One of Smith's first finds, Stoke Park is an enormous, imposing stately mansion designed by 'Mad' King George III’s architect, which, if it weren’t for the Union Jack flying, would look like a mini White House. As well as boasting a golf course (where James Bond and Goldfinger enjoyed a round, no less), Stoke Park has its own incredible spa, Stoke Park Spa, separate from the mansion, with an inviting indoor pool looking over the gardens.

The SpaceThis is a family house - busy but not noisy... People, cats, dogs ... They all take their toll on the house and there is just me trying to keep on top of it all!! It is not a bed and breakfast with a team of cleaners appearing at 6 am every day ... Just me... The Airbnb room is spotless - the rest of the house is basically clean... Guest AccessThis is a family house - so guests can use the kitchen to prepare an evening meal... Interaction with GuestsOnce a booking is made and contact details have been released I am happy to answer any questions you may have about your trip and help in any way I can... Upon arrival you can have complete privacy if you wish but if you want to have a chat at any time I am usually around :D The NeighborhoodWindsor is gorgeous... I love the fact that we live only a few minutes walk away from the castle ... There is so much park land on the royal estate that everyone can enjoy... Getting AroundThe town has 2 stations going to London Paddington and London Waterloo .. The stations are about a 7 and 12 minute walk away from the house.. Other Things to NoteIf you are coming to Windsor on a short term work placement - the room is ideal being so close to the town centre, therefore no extra travel costs to think about ( and a reduced room rate compared to the nightly rate ) please get in touch if you have any questions about this..

Your room has a very comfortable single bed, a desk and chair, chest of drawers, and wardrobe; there is an international converter plug with usb hubs, a towel is provided, and a hairdryer, an emergency supply of toiletries and an iron is available! During your stay you have access to the rest of the house, guests often meet each other and socialise if they want to, some have made great connections and say that is the best part of their stay. We do cook in the kitchen and use the bathroom downstairs (to keep the upstairs shower room for guests). We want you to feel like you are home; there are fruit, nuts, cereal and soups on the kitchen counter to help yourself to, bread in the bread bin, and several teas, coffee and hot chocolate available whenever you want, just pop the kettle on. You have fridge space and cupboard space so you can cater for yourself, and you have full use of the fully-fitted kitchen, which is equipped with all mod cons, so you can rustle up a meal or snack for yourself. There's an upstairs shower room for the use of guests, with hot water all day. There is a strict no smoking policy or vaping in the house for the comfort of all guests. There is an English cottage garden at the back, with a fire pit and social area to sit out in for your pleasure. In the local area you will find everything you need for a great stay; there are cafes, restaurants, supermarkets and pubs all within walking distance. There are also good transportation links; my house is just a short walk from two stations; where there is a regular service to London Paddington and Waterloo, which can take as little as 30 minutes. My house is perfectly located for visiting Windsor Castle. It is just a short walk to the castle which is the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world and also the official residence of the Queen. The Castle covers an area of about 13 acres, and contains the State Apartments, pieces from the Royal Collection, The Drawing Gallery, St George's Chapel, and many other treasures! We are also close to the river and the Long Walk, and just across the bridge from Eton village; with its quirky shopping street, college and cathedral. There is a lot to enjoy, over 2 million visitors a year to Windsor can't be wrong. Over 400 guests a year enjoy a warm and friendly If you need to know anything please do not hesitate to ask. The shower is hot 24/7 enjoy, and there are toiletries made available should you forget yours. The lounge and dining area are great meeting places and you never know who you will come across, some great connections have been made right in this home - even some life-changing ones! We live here in an annex, and we have enjoyed years of good relations with our guests, many have gone on to become friends. Relax, it's home from home. The NeighborhoodThe neighbourhood is safe, quiet and friendly, it is also 5 mins walk from the town centre. It is a tourist destination and so it is a very desirable town. Getting AroundIf you need a taxi I highly recommend Windsor Radio Cars, (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN), they are the best value, reliable and trustworthy. Please consider calling them for transport to and from the airports particularly, and all short journeys in the area are best served by them. Windsor has two train services into London, and ample bus and coach services to the rest of the country. It also has easy access to the M4. Other Things to NoteWe live here in an annex, and we have enjoyed years of good relations with our guests, many have gone on to become friends. Also there is frequent train service from Slough into Windsor which takes just about 3 minutes. If you are visiting Windsor Castle this connection is highly recommended. Though any of the two exits from Slough train station will take you the flat, you are better off using the rail terrace exit. Heathrow Airport – is about 20-30 minutes by bus to or from Slough. If you are using the bus you will have to take bus 76 to Terminal 3 or bus 78 to terminal 5. Make sure you look for the right bus stand in these terminals If you are travelling from the airport end into Slough. You may want to use a cab if you prefer, this takes about 10-15 minutes and should not cost more than £20-£22. Gatwick Airport – is about an 50 minutes if you are driving and it’s best you take M25 clockwise from Gatwick end and leave at junction 15 to join M4. Slough exit on M4 are junctions 5 and 6. I think most people would say junction 6 is better but I just prefer exiting at junction 5. If you are not driving, you could consider taking a train from Gatwick to Reading and then take another train to Slough from there. I wouldn’t advise this route though. Another option from Gatwick is to take National Express Bus from Gatwick to Heathrow and then connect using any of the options above from Heathrow to Slough. I believe busses leave from Gatwick to Heathrow frequently: every 7-15 minutes. Remember to look for the right bus stand. Stansted & Luton Airport's- Easybus is available from these airports to Baker Street which both take about 1 hour. From Baker Street station, take Bakerloo Line to Paddington and hop on a Great Western train coming to or passing through Slough. They are frequent. If you prefer to take a train from Stansted Airport, then you will be alighting at Liverpool Street station. From there, connect the tube to Paddington station and take a train to Slough from there. Note: Central London is about 35-45 minutes journey altogether by train and 1 hour by buses 701 and 702 from Victoria Bus Station.

