The SpaceWelcome to this spacious yet cosy cottage within the grounds of our family house. There's a large living room and kitchen area with a wood-burning stove which makes for a very comfortable atmosphere. You'll also enjoy a nice double bedroom as well as some loft space for children and teenagers. I now have two comfortable air beds. The loft is carpeted and it has basic furniture but is essentially a camping-style arrangement and would be unsuitable for toddlers. Having said that, young children have slept there recently with no problem. I can provide a travel cot for a baby if necessary. We have recently upgraded the wifi connection and it is now working perfectly. We live in a little village about 20 minutes' drive from Oxford. There is an hourly bus to Oxford from Stadhampton which is about a 20 minutes walk away. There are lots of walks and country pubs around, as well as some nice market towns like Wallingford and Abingdon. We're also very close to the Thames for river walks. If you have any questions or special arrangements, please get in touch and we'll be happy to help. The formal garden is off limits I am always at home at the beginning and end of a guest's stay and always contactable. Guest AccessThe formal garden is off limits Interaction with GuestsI am always at home at the beginning and end of a guest's stay and always contactable. The SpaceWE APOLOGIZE BUT PLEASE NOTE THAT WE CAN ONLY ACCEPT A MINIMUM STAY OF 4 NIGHTS BECAUSE OF THE AMOUNT OF WORK IT TAKES TO GET THE HOUSE READY FOR GUESTS. We are offering this carefully renovated Victorian 3 bedroom house for rent at certain times throughout the year, depending on our own respective travel/ work schedules. The house offers bright and spacious accommodation with two bedrooms on the second floor and a lovely attic conversion (bedroom/ study with large writing desk for two people)on the third. We now also have a really nice single sofa bed up here for the occasional 'mid-work nap' or to sleep an additional person. There is a comfy living room, large family bathroom and a very well-equipped live-in-kitchen with skylights (facing South/ East). The latter opens up into the sunny garden (which is currently undergoing a major overhaul to become the finest on the island :-) The house is located in what we think is one of Oxford's loveliest neighbourhoods - a collection of small Victorian cottages in a historic area, close to the river Thames on one side and parks to the other. It is only a few minutes from the Thames tow path which leads up to the open spaces of ancient Port Meadow in one direction, and towards Oxford University, Henley, and eventually London in the other. The path is a wonderful place to walk, cycle, go for a run or Sunday morning stroll. Oxford city centre is easily reached in about 10-15 minutes on foot, and in about 5 on bicycle. Various small shops are nearby for daily essentials, as is West Oxford Primary School and several parks and playgrounds. Also, the train station is not far away (3 minutes on foot) - perfect for commuters to London (Paddington 60 mins) and visitors who have no car. There is a bus stop linking into the Oxford network at the end of the street. Osney Island is simply a wonderful place to live, especially in Spring and Summer, and the neighbourhood is quiet, full of character and very family friendly. Super-fast fibre optic broadband and phone use is included in the rental price. Long-term stays will be asked to pay for weekly cleaning (about £20). Parking permits for on-street parking are available. We ask for a minimum stay of two nights unless there are some exceptional circumstances.

