TORRINGTON BRAMBLES COTTAGE OVERVIEW BRAMBLES is one of a group of three self catering cottages - situated just a few miles from the historic Cavalier town of Great Torrington in a truly idyllic rural location but just half a mile from the Bideford to Okehampton road. Approach is via a single track lane to a gravelled open area in front of the cottages. The cottages have been converted from agricultural buildings to modern high standards yet retain a lot of their original features and charm like ceiling beams, tongue and groove doors with traditional metal latches, exposed woodwork and stonework. They are all centrally heated and have an excellent range of facilities including bathrooms with full size baths and showers. They also have modern well-equipped kitchens and living areas. The Downes is a beautiful Grade II listed Georgian holiday home near Instow, North Devon. This exclusive, luxury property has recently undergone an enormous amount of restoration work and hosts everything you need to keep your family and friends entertained while in the beautiful Devonshire countryside, including a beautiful outdoor heated pool, tennis lawn and games barn. Entering from the front door, you are greeted by a generous hallway with many reception rooms leading off, providing plenty of space for groups to come together or enjoy peace and quiet. A homely kitchen and enormous dining room are the perfect setting for special meals. From the dining area, picturesque French doors open out to the lawned gardens, to welcome the smell of cut grass and blossoms in. The entire house is highly equipped to cope perfectly with large groups, with 2 fridges, 2 dishwashers and 2 washing machines. Seven bedrooms offer a variety of sleeping arrangements, with two of the rooms consisting of versatile zip and link beds. Plump duvets and plush linens promise a restful nights sleep. Behind the property is a spectacular heated swimming pool, 1.4 meters deep, and perfect for a leisurely swim and fun in the sun. Make the most of the comfy poolside seating area and cushioned sun loungers, which will come in handy in those warmer summer months. The pool area is fenced off and fitted with a child safety gate for that extra peace of mind meaning that the whole family can enjoy the pool. Beside the pool you'll find a wonderful walled kitchen garden, packed with fresh and seasonal herbs and vegetables for guests to help themselves to. Lush, well-tended grounds surround The Downes and make for pleasant afternoon strolls. The tennis lawn stretching out before the property is one of our favourite features, complete with an umpire's bench to call the big match, why not create your own mini Wimbledon at The Downes? Layout a picnic blanket on the slopes with a cool glass of Pimms, some strawberries and cream and really get into the Wimbledon spirit. The fun and games continue around the corner of the main house where The Downes boasts its own Games Barn. This clubhouse is well equipped with both table tennis and table football as well as a flat screen TV and full Sky package. This is the perfect rainy day entertainment. Children will love exploring the grounds, playing hide and seek amongst the mature fauna and happening upon the swing and slide set. The surrounding area offers an abundance of family days out with Westward Ho beach just a 10 minute drive away as well as the beautiful Saunton Sands and Woolacombe just a little further. The famous and picturesque Tarka Trail can be easily accessed at the bottom of the drive and offers a fun family tour of the surrounding countryside. Further to these fantastic additions the grounds were previously open to the public for horticultural tours outlining not only just how wonderful the architecture is but also its immaculate gardens along with its beautiful selection of rare trees, shrubs and flowers. The house and grounds are wonderfully secluded up a long, private driveway, where there is plenty of parking, far from the main road.
