The SpaceCome and stay in our Cotswold stone barn conversion, which is surrounded by nothing but fields and wildlife. No road noise, perfect peace ..... located in the heart of the countryside but close to the local village of Cherington with it's 13th century church, and the historic market town of Tetbury with its medieval market house, countless antique shops, numerous coffee shops, restaurants and .... the Highgrove shop! The barn dates back to the early 1800's but was converted from farm use into a family home in the 1990's. The barn has oak doors throughout, exposed beams and stone walls, and a unique central hand built galleried oak staircase which took a craftsman joiner 9 months to complete! Our guests have a bedroom with a separate bathroom inside the barn 'en famille'. This bright room features sloping ceilings with exposed beams and stonework and a long window overlooking the side gardens. The room has its own washbasin etc but its private bathroom, located across the central galleried landing, has a bath, wash basin and power shower (and a set of scales ....) As a unique alternative, we have a very cosy, well insulated vintage shepherd's hut in a paddock very near the house (separately listed under Cotswolds Glamping), with a cosy 4' double bed, a small stove and candles for overnight illumination - plus electricity if needed ! Guests in the shepherd's hut use the bathroom in the main barn and come in for breakfast around the Aga in the kitchen. Our guests live alongside us during their stay, but have privacy when they want it. All rooms and facilities are available, together with some wonderful gardens including an 18' koi carp pond. There are great walks nearby, including one which takes you down into the valley to Cherington Lake. Guests will be treated to an Aga-cooked English breakfast each morning. Dinner is sometimes available in the kitchen or dining room - Liz is a GREAT cook! The house is well lived in, so other rooms can sometimes seem rather chaotic but they are full of character! We have normal 'Freeview' television services (no satellite channels) in the kitchen and drawing room, and WiFi broadband but owing to the distance from the telephone exchange internet access can be slow. Please note that the property is entirely no smoking and that we have 2 charming cats, one of which can do tricks .... they are only allowed in the kitchen and do not go into the the rest of the house. Tetbury is about 5 minutes away and other towns including Cirencester, Cheltenham, Bath and Bristol are all within easy driving distance. The nearest train station is Kemble (10 minutes away) which is served from London Paddington in 75 minutes. We can collect guests from that station. However, owing to the fairly remote location of the property we would recommend using a car unless you plan to stay put throughout your stay. We can recommend plenty of local walking routes, pubs, restaurants and areas of historic interest. There are walks and concerts at Westonbirt Arboretum, polo at the Beaufort Polo Club and Cirencester Polo Club, flying at Kemble Airfield, watersports at the Cotswold Water Park, National Hunt racing at Cheltenham and Bath, motorsport at Castle Combe and wildlife at the Cotswold Wildlife Park (Burford) and Longleat. There is the Slimbridge Wildfowl Trust set up by the world renowned naturalist Sir Peter Scott. So - come and stay! Guest AccessOur guests live as part of our household! We eat in the farmhouse kitchen or in the more formal dining room if you prefer. Interaction with GuestsWe enjoy meeting our guests and making new friends, but respect your need for quietness and privacy! The NeighborhoodBlissfully quiet, in the middle of fields and open countryside - lovely walks through quiet byways and footpaths to nearby villages (Cheington, Avening, Nags Head, Nailsworth ....) and Cherington Lake. 5 minutes drive to the pictureseque town of Tetbury, which is full of antique shops and restaurants/cafes and the Highgrove Shop! Getting AroundKemble station is 7 miles away. Taxis available, or we can normally collect you.