The SpaceMoored in the heart of central Oxford on the beautiful canal, people who love the outdoors often fall in love with Ben the Boat. Cosy all year round with log burner, and peaceful desk space, it suits writers, romantics, and couples who like trees, ducks, and water. The boat is finished in light pine tongue and groove which gives it a modern and warm feeling. There is a reasonable amount of storage space including clothes hanging, book shelves and cupboards. The deck is a lovely place to sit out and watch life passing by on the towpath, or look over at the trees in Worcester college. It has a timeless, unrushed quality where people will stop and chat if you want them to. There are two fold out desks which are useful for those wanting uninterrupted and calm space to work. It's most comfortable for one or two people, but with a two person sofa bed and one permanent single bed it works for three. I lived here for three months with my partner and two small children. Everything functions well but is compact and basic. kitchen, bathroom, shower, gas cooker, small fridge, and small caravan style portaloo. The loo is functional not glamorous. There is fresh linen, towels, and fuel for the wooburner. All Oxford has to offer in terms of shops, restaurants, pubs, colleges, nightlife and beautiful architecture, canal, rivers and parks are within a five minute walk. There are bike racks but no parking. The best option is probably park and ride at the outskirts of the city. However Worcester street car park is 2 minutes away for those who don't mind paying. Guest AccessIt's most comfortable for one or two people, but with a two person sofa bed (which has to be made each night), and one permanent single bed it works for three. A fourth small person can squash in on an inflatable bed and I lived here happily for three months with my partner and two small children. Everything functions well but is compact - kitchen, bathroom, shower, gas cooker, small fridge, and small caravan style portaloo. It's worth saying that this is a boat built in 1877, it's quirky and unusual, but it's old, rustic, and basic technology. It's not like staying in a hotel, and it works best if you are up for an adventure. There is fresh linen, towels, and fuel for the wood/fuel burner. All Oxford has to offer in terms of shops, restaurants, pubs, colleges, nightlife and beautiful architecture, canal, rivers and parks are within a five minute walk. There are bike racks but no parking. The best option is probably park and ride at then outskirts of the city. However Worcester street car park is 2 minutes away for those who don't mind paying. Interaction with GuestsIf I can, I will provide a short introduction to how everything works, then you have complete privacy. The NeighborhoodI honestly love everything about being on the boat and the surroundings. Being in the heart of Oxford city on the boat you will hear people walking past and sometimes student revellers at night, and in summer especially tourists are drawn to the area so you can hear urban life passing by on the towpath. Ben is fully secured from the inside and when you are out in the day. Unfortunately in the small park at the end of the canal people leave rubbish in summer and sometimes drop it into the canal. This is around 150 meters away and shouldn't bother you but is a shame. Outside the central summer months life is much cleaner and quieter on the canal. It is dark at night so a torch is useful. Whilst it can be lively, Oxford is a very safe city and I've never had any problems in 16 years of owning the boat. Getting AroundOxford is well covered for buses. The train and coach stations are both within 5 minute walk. Bike is best! Other Things to NoteSometimes there are spiders on the boat. You don't always see them but it's worth knowing in case you really don't like them.

The SpaceCentral location, ideal for visitors to the university, 2 minutes walk to St Hugh's and St Anthony's, 15 into the centre of town, or there are buses running there every few minutes from the next road. Guest AccessThe room is set up to be self contained. Short term guest are welcome to use the fridge in the kitchen, however, if they want to keep milk/simple items in there. Longer term guests have access to the kitchen to use the fridge and for simple cooking and food preparation. The rest of the house is private, although obviously with access through it to the kitchen! Interaction with GuestsI try to give my guests privacy, but am very happy to chat if wanted, and make recommendations for local eateries, shops, directions, transport, recommended running routes (there are many around here), or anything else to do in Oxford or from Oxford. Getting AroundThere are buses running into the centre of Oxford every few minutes from a bus stop at the top of the road. Or central Oxford is walkable in about 15 minutes, depending on how quickly you walk. If any guest wants to hire a bicycle there are facilities to keep it in the bike shed here. The area is resident's parking but I can supply parking permits if anyone is arriving by car. Other Things to NoteI don't provide breakfasts, just the teas and coffees in the room, but there are 3 cafes providing breakfasts a 5 minute walk away in North Parade, or guests are welcome to keep breakfast items of their choice in the fridge or kitchen here. I have a cat. He is very friendly and nice natured, and does not go into the guest room, but it is probably something I should mention in case any guests are severely allergic and would be effected by the fact that he is free in the rest of the house.

