My husband and I live in a lovely area of Devon called Kingsteignton. It has easy access to Torquay and Exeter and a little further ,but not too far away is Plymouth. Dartmoor is very near too as well as lots of nice beaches. We have three children but they have now all grown up. Our eldest son is an English teacher our second son trained as a hairdresser and our daughter is a mum to our little granddaughter . We would like to offer either one or two students a welcoming home .The property has three bedrooms but if there are two students we have a twin room to share. We have a very elderly dog of 16 named Gilly. Our house is quite modern and has a very nice south facing garden at the back. It is in a lovely area from which to explore South Devon.

I live in a bright new modern home with my wonderful partner, Mark. We have no children but have 2 cats and a tortoise! Our house is a new build and was finished in March 2014. Its a mid terrace 3 storey and extremely spacious and bright. We absolutely love it. Our living space consists of a big open plan kitchen and dining area which then leads to a spacious utility room and downstairs WC. On the middle floor is our lounge which leads out on to a patio and garden with a field as our view. Also on the middle level is a computer/office room, a double spare bedroom and a family bathroom. The double bedroom bathroom is what we have on offer for the right student. On the top level is our bedroom, a walk in closet and our en-suite. We have so much space! A bit about us... I am currently working towards becoming a Pharmacy Technician in the community and my partner is a courier for our local hospital. We are both very hard working and make the most of our weekends together by going out or staying in with friends, walking, cooking and seeing our family. I like to try and keep fit by attending a weekly Zumba dance class, whilst Mark much prefers going to the gym and playing football. Football is a big part of Marks life. He supports Torquay United (which aren't doing very well!!!) I hope he doesn't read this! To summarise us as a whole, we are very friendly, social and welcoming. We look forward to sharing our new home with someone just as house proud as us.

The SpaceSouthcombe is a beautiful old granite longhouse farmstead on the west flank of the legendary Widecombe-in-the-Moor Valley. The view below us of the valley and village looks as bucolic as farmland from the 18th century and the wild and open moorland above us is marked out only by ancient reeves, stone hut circles, barrows and tors grazed by ponies, cows and sheep. Dartmoor is a world apart and wonderful to explore at any time of the year. It is spectacular when it snows, fresh and green with white blackthorn blossom in spring, iridescent with bluebells in May, filled with lark song in high summer, dazzling in the August carpets of yellow and purple gauze and heather flowers and then atmospheric with autumn mists. Southcombe itself has a wildly beautiful 4 acre garden below the house which is open to the public on Sunday afternoons with the National Gardens Scheme in May and June, when you too would be welcome to wander in it. Above the house are our fields, our cows pigs and geese, bluebell wood and our gate to the Moor. The guest rooms are in the north wing of the massive granite barn now converted for living. This single room - open to the roof beams - is big and comfortable with a warm oak floor. The window faces east across the valley to Pil Tor and Top Tor and you can sit and enjoy it all in a sofa and armchair with a coffee table, a kettle, coffee and tea and a TV. The SpaceThis beautiful, stone-walled 13th century cottage is hidden away in the Dartmoor village of Holne. Although only 50 metres from the charming Church House Inn and next to the village church it’s completely secluded and can’t even be seen from the little road that goes through the village. The cottage has been in the owner, Jane's family for many years, and as her and her partner Stuart are architects it’s been sensitively restored to a very high standard. It really is the quintessential Dartmoor cottage, combining the cosiness of low ceilings and a wood burning stove with great modern features such as the fabulous new bathrooms with limestone floors, heated towel rails and underfloor heating. It's the kind of cottage you won’t want to leave at the end of your holiday! The ground floor has stone floors throughout. The kitchen/breakfast room has a Rayburn, electric cooker, microwave, fridge, washing machine & dishwasher with French windows that open out to the paved courtyard (photo not yet updated) The sitting/dining room has an inglenook fireplace with a wood burning stove plus electric heating, rugs and comfortable furniture. From the sitting room you access a small extension which has a downstairs loo and a utility room. Upstairs the master bedroom is ensuite. It also has a door out to an inglenook overlooking the garden (see photos). The second bedroom has a double and a single bed with a separate shower room. The newly fitted bathrooms have limestone floors with underfloor heating and heated towel rails. Despite being over 700 years old the cottage has modern technology too with Free Wi-fi, a TV, a Blue Ray DVD player and use of a landline for local calls. There are great walks (or runs) from the door as the Two Moors Way passes nearby. But the area also offers great fishing, horse riding, canoeing, cycling and mountain biking. The nearby river Dart also has some great swimming and picnic spots. The old Stannary town of Ashburton is a short drive. This has a great selection of high quality restaurants, pubs cafes and shops. In the summer it has an excellent outdoor heated swimming pool. The town is particularly known for its antique shops. And if you tire of the moor South Devon's loveliest beaches are within easy driving distance. And for the occasional wet day try a day trip to Plymouth for some shopping and to visit the National Aquarium or a visit to the Dartmoor Zoological Park featured in the Matt Damon movie, We bought a Zoo. Guest AccessGuests have full access to everything in the cottage and the extensive gardens Interaction with GuestsI'm available throughout on phone and email. The caretaker, Paula, lives in the village a couple of minutes away and is there to help. The NeighborhoodOne of Dartmoor's loveliest villages. Superb walking, cycling and running literally from the door. Several of the UK's finest wild swimming spots are within walking distance. The local pub is great and there are also some great restaurants in nearby Ashburton and Totnes. Getting AroundA car is really essential (unless you're a very fit cyclist or an even fitter walker/runner) Other Things to NoteMy favourite of all the cottages I manage. I wish I lived there myself

