The SpaceNumber 3 is a small, comfortable three bed home lived in by Bev and her quiet, well behaved dog, George. Guests will have use of a private bathroom - not en-suite but right next door to their room, and a cosy bedroom with garden views and plenty of cupboard space. There is a small, cosy single room available at additional charge that might suit a teenager or 3rd member of the group. Please note that the room is across a small landing and not adjacent to the main guest room. It shares bathroom facilities. Number 3 is set in a great location. The house is literally 5 minutes from the Channel Tunnel, although you would never know that it was there. Historic Canterbury, wonderful Dover Castle and the bustling ferry port are all about 30 minutes away, and London not much more by high speed link. Save loads of money and avoid London hotel prices by staying at number 3! Ashford is 30 minutes away, and Folkestone with the fascinating Creative Quarter, Harbour and famous RockSalt restaurant is 10 minutes by car or a 45 minute walk along the Esplanade. And it is a walk worth doing, particularly on a sunny day as it passes through the lower coastal park. There is plenty to do when you stay at number 3....coffee in NUTMEG, Hythe's favourite coffee stop and lunch in LOAF, Sandgate's secret hot spot, are a must. Loaf is just an appetite- stimulating stroll away and very dog friendly. Don't forget about swimming in the sea off good, clean beaches, great golf, cycling routes, sailing, wild beasties at Port Lympne Zoo Park and much, much more. Feeling less energetic? No problem . Grab a drink & the papers and while away a few hours in the garden at number 3, or on a bench by the canal at Ladies Walk, or spread out a blanket in Brockhill Country Park . Perhaps give in gracefully and snooze the morning away in a deckchair on the beach. Feeling peckish ? Brunch at the Hythe fish market, gourmet meals at RockSalt, pub grub at the wonderful Tiger Inn, Big Boy Burgers in Folkestone's Old High Street- there is plenty to tickle your taste buds, and please, do seek out some delicious English wine to chill down, and sip as the sun sets over the bay. And on warm moonlit evenings, pack a picnic or load up the BBQ and enjoy a midnight supper on the sea shore. Memories are made of this ! Guest AccessWe are very informal at number 3 and hope guests will relax and feel that the house is theirs to share and enjoy. Guests have unlimited access to tea and coffee that they can make in the kitchen, and are free to use the garden and other living rooms. Breakfast can be enjoyed in the dining room overlooking the garden , in the garden, or at the small breakfast bar in the kitchen . There is free, generally reliable, wireless internet, sufficient for most transactions. Guests are welcome to use the pretty, private garden and enjoy tea and coffee or a cold drink as they read the papers. Interaction with GuestsBev & George live at number 3 and love meeting new people. However, Guests' privacy is always respected. Bev does occasionally need to work away from home and so guests will have the house to themselves on those occasions, and will need to be confident enough to fend for themselves a little bit. The NeighborhoodSeabrook is a residential area with charms and history that guests will enjoy exploring. There are strong military links, and the Royal Military Canal begins here, at Seabrook Point. Walking or cycling along the canal path is a great way to spend a sunny day. Nestled at the foot of the Downs there are lots of good walks & cycle opportunities right on the doorstep. When you have worked up a hearty appetite there are lots of pubs, cafes and restaurants to try out, and a good selection of supermarkets. Hythe is a really nice little town, and no visit to number 3 is complete without seeing the skulls in the crypt of St. Leonards church ! Getting AroundA car is going to be useful, but not essential as public transport is pretty good. The high speed train from Folkestone or Ashford to London is BRILLIANT ! Bikes are great for local journeys and can be hired in Hythe. Other Things to NoteThere is a small, comfy, single room available if required. This room shares the guest bathroom. It is available at additional cost for groups of three, sharing facilities. Please mention when booking if you wish to use this room. George is able to welcome one small, well behaved dog travelling with Guests. There are lots of safe walks close by and fabulous walks on the Downs with incredible views just a short drive away. Dog access to the beach is seasonal. Bev provides breakfast breads, toast, spreads and fruit so that Guests can suit themselves as to when they get up. If you prefer a more scheduled, cooked breakfast, please let Bev know when you book but do note that cooked breakfasts are not always available. You are welcome to help yourself to unlimited tea, coffee and toast throughout your stay. Guests may use the fridge & cooker to store and prepare their own food during their stay by arrangement and for small additional charge. Please discuss with Bev when you book. Picnics , lunches and suppers are available at small additional charge and by special arrangement. The washing machine and tumble dryer can be used by Guests. Bev offers a local pick up service where possible, and if she is available. There may be an additional charge for pick ups outside the immediate area. Please discuss when booking. There is safe, on street parking outside number 3. There is a flight of steps up to the front door which may mean number 3 is not suitable those with mobility problems. Because there is a dog in the house , we cannot accept children under 14 years of age. Bikes can be safely stored overnight but there is a flight of steps up to the property which may make access awkward. A cleaning fee is automatically applied.

Our new sofa bed includes a comfortable small double memory foam mattress (4ft x 6ft). With a large window to the front, this is a very light and airy room and is complimented by the solid wood flooring that befits the charm and the character of the building. With 4 stations in between, all within walking distance of a beach, this is definitely worth a visit. In Folkestone, pay a visit to the Lower Leas Coastal Park. It’s split into three recreational zones. Beginning at the 125-year-old funicular railway Leas Lift, the formal zone consists of attractive pine avenues, gardens and flowers that bloom year-round. The fun zone is home to one of the largest free adventure play areas in England, as well as a popular amphitheater. Finally, the park's wild zone is dedicated to conservation and local wildlife. Another place worth a visit (car needed) is Port Lympne Wild Animal Park which is set in 600 acres and is home to the largest herd of black rhinos outside Africa, as well as African elephants, tigers, lions and the world’s largest gorillarium ‘The Palace of the Apes’ and the African Safari Experience. Simply stunning, and often very quiet, even in the summer. A further 12 miles along the coast is the famous sandy beaches of Camber Sands. A remarkable variety of wildlife live at Dungeness! Less than 30 minutes by car is the Ashford McArthur Glen Designer Outlet offering fantastic discounts on great brands, including Ralph Lauren, Abercrombie & Fitch and Superdry. There are several quintessential Kent towns well worth a visit slightly further afield from Hythe - Rye is stunning, with its meandering cobbled streets and lovely shops and Tenterden makes for a wonderful afternoon out. Hythe itself has plenty of eateries to suit all tastes - there are several tea shops and cafes serving great coffee and good food - Gingers Kitchen is particularly good, and just a 5 minute walk from the house. For a great meal out, The Hythe Bay Seafood Restaurant is 2 minutes from the house and very well rated. The Hythe Brasserie is perfect for a special occasion, as is The Hythe Imperial Hotel or you could try Coppers or Thailand Tom for good Asian cuisine. There are also plenty of good pubs around serving cold beer and good food! Hythe is a 10 minute drive from the M20 motorway at junction 11, giving you quick and easy access to the whole of the Kent, and up towards the M25 and London. Sandling Station is 2.5 miles from Stade Cottage offering a direct line into London Charing Cross. Folkestone Central Station takes you to London St Pancreas on a direct line in less than an hour.