The SpacePeace and privacy, a place to relax by the fire or in the sunny garden, go on river walks from the doorstep to good pubs, yet within 10 minutes on foot to the historic centre of Oxford with its colleges, shops and restaurants. There's a king size bedroom for two with river and church views, a dressing room with a wrought iron staircase leading to an attic study (restricted headroom) with double bed. (A single foam fold out mattress is also available.) So it's ideal for 2 but can comfortably sleep 4. Guest AccessGuests have the house and garden to themselves. A step down from the upstairs bedroom, dressing room and loft room, there's a high ceilinged skylit bathroom with bath and separate walk-in shower. Further down on the ground floor (the stairs are narrow and steep with a hand rail) there is a through living/dining room with both log burner and working fireplace, wooden floorboards, sash windows, a sofa, armchair, 2 pine tables and 4 chairs. An attractive kitchen leads from the dining room with French doors opening onto the patio garden. Cable TV, fast broadband/wifi. Interaction with GuestsI hope to be in Oxford at check-in to welcome guests. Access is by key safe for times I can't be there. I live and work in London but will be available by email/text/phone whenever needed. Otherwise, guests have complete privacy. The NeighborhoodThe house is on Osney island, a quiet conservation area surrounded by river, weir and lock. Just west of the city centre, it's a community of quaint brick terraced cottages with an excellent waterside pub serving food. A Waitrose supermarket is nearby. Guests can enjoy the rural pleasures of Oxford, water meadow and wildlife, but be near the bustle of the historic city centre. Getting AroundOnly about 5 minutes' walk from the train station (London one hour) and 10 minutes' walk from the coach station (airports 90 mins). Local buses run along the Botley Road, a minute from the house. No need for a car, though free time-limited parking is available nearby, with 24 hour/weekly parking at Seacourt Park & Ride, just under a mile from the house, and a city centre car park at Worcester Street, 10 mins' walk. Other Things to NotePlease note that while the rooms with beds are private and on different floors, they are separated by a dressing room, curtained archway and staircase, rather than doors. This is a cosy house displaying the character of its age, rather than a shiny modern let.

The SpaceA Victorian property with character close to Oxford City centre about 2 minute walk to the High Street of Oxford and Magdelan Bridge. An eccentric English home with old floorboards, original fireplaces and intriguing items. We do our very best to keep the place clean and spotless but this is not a shiny, new, modern place - it's a bit rough around the edges :) Guest AccessThe whole property. Entrance hall, landing with breakfast facility area, living room, bath/shower room, master bedroom, further shower room and toilet, 2 further single/small double bedrooms. Please note, the apartment can be made up to sleep 8, this will be done by adding two single beds in the master bedroom, which will mean four people will share one room. The downstairs hallway of the apartment is shared. Interaction with GuestsI welcome the guests to give them keys and show them around. If there are any questions I will be available by telephone or email. The NeighborhoodAlong with the world class High Street of Oxford is the famous Cowley Road with its eclectic variety of bars and quality restaurants nearby. Also close by you can enjoy a walk in the Capability Brown-designed South Park or Headington Hill Park. Punting is available in the warmers months from Magdalen Bridge. Try a walk around the beautiful Magdalen college and its gardens and deer park all 5 minutes away from this property. Getting AroundThere is an excellent bus service to all areas of the city, and the rail station can be reached by bus in 10 minutes. The St Clements bus stop connects with the 4 major London airports, with a 24 hour coach service to/from central London taking approximately 90 minutes. Other Things to NotePlease note that breakfast is not included, but the breakfast facility area comprises tea/coffee making equipment, microwave, toaster, refridgerator, mineral water dispenser, cutlery and crockery. A full catering service of home-cooked meals & beverages are available from the Tick Tock Cafe next door at very reasonable prices. These are available for home delivery on/in crockery or in takeaway containers. On-road parking is available nearby using a visitor's permit.

