It is away from the hustle and bustle of modern life and will give you a chance to get back to nature. Guest AccessThere is ample and free parking right outside the house and guests are free to roam the surrounding countryside although we do ask that you stick to the footpaths and respect the agricultural work we are carrying out. There is one double room and one single room with a shared bathroom and separate shower room. There is a shared living room with an open fireplace and the host will provide breakfast on request on guests arrival. There is an outdoor heated pool for guest use in the summer months. Interaction with GuestsWe are a married couple who work on the farm and live in the farmhouse so we will be around on the farm in the daytime. Clare is happy to act as guide for people who want to explore the extensive walking opportunities or anything else the guests might like to do during their stay. The NeighborhoodWe do not have neighbours in the traditional sense, there are properties on the farm that are rented to private individuals. The farm is not near any housing estates or within walking distance of any towns, it is real rural countryside such that you would not usually experience. Getting AroundYou will need a car if you want to get to the local towns or bus stops/train stations but there is ample and free parking at the farm. Other Things to NoteAs has been mentioned many times before, the farmhouse is located in a working farmyard which means that we have a lot of animals, including dogs, and tractors coming in and out. Although we do everything in our power to make sure anyone who visits the farm is safe, we do ask that our guests take all reasonable precautions to ensure their own safety.

The SpaceThe ground floor apartment has its own entrance and is completely self-contained, except for the laundry facilities which are shared with the main house (in the utility corridor which connects it to the annexe). There is free parking for guests on the driveway of the house. The large bedroom has a king-sized bed, which can also be made up as two singles if required (please let us know when booking). The bedroom has plenty of wardrobe space, and a hairdryer is provided. A third (single) bed can be made up in the bedroom on request. For parties of up to four people we can also make up a single bed in the sitting room. The en suite bathroom and toilet features a 'wet room' shower. The sitting room opens on to the garden via French windows, and is a suntrap in good weather (an awning outside the windows can be used to shield the room from the sunlight if it gets too bright!). Furnishings include cane 3-seater and 2-seater sofas, and a cane dining table and chairs. The room also contains a modern kitchenette, well-equipped with a fridge (including freezer compartment), electric hob, combi microwave / convection oven, toaster, and a good collection of utensils. Guests will find a welcome pack on arrival including tea, coffee, milk and bread. The sitting room has a flat-screen TV, with all free-to-air channels plus Sky (including all movie and sports channels) and a DVD player. There's also a sound system with DAB radio and CD player, as well as an iPod docking station and auxiliary inputs. A large selection of CDs and DVDs is available for guests to choose from. Fast WiFi internet access is also provided. Guest AccessGuests can relax in the private and secluded garden; a gas BBQ is available should you fancy a spot of al fresco cooking. The garden also features a large spa hot tub, which guests are welcome to use between noon and 10 pm - if you think you'd like to, please let us know at least 48 hours before your arrival, as the water isn't always kept heated when not in use and it takes a while to heat up! Please note that all guests who will use the hot tub must first be shown how to operate the the hydraulic cover lifter and the controls. Interaction with GuestsIf you arrive in the evening or at the weekend, one or both of us will normally be around to meet and greet you. If your arrival is outside these times we'll leave the keys in a suitable spot and provide instructions on where to find everything. We're usually around in the main house in the evenings and at weekends, and are always available if any advice on the area or other help is needed, but otherwise we won't intrude on your privacy. The NeighborhoodThe apartment is on a quiet residential street on the outskirts of the Kent county town of Maidstone, and is right next door to a 90-acre nature reserve with beautiful walks. Kent is known as the Garden of England, and the beautiful countryside around Maidstone bears this out. There is an information pack in the apartment giving (amongst other things) details of some of the lovely country walks (and country pubs!) in the area; and of the many nearby attractions, including the Medway river which runs though Maidstone, and nearby Leeds Castle, often described as 'The loveliest castle in the world'. Maidstone itself offers a wide range of restaurants, bars, pubs and clubs. Getting AroundWe are 30 miles south-east of London; just 15 minutes' walk from the centre of town, but also on the edge of the Kent countryside. Despite the quiet and peaceful location, the house is only 5 minutes' drive from J7 of the M20 motorway. The charming coastal town of Whitstable and the historic cathedral city of Canterbury are both less than 30 minutes away by car. For those heading further afield the Eurostar stations at Ebbsfleet and Ashford, and the Eurotunnel terminal at Folkestone, are also less than half-an-hour's drive away, while Dover ferry port is 45 minutes. Maidstone also has excellent train links to London and the Kent coast. Other Things to NoteWe have 2 cats, so unfortunately we're not able to accept pets. If you are allergic to cats (or just don't like them!), let us know and we'll ensure they have no access to the annexe. Children, however, are more than welcome!
