An exceptional apartment overlooking the Place des Vosges, one of the most beautiful squares in Paris, offering you the unique opportunity not only to visit one of the city's finest architectural landmarks, but also to stay in one. This 120-m2, second-floor apartment consists of an entrance, spacious living room, one large bedroom, dining room, kitchen, study and bathroom. The main rooms are all in a row along the front of the apartment, with tall windows that let in plenty of light and offer a splendid view of the square. All rooms have high ceilings, and all but the entrance and bathroom have hardwood floors. The bedroom has a double bed, large closet, and chest of drawers. There is also a day bed in the study, but the study is located between the bedroom and bathroom and is thus not totally private. The dining room is furnished with an Italian-design glass table that seats six. The bathroom has a bathtub and walk-in shower. The kitchen is fully equipped. There is Wi-Fi, a TV and DVD player with an assortment of films, and a stereo with a large selection of CDs. There is also a wireless printer in the study. The apartment is perfectly located for discovering and enjoying Paris on foot or by public transport. The Marais, rich in history and renowned for its architecture, is a delightful area to roam around. Along its narrow streets are splendid mansions dating from the 17th and 18th centuries… and trendy boutiques. The Picasso Museum, the Opéra Bastille, the Pompidou Centre and many art galleries are an easy walk from the apartment. A stroll down to the Seine and across the charming Ile Saint Louis brings you to Nôtre-Dame. The Bastille and St. Paul metro stations and numerous bus stops are nearby, providing easy access to the center of the city (the Louvre, place de la Concorde, Champs-Elysées) and to the Latin Quarter, Orsay Museum and other cultural sites across the Seine, on the Left Bank. The Place des Vosges (originally called the Place Royale) was built by King Henry IV between 1604 and 1611 and is the oldest planned square in the city. The buildings surrounding the square were all built to the same design, creating an elegant and harmonious whole. Their ground-floor arcades are lined with restaurants, cafés, art galleries, and shops, and the garden, with its linden and chestnut trees and four fountains, is a peaceful haven in the lively neighborhood. Over the centuries, the Place des Vosges has been home to famous writers, artists, musicians, actors and politicians. On a practical note, food shopping is easy, with all kinds of shops and friendly merchants just around the corner. One of Paris' largest and liveliest open-air food markets takes place on Thursday and Sunday mornings at the Bastille, a five-minute walk from the apartment. There is a wide selection of eating places, from typical bistrots to outstanding restaurants, in the neighborhood. There is no washing machine in the apartment, but washing and ironing service can be easily arranged on request. Daily cleaning service can be provided as well, and a wonderful concierge lives in the building. Security is excellent. The apartment also has an alarm. Information about shops and restaurants in the neighborhood will be found in the apartment. Safety information and a list of emergency numbers (fire department, medical assistance, etc.) is also provided. We can be reached at any time during your stay if you have questions, and we look forward to helping you have a wonderful time in Paris! This apartment is our main home, so we kindly ask that you take good care of it. No smoking. No pets. Please avoid making noise that will disturb the neighbors.