The SpaceWe live in a lovely late Victorian terraced house. The guests' 2nd floor attic bedroom is cosy, comfortable, light and airy and suits two people well, with a double bed, bedside tables and lights, full length mirror with hanging space, a small desk, chair and hair drier. Your private adjoining bathroom, like the bedroom, has a sloping ceiling, small, but perfectly formed with shower, toilet, wash basin and enough shelves for your 'stuff'. A couple of years ago both rooms were almost entirely refurbished, even with a heated mirror in the bathroom, so it doesn't steam up ! Guest AccessThe top floor with your bedroom and bathroom is for your personal use, occasionally the other bedroom is used by family and friends but they will use another bathroom. Because our house is over a hundred years old the stairs are steep and twisting so heavy suitcases are difficult to manage. We serve a wonderful breakfast in the kitchen/dining area and we are happy to make you a drink at any time if required, as we do not have facilities for making your own drinks upstairs. If you need to launder any items we are happy to put them through the wash at the same as we do ours, alternatively you can use the washing machine facilities yourself for a charge of £5.00 per wash. Interaction with GuestsWe have not registered for "Instant book" as we like to have some contact with our guests before booking. That way we get to know each other beforehand and when we open the door to you we feel we are welcoming friends to our house. This is what sets Airbnb hosts apart from the usual 'Bed and Breakfast'. We enjoy meeting people and we hope you'll be happy if we join you for breakfast. Also we will help you as much as possible with any information on Oxford and the surrounding area. The NeighborhoodCowley Road area is accepted as being the most vibrant part of Oxford. Being multi-cultural and a magnet for the University, we have the best variety of restaurants and cafés, including Tapas and Sushi bars, Greek, Italian, Lebanese, Chinese, Thai, Nepalese, Indian and many others and all within a 10 minute walk from our house. There are also great pubs, bars, an Art Cinema, several supermarkets, and small shops. In summing up this area, it is wonderfully alive and a delightful walk down the bustling Cowley Road, over Magdalen Bridge, past the Botanical Gardens and a number of Oxford's historic colleges to the city centre. Or you can detour through narrow streets between the colleges, the Bodleian, the Sheldonian and on to the world class Ashmolean, History of Science museum, Natural History, Pitt Rivers museum, and Modern Art Oxford. Getting AroundAccess to virtually anywhere in Oxford is easy walking from us. We are only an enjoyable 22 minute walk to the city centre (Carfax Tower) as detailed by an internet search engine. Alternatively, the bus stop to the city centre (5,1 &10 buses) and railway station (no. 5) is two minutes walk from us, with buses every few minutes. Access to London, (aprox 1 1/2 hours) is by train or bus. There are 2 bus companies, the "Oxford Tube" and the "X90" Buses from Heathrow, Gatwick and Luton airports and the London buses ALL STOP IN ST. CLEMENTS and we are about an eight minute walk from there. All the drivers will make an announcement on approaching St.Clements. If you are coming from other destinations please consult your bus company. For those of you with a car we have a limited number of on-street parking permits. Please ask when you contact us. Other Things to NoteWe would love you to stay with us. However, BEFORE YOU CONTACT US COULD YOU VERIFY YOUR OFFLINE ID ( PASSPORT or DRIVING LICENCE ) WITH AIRBNB and write a little bit about yourself as we are not part of any social network. We live in a house which is over 100 years old. We have steps up to our front door, and access to the attic bedroom and bathroom with a sloping ceiling is via two flights of stairs, so sadly this is not suitable for people who have mobility difficulties. The house is equipped with an integrated fire alarm system and there are fire extinguishers at different points throughout the house.

Interaction with GuestsI work from home, so I'll be present during your stay. I'm a very social person, but quite happy to leave guests to their own devices if they want some peace and quiet. The NeighborhoodThis is THE place to live in Oxford. perfectly located for St Clement's and the Cowley road with all the restaurant and entertainment that they afford. The SpaceMy house is in the centre of Jericho and next to a Lebanese (Syrian ) Restaurant where I love to eat and meet friends. It is at the front of the house so you can hear life going on but it is particularly quiet for such a central location. At night the restaurant does manage to make a bit of a clatter as they put their bottles in the recycling bin but many guests don't even notice, but hey, we're not in the middle of the country, we're in Oxford. The bathroom is clean, easy to use and plenty of hot water, towels and robes. I have a hair-dryer, ironing board and iron too which you are welcome to use. There's plenty of space in your room to do that last minute ironing or to get ready for a night out... The bed is great and has a medium firm good quality mattress and I keep good bed-linen for your comfort. We have a washing machine for emergencies although short-term guests are not expected to do their washing here. I do provide a self-service breakfast and if you're lucky there'll be something from the allotment, but no promises. I usually have sour-dough bread, good quality butter and an assortment of jams/honey/muesli. There's coffee, teas, milk and fresh eggs when available. Please ask me if there's anything special you need or would like. There an excellent combi-micro-wave and a pretty ordinary oven for those who don't like digital technology. We have a kitchen with most appliances, including a steamer and good pans. I really hope people will look after them and put their dishes away fairly soon so surfaces are not cluttered.
