parts of the river. The Broadshaven Tavern is situated near the medieval bridge, with its garden overlooking the river. There is another pub called the Falgate on the road to Ludham. There are two cafes where you can sit outside in the summer, a fish and chip shop, a takeaway and a gift shop/newsagent. To many, shopping in Potter Heigham means one thing - Lathams, a famous Norfolk discount store! They stock items from clothes, toys, household and pet items and even a have garden centre. There is also a very well stocked fishing tackle store with everything you might need for your fishing. The Weavers Way passes through Potter Heigham and is a good place to join the network of paths in the area. Along the path you will find bungalows, unique in that they are about the only place on the Norfolk Broads where the Broads Authority has allowed building directly on the riverbank. They are only accessible by the footpath behind or by boat. The Little House on the River is one of these. Traditional waterside holiday bungalow on River Thurne at Potter Heigham, Norfolk Broads. 60 ft river frontage, own mooring, sun deck. Fishing, boating, walking, birdwatching. Views over river and water meadows. Blue flag beaches, historic city of Norwich nearby.

This is a quaint and cosy traditional thatched cottage with log burning stove and loads of character. It is more than 300 years old, is Grade 2 listed, has many quaint features such as a traditional Norfolk inglenook fireplace. It is on the edge of a conservation area and is opposite the medieval parish church which can be seen from the principal bedroom window. It is within a mile of the Norfolk Broads, and is ideally located for visits to and walks around the Broads. It is three miles from the sandy beaches at Winterton. It is well pocated for visits to all the attractions in the Broads area. £100 deposit with booking. Balance is due 6 weeks before arrival. All payments received are non-returnable. Martham is a large village in the county of Norfolk, England and lies within the Broads National Park. It is situated some 10 miles north-west of the town of Great Yarmouth and 16 miles north-east of the city of Norwich. Martham has become increasingly popular over the years due to its parish church, St Mary’s, which has been dubbed the 'Cathedral of the Fleggs'. It is the biggest and grandest church for miles around, and offers spectacular views from the tower. St Mary's most magnificent treasure is the collection of medieval glass in the east windows of the south and north aisles. These are visible from the principal bedroom window of the cottage, although you need to get closer to see the detail! They consist of a series of more than twenty panels of individual saints and scenes, and it would seem part of a much larger sequence originally. Much of it is good glass of the 15th century Norwich school. Just over a mile to the north of Martham is Martham Broad, a 140 acre nature reserve that is managed by the Norfolk Naturalist Trust. The broad is very shallow and boats are limited to a narrow marked channel. The broad is less polluted than others and so is extremely rich in aquatic life. Birds of all types can be spotted and during the months of June and July the Swallowtail butterfly may be seen near its favourite food, Milk Parsley. Just a few miles away are the nature reserves of Hickling and Horsey where the Bittern, one of England's rarest and most secretive of birds can be seen. Despite being a relatively large village by Norfolk standards, Martham still retains its traditional charm with its large village green surrounded by attractive Georgian houses, with many of Martham's cottages thatched with Norfolk reed from the nearby marshes. Located a short distance away are the popular Norfolk Broads offers boating, beautiful scenery and wildlife. The sea-side village of Winterton-on-Sea is less than three miles away. Martham has a range of local shops including two Co-Ops, a baker's, a post office, a butcher's, a chinese takeaway and a thatched fish and chip shop.

Dating back to 1810 in the oldest part, Ivy Cottage is cosy with plenty of character. Through the entrance porch is the living room with open fire, and beyond that the kitchen/dining room with inglenook and wood-burning stove. A door from the kitchen leads into the garden, with patio area near the house, lawn, and a well-equipped summer house (and 'Wendy House' for youngsters). The bathroom has a traditional Victorian suite with a roll top bath (it is worth noting that the bath is not very large, and taller guests may need to watch their heads as they move around the beamed cottage) The bathroom does not have a stand-up shower. The water pressure is not very high as the water tank is at ground floor level. The bath/shower is the one thing in the cottage that we hope to upgrade in the next couple of years, but for the moment I am afraid it is rather basic. Stairs lead to two spacious bedrooms, one with a double bed and the second with twin beds. Wi-fi broadband. Storage heaters. There is off-road parking on the driveway. Ivy Cottage is located just a few minutes walk from the well-known 'Potter Heigham bridge' on the River Thurne, from where one can hire a boat to get access to this part of the Norfolk Broads. A short drive takes one to Winterton and other coastal villages. Sandy beaches flanked with dunes. Seals can be regularly seen along this stretch of coast. From Ivy Cottage one is able to explore the East Norfolk coast which is just a few miles away, and also the Norfolk Broads. These are ideally enjoyed from the water, and there are plenty of local companies that will hire boats by the day or week. You will find some details in the cottage. Ivy Cottage is cosy and full of character. Beamed rooms, open fire and wood-burning stove, garden with summer-house. Short walk from Potter Heigham Bridge and the Broads, and close to beaches with sand-dunes. Flexible stays possible on contacting owner