The SpaceMaidencombe Holiday Cottages presents Lily Cottage. This self-contained thatched bungalow is situated in the heart of rural Maidencombe. The beach, coastal and country walks are all on your doorstep, or you can just relax in the village pub the 'Thatched Tavern', or enjoy fine dining at the 'Orestone Manor' restaurant. The bungalow is annexed off the main house, with its own private entrance. It has two bedrooms - one with a double bed, one with a single bed, and a double sofa bed in the lounge. It has dining space for four, a modern kitchen/diner with a gas hob, electric oven, large fridge and freezer, and a washing machine. The bathroom has a bath and an electric shower. A tumble dryer is available in a communal area and of course there are washing lines for sunny days. Guests are welcome to use the gardens, and also have a dedicated parking space on the drive. The apartment has gas central heating and hot water that guests can control so you are always comfortable. Bedding and towels are provided free of charge. In the lounge there is a flat screen TV, DVD player, free sat channels, free wifi, and cupboards full of games and DVDs. We would recommend this apartment for up to four adults, or three adults and two children. However this is only a recommendation, the price you pay is for the apartment, we do not charge per person. The quaint village of Maidencombe has approximately 30 properties in the main village. It is peaceful and friendly. There is a beach café in the summer months, and The Thatched Tavern pub which has won awards for both its beer garden and pie menu. The pub has two wood burning stoves and a lovely sofa to snuggle into with a mulled wine on crisp winter evenings. We are pet friendly and always welcome well behaved, clean pets at no extra charge. The beach and local pub are also doggie friendly. For walkers Lily Cottage is situated on the South West costal path – or if you are a fan of the moors Dartmoor is only a 30 minute drive away. Torquay and Teignmouth are the closest towns, and you will find plenty of top restaurants and eateries in both. You will find a guide to the local restaurants waiting for you in the cottage when you arrive. There are lots of activities for kids in the surrounding towns - try a day out at Kent's Cavern the world famous prehistoric caves or the fabulous Paignton Zoo. For the adventurous there is Splashdown Water Park, Woodlands Adventure Park, Crealy World of Adventures, and Go Ape. A car is by far the most convenient but buses and taxis are available. This is a non-smoking thatched property, but smoking is allowed in the garden. Be warned that mobile phone coverage is almost non-existent in the village - so you really can escape from it all. We do however have free wifi throughout the apartment. If you need more accommodation please look at my other apartment - Penny Farthings - which sleeps four on the same estate. Guest AccessYou have full and sole use of the bungalow; you also have a parking space on the drive, access to the front and back garden, and a utility room with a tumble dryer and extra washing machine. Interaction with GuestsI have a colleague living on site who is happy to help should you need anything, and I am only a phone call away. The NeighborhoodA rural village by the sea on the edge of Torquay in Devon. Getting AroundA car is advised but there is a bus stop named "Maidencombe Cross" at the top of the hill. Other Things to NoteBecause of the thatch and our insurance this is a no smoking property.

The Space'Dipleigh' is a hidden gem, situated in Dartmoor National Park above the ancient village of Widecombe-in-the-Moor. It is surrounded by unique scenery, amazing views and is a haven for wildlife. The Dartmoor ponies often have foals here and come very close to the house. 'Dipleigh' is finished to a comfortable high standard with underfloor heating, solar hot water and is entirely private. You can walk straight out into this breathtaking land, and head for the granite tors. The energy in the house and land is beautiful. The single storey home is unusual in that it was built in 1912 and refurbished with an awareness of light and views. There is a moorland garden surrounded by a National Parks land with deer, ponies, sheep, cattle, many birds, grass snakes and adders. FOOD:There are 2 good pubs in the village +cafe and we can recommend other places to eat including in the nearby town of Ashburton.