The SpaceOur cosy renovated Cotswold shepherd's hut is surrounded by nothing but fields and wildlife. No road noise - perfect peace .... located in the heart of the countryside but close to the local village of Cherington and the historic market town of Tetbury. 12 miles from Cirencester, the Capital of the Cotswolds. The shepherd's hut is in a paddock very near the main house (B & B separately listed), with a cosy 4' double bed, a small stove and candles for overnight illumination - plus electricity if needed for a radiator and an electric blanket ..... woo hoo ........ Guests use the bathroom (power shower, bath & WC), in the main house, which is a converted barn, and join us for a cooked or continental breakfast next to the Aga in our cosy warm kitchen. We always use local produce, organic where possible. Guests are free to use our gardens, which include an 18' koi carp pond. There is wireless internet access in and near the house, but the shepherd's hut is probably not close enough .... might be a good thing if you want some isolation! Tetbury is about 5 minutes away and other towns including Cirencester, Cheltenham, Bath and Bristol are all within easy driving distance. The nearest train station is Kemble which is served from London Paddington in 75 minutes. We can usually collect from the station if required. Guest AccessGuests may access the bathroom during the evening and early morning while we are home. Towels are provided. Other Things to NoteWe do provide some barbecue equipment under a shelter but please bring extra camping accessories if you are planning to dine under the stars. We can always help if there is anything you might need!

The SpacePeriod property, with original features, low ceilings etc. There is a little roof terrace outside, on a clear night, the stars are AMAZING. Guest AccessAll creature comforts of home, fridge, oven, microwave, central heating, towels, bedding, hairdryer and iron and iron board, board games.....etc. The NeighborhoodTetbury is a bustling market town, with a real agricultural flavour, the pubs are awesome (in my opinion) and the general theme of the town is relaxed. There is so much to do in the vicinity, lovely National Trust properties and gardens. Beautiful, sleepy Cotswold villages to explore. The World Heritage site - city of Bath is a 40 minute drive away. The cottage is near the border with Wiltshire, with its World Heritage sites, such as Stonehenge and Avebury stone circle & if that's not enough, the South coast is less than 2 hours away! Or London by train is 1h20m away. Getting AroundThere is a bus service, which isn't the best to be honest, Kemble is the nearest train station (6miles away), this has a large pay and display car park and London is 1 hour 20 mins. Other Things to NoteThe Cottage has low ceilings, so tall people please be aware! Also, if you're a light sleeper, you may want to look elsewhere as we're on the B4104, which can get busy in the mornings and don't be surprised to see combine harvesters passing the window!

Tetbury is an old market town and has historical roots back to the 600's. It was an established town by the 1600's and interestingly in 1633 the town of Tetbury was sold by its then owner Lord Berkeley to four local residents who were described as Feoffees in the legal bill of sale. This document also formalised the Thirteen, literally thirteen townsfolk to serve as elected town wardens. Today the Feoffees have charitable status owning a number of sites in and around town. They continue to this day as seven Feoffees, supported by the Thirteen. They are custodians of the town who work voluntarily for the good of Tetbury. The Market House was built in 1655. By the 18th and 19th Century its primary trade was in wool. It remained a trading place rather than an industrial town due to the size of the rivers and local topography. It is set in the picturesque countryside of the Cotswolds with easy access to numerous walks, woods, and holsteries. Market days are Wednesday and Saturday and a French Market is held once a month on a Friday. There are a number of other events, craft events and trading events on other days during the year. The town today is famous for it's numerous antique shops which offer a wide variety of quality items. Highgrove shop offers high quality produce and products from the Highgrove Estate which is located just outside of Tetbury. Of particular note are the many antique shops in the town plus Royal shopping in the famous Highgrove Shop and at the Duchy's Veg Shed. Tetbury, in our opinion is the one Cotswold town which many people don't know enough of and therefore, often miss the opportunity to see possibly the nicest and most unspoilt town of all in the Cotswolds! The SpaceThe flat is a top floor hideaway with hidden views of Cotswold roof tops - and is unexpectedly stylish, with great open plan kitchen dining. There's underfloor heating in the living space and bathroom, though you need