The Cecil family of Hatfield House have been closely linked to the town since the 17th Century. We are in Town Centre location.The town has many trendy and antique shops, restaurants, bars, several old English pubs, a brewery, a museum, and a number of riverside walks. Hartham park provides sport facilities with running tracks, tennis, swimming pool and indoor Gym. Nuffield Fitness & Wellbeing centre offers Spa facilities . Hertford also boasts 2 railway stations offer regular services to London Liverpool Street and Moorgate in 45 minutes. We are close to A1, A10, M25, M1 . Open access parkland lies to the east, and farmed fields to the south with a network of public and permissive footpaths. The town lies 15-20 nins walk to the North, and has a good selection of bars and restaurants as well as a few small shops mainly clothing, and an (over)abundance of hairdressers and nail bars. Getting AroundHertford boasts 2 mainline railway stations accessing London, and local bus services. No bus service to house, but the exercise will do you good ;-). Parking on drive and / or on street outside. Rail / bus connections to Stansted, but most people use a taxi part way, then train for last section, or a taxi all the way (about (£40) Other Things to NoteCamping and Caravan club site is nearby.                 The SpaceIt is a spacious one bedroom ground floor flat, with a lounge, kitchen and bathroom. The kitchen has everything one would expect such as microwave, hob, fridge, coffee pot, pans etc. Sheets and bath towels are provided. I have registered the listing as not having breakfast included as it can be difficult for me to plan for guests as I am away for several days at a time. Yet you are more than welcome to help yourself to the food that is in the house, most likely cereal, eggs, bread, jams etc. There is a spacious lounge with a sofa, armchair and a large desk. There is not a TV, but there is WiFi is your bring your own laptop. The flat has one double bed, thus two people can sleep there. I also have a thin mattress that I have used for when my family come to stay. Thus this is available for you if you wish. I would not charge any more for additional guests, though I am not able to provide towels or bedding for more than two people. There is presently a problem with hot water in the kitchen, yet it is fine in the bathroom. I am just boiling the kettle to do the washing up at the moment and it has not been a major problem for me. Guest AccessYou have access to the whole flat. Interaction with GuestsThis is my own flat that I have available when I am away, thus I will not be there during your stay. Depending on when you would like to come arrival and departure can be flexible. For example, if you were to come during the week you would be more than welcome to arrival as early as you like and leave as late as you like the following day. However, if you were to come on a Saturday I may be there till early afternoon, and then be back Sunday afternoon The NeighborhoodThe flat is situated right next to the river. It is a really beautiful location. The grassy area surrounding the flat is communal and you are welcome to use it to relax, read or eat. There are benches and picnic tables. Yet there is no BBQ equipment and they are not encouraged. Getting AroundParking There are car parking facilities by the flat that get busy during the day as people who use the train often park there. There is parking restriction from 9-10am Monday to Friday on the roads nearby so I would advise not arriving during this time. If you were to arrive at say 10.30am (or any time after) and there are no spaces you can park on the road and then move your car later in the day to the parking area if you were going to be there between 9 and 10 the next day. Transport Hertford North train station is less than 5 mins walk. There are regular trains to London Moorgate (Northern line) and Kings Cross (Northern and Victoria lines) both of which go through Finsbury Park (Victoria and Piccadilly lines). The regularity of trains varies throughout the day with them being about every 10 mins at the busiest times of the day, and then 4 per hour the rest of the day. The last train from London Kings Cross is at 1.05am. The train takes about 50 minutes to Moorgate. Other Things to NoteAccessibility One needs to walk up two steps to get into the flat, these can been seen in the photo. Thus the flat is not really suitable for someone uses a wheel chair full time.

There are also lots of fantastic restaurants and a range of old pubs, modern bars and nightclubs. We also have the country side and the River Lea on our doorstep. Enjoy leisurely walks and stop in one of the many local coffee shops or feed the ducks. You could even enjoy a canal boat ride on the River Lea or walk to Hertford Castle. Getting AroundWe are in walking distance to most places in Hertford including bars, restaurants and a 2 minute walk to Hertford East train station with frequent direct trains into London Liverpool Street. Hertford North station is also a short walk away with regular direct trains into London Kings Cross. We are also a short car journey to Stansted airport. It takes just 40 minutes and Luten airport is 45 minutes. Heathrow airport is also just 55 minutes in the car. Other Things to NoteWe offer one secure underground parking space with easy access to our apartment. There is also on road parking. Booking only accepted for a minimum of 4 nights.

The NeighborhoodBuilt in 2015, the flat is part of a development adjacent to the River Lea navigation canal tow path and a business park. Hertford is an affluent and safe town. It's quiet too - but the ducks and geese have been known to pipe up when the fox is about. We're adjacent to the river, opposite the very spacious Hartham Common. From the flat there's a lovely 2 1/2 mile walk along the river to Ware (with the option to return by train). It is possible to continue to walk the length of the Lea Valley to the Olympic park.... although you may want to pack some plasters for that. Guests can access three supermarkets and the town centre, with a number of bars and restaurants, all within a 5-10 minute walk. Getting AroundHertford East station is located only a few hundred metres from the Flat. This is a at the end of the direct line to Liverpool Street and provides connections to London underground via Tottenham Hale. Hertford North lies on the Kings Cross line and one can travel north from there to Stevenage and Cambridge. Travellers can use Oyster cards from Hertford East. By car, Hertord has excellent links via the A414 and A10 to the M1. A1M and M25. Parking is available so let me know if you are arriving by car and require access to the secured underground car park.