The SpaceMost of the time we all love our families, our jobs, our friends and our lives in general. But every now and again, we just need some “us time” to spend together and remember what it’s like to be “just you and me”. The Dimpsey Hut is for times just like that – it’s there that we go when we want to get far from the madding crowd. It may look like a shepherd’s hut from the outside – but inside it’s a sanctuary, an escape, a place to rediscover and to contemplate. With the Wood-fired hot-tub outside and a wood-fired garden oven to cook in, as well as a firepit to sit by and watch the stars - you'll be able to craft your own relaxing culinary break. I don’t know what happens when you go through the door, but I like to think that the world drops away and hides under the steps – so it’s there if you need it, but unseen if you don’t. The sheep’s wool insulation and the solid construction means that even bad weather can be delightful – with the log burner lit and a sheepskin to lounge on, it’s like one of those cosy days when the rain beats against the window and you know that you haven’t got to venture out. On sunny days, the shepherd’s hut door is thrown wide open, the birdsong streams in and the top step makes a great place to sit with a mug of tea and watch the countryside meander by. Our Jacob sheep graze lazily in the orchard and in the next field, our Dexter cows munch their way slowly through the field – occasionally wandering up to the gate and looking over into your shepherd hut world, this is glamping at its best. The Shepherd's Hut is an 18 foot luxury hut built on an oak chassis by Blackdown Shepherd Huts - who are based a few miles away from us. The interior has been fitted out with luxury in mind and blends vintage pieces, with designs from artisans across the UK. From the forged copper light switches to the vintage eiderdown, it's all about the experience we want you to have. Everything is included in the price, so no extra charges for logs and linen. We also set you up with a Welcome tea tray and a starter breakfast pack of bread, bacon & eggs. The fully-made bed folds easily down out of the wall - complete with a luxury double mattress made in Devon. You have a gas hob and fridge, as well as the toasty log-burner, perfect for toasting your toes by. We also have a full-sized shower and unique stone sink in the bathroom - with complimentary toiletries from Trevarno in Cornwall. We have great walks and bike rides on the doorstep - so you can just leave the car parked and perambulate around the area, in a carefree and casual manner! The Dimpsey Hut is based on a small farm and we've learnt lots about raising and eating our own food, so we'd like to share that with you too - we have burgers and sausages available on the farm and can source from lots of other local producers, just ask if you'd like to eat local while you're here. Guest AccessThe Dimpsey Shepherd's Hut is in Hither Orchard, which we replanted a couple of years ago. You have your own private space and area and you will feel like you're a million miles from anywhere! We have paths around the fields which you're welcome to explore (they're marked on the map in the hut - you may need wellies if it's wet!). You'll be able to meet some of our menagerie of animals if you want to - and we can make you up a picnic if you want to go and walk around the area. You have a firepit and a garden oven to cook on, as well as the facilities in the hut - and if you'd like a quick lesson in lighting the fire - you only have to say and we'll pop over. We've got a number of places to just sit and watch the world go by - the skies at night are fascinating too, so we do provide a telescope. Interaction with GuestsIf you let us know what time you're arriving, we'll pop and say hello and show you around the hut - but you're also quite welcome to arrive and go without seeing us at all. We'll leave you to your own devices, but we're around, and if you need anything at all - you just have to ask. We're more than happy to pass the time of day if you see us and say Hi - but we'll never disturb you unasked. Most of all - we want you to enjoy your Dimpsey break - it's your time and we respect that. The NeighborhoodWe're on the Blackdown Hills which means that the scenery is amazing - we're tucked down a country lane and you'd think we were miles from anywhere, yet we're easily accessible from the A303 and main trunk roads. It's really easy for us to get to the Jurassic coast - with Lyme Regis just 40 minutes away. We quite regularly pop to North Devon or Cornwall for a surfing day - both can be reached in 90 minutes. Getting AroundThere is a train station at Taunton (Paddington line) and Crewkerne (Waterloo line) both of which are about 25 mins away. We're more than happy to pop and pick you up if you pre-arrange it with us. The nearest small towns are Ilminster and Chard, with bus stops nearby in Combe St Nicholas. We can also arrange taxis if required. Other Things to NoteIf you do want to try out some activities while you're in the area, let us know and we'll arrange them for you. There are a wealth of courses available locally, ranging from cooking to woodcraft and shooting to golf. And of course, in keeping with our relaxing theme - there are some great spas nearby that you can go and be pampered at. Please be aware that when staying in the country, you will hear a cow moo occasionally or owls hooting and tractors passing down the lane - it's all part of the country charm.
