Guest AccessOur campers have exclusivity to camping at Mannington, with a maximum 9 tents on the 2.5 acre field, there is no chance of crowds. The gardens at Mannington are open to the public a couple of times a week, but our campers are allowed access throughout their stay. Check out the rose gardens for a great spot for a game of hide and seek, and the water meadow for nature spotting. You can hire bikes - it's a great area for cycling. Maps are provided.
Campers have access to the gardens and parkland surrounding the medieval hall at Mannington.
There are cultivated gardens circling the moated house, with walled gardens housing heritage garden planting, with stunning herbaceous borders, fern gardens, roses (over 1000 varieties), and areas for interest for the younger ones too, with willow tunnels and insect investigations.
Further away from the house, there are landscaped lakes, surrounded by over 50 species of different trees, with walks through the blue bells and rhododendrens. Wild flowers and plants are encouraged on the water meadow, where you'll find a board walk to a hide, over looking another lake where otters and kingfishers are regularly seen. This is an ideal place for a spot of pond dipping, the water holes always hosting a display of different damsel and dragon flies in the summer months. Interaction with GuestsWe now have fact sheets and user guides on the website detailing all the things included in your stay and more importantly what you can leave behind. Do have a look. There are also maps detailing the site and directions on how to find your way to us along with user guides for the wood fired pizza oven and sauna.
I will forward detailed arrival instructions and there are information packs in the hut and tents for you. I then tend to come up once in the evening to check everyone has everything they need. Am just at the end of a phone if needed. I only live 2 miles away if anything is requested or help needed. The Neighborhood15 acres of statley home magic is yours, inlcuding wild wetlands with bird hide, moated house gardens, lawns, woodland. There are maps in the tents of the grounds, including the lake walk which is a nice 20 min stroll, and longer walks taking in the local countryside. Walk over the fields to Itteringham, where you'll find the best little country store around, selling local produce and serving teas. Dinner.. head to the fab Walpole Arms and enjoy a torch lit walk home.
Closer to home, there's the Greedy Goose tea rooms on site (open during garden opening times) - great for Sunday brunch once packed up...

It's two night minimum booking at weekends, 3 nights during bank holiday. I know single nights are always wanted - I can help with this from Sunday through to Thursday during term time. For longer stays, you can message me for a special price.