to like cool bedrooms - as these just have plug in electric heaters. It's one of three apartments above a gift shop in the centre of town; and the shabby external door and communal staircase doesn't give any indication of just how cool this space is once inside. There's two flights of narrow, steep stairs before you reach our front door - number 3. Here's the first of the quirks. The light to the inner hall way of the flat is OUTSIDE the front door on your left...and next to an entry phone (yes, also OUTSIDE the flat - we've got used to NEVER using it. People call us on the phone instead) When you get in to the flat, there's plenty of coat hanging space and somewhere to leave your shoes before heading up the final flight of stairs (take care, they are steep and open plan). At the top of the stairs, the door to bedroom two is directly in front of you and you arrive straight into the fabulous open plan living/dining space you see in the pictures. We love this space, and when we've had friends round, we can't drag them away from the solid oak breakfast bar, even though there is plenty of room to sit on the two three-seater Habitat sofas. Through a door off the kitchen, you enter a small lobby, with a handy movement sensor light and the shower room is off to the left (light switch outside) and bedroom one off to the right. This is a fabulous retreat (but without any separation from key amenities!). However, there is a downside to being at the heart of things. (:...there are zig zags and double yellow lines right outside the property so, whilst you can park on the double yellows to load/unload your belongings, you need to find a parking space. There is long term free parking about 5 minutes walk away, but it is an uphill walk to return to the flat. If you arrive after 5pm or on a Sunday, it all gets much easier to find on-street parking where you can safely leave your car overnight or all day. It's not suitable for very young children because there is an open staircase and the sash windows are almost floor to ceiling. The sun pours in on a warm day - and you are 30 seconds walk from cafe lifestyle people watching or secluded lounging and drink sipping in The Close Hotel's walled garden. Guest AccessYou will have the whole flat. There's no outside space. Interaction with GuestsWe won't be on the doorstep, but we will text/call when you arrive to check all is ok. The NeighborhoodIf you need groceries, the co-op is 1 minute walk away, round the corner there's a specialist cheese shop, Hobbs House bakery (Fabulous Baking Boys), the Close Hotel (great garden in the Summer and cosy fire in the winter)....and there's three great pubs for food...the furthest is 5 minutes walk! If you like antiques or boutique clothing, you're in luck and when the sun shines, there lots of fabulous places to enjoy the cafe lifestyle and people watch. Tetbury is the home of Highgrove, on the doorstep of Badminton, Gatcombe and Westonbirt. There's walks on the doorstep or further afield. Cirencester and Nailsworth are the best local towns to eat and shop. It's 30 minutes drive from Bath and 45 minutes from Bristol, Cheltenham (races or shopping) and Gloucester Quays. To be honest, there are so many places to go, you will be spoiled for choice. Getting AroundParking is either in Close Gardens (behind the Close Hotel - signposted from the main street, Long Street), the top of Gumstool Hill or the 'Green' on the road towards Malmesbury. If all else fails and you arrive in the middle of the day, with no free parking spots, you can unload on the double yellow lines in front of the building and there is a free car park 5 minutes walk away (with an uphill walk to the town). There are buses to Kemble train station (mainline to London Paddington), Stroud and even one to Bath...but public transport is not Tetbury's strong point. You need a car really. There's a small local taxi firm called the Pink Cab...and you will often see it parked round the corner; but I am told that Express Taxis are bett(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)). Best local car rental is in Cirencester - Enterprise. They will come and get you and drop you off where you need to go if you can't drive to and from their offices. Other Things to NoteThere's no parking, but there are plenty of free parking spots close by. If you are normally a city dweller, it will seem incredibly quiet. If you are usually a country dweller, it may seem noisy. It is on the main street and single glazed, so you can hear traffic noise during the day (or tractor noise during the Autumn - day and night). Occasional Saturdays in the Summer can be noisy till midnight if the local hotel has a wedding. The bedrooms are not heated and are very light, but not overlooked. There are narrow, steep stairs (Victorian building). Within the flat these are open with no handrail. There are also big sash windows which are almost floor to (URL HIDDEN) really not suitable for children.
