Les Hirondelles is part of a traditional white stone building in the beautiful Tarn, close to the historic town of Monesties. The gite, which is situated on the first and second floors of the building, is attached to, but entirely independent of, the main house, where the British owners live. It has its own access stairway and large first floor terrace with a panoramic view. It has been sympathetically renovated giving a modern living space whilst retaining traditional features such as some interior stone walls. Les Hirondelles, named for the swallows who nest around us and keep us entertained with their acrobatics, is situated in a quiet hamlet, in deep farming country. You may hear a tractor going by but other than that the main sounds you will hear will be birdsong and the local cows. The whole property has stunning 180 degree views to the Black Mountains 40 miles (64km) away - on a clear day the Pyrenees are visible more than 100 miles (160km) away. The property has a large, 12 metre by 6 metre unheated swimming pool equipped with loungers and parasols to laze away long sunny days. Please note this is a no smoking property; we do not accept children less than 14 years old; we are also unable to accept pets. A 25% deposit is required to secure bookings; the balance must be paid no later than 4 weeks prior to the start of the stay. A security deposit of ÂŁ150 is required at the same time as the balance payment, to cover breakages or damage. This deposit will be returned, subject to any necessary deductions, once the property has been checked. Final cleaning costs are included in the rental fee. Local Tourist Tax of â‚Ź0.82 per person per night, payable during the stay.. Our local village of Monesties is a small traditional, village, classified as one of the most beautiful in France. There are various events and activities in Monesties and the surrounding villages throughout the year and visitors are welcome to join in with locals in enjoying these events. There are tennis courts available for hire in the village centre. Several villages such as Laguepie and St Antonin Noble Val (both within 30 minutes drive) offer opportunities for canoeing and Kayaking as well as other activities such as high ropes. Monesties is famous for its Mise en Tombeau at the Chapel St Jacques. This is a considered one of the area's greatest medieval treasures, consisting of a sculptural group depicting the lamentation over the dead Christ. Cap Decouverte, about 15 minutes away, also offers many other activities for the more adventurous such as artificial slope skiing and snowboarding and a giant zip wire. See (website: hidden) Albi is just a 30 minute drive away and is a stunning city that has Unesco World Heritage status. The imposing cathedral is a dominant landmark, and right next to it is the newly refurbished Toulouse-Lautrec museum. The old streets surrounding this area are attractive, and also provide shade. There are some beautiful views over the impressive Tarn river. The annual music festival in Albi in July is a hugely popular event with many free concerts taking place over three days. The city is totally given over to the festival with a wonderful relaxed atmosphere in the bars and restaurants as well as at the concerts. The fireworks on Bastille Day (14th July) are spectacular. There are many beautiful bastide towns around to visit, including Cordes sur Ciel, St. Antonin Noble Val and Najac as well as local markets to explore and bring home regional produce to sample. The nearby Gaillac region is also a wine producing area, with many local vineyards to explore and sample the regional wines. Beautiful two bedroom gite forming part of an old white stone house. Quiet farmland setting. Fully renovated modern interior, well-equipped. Wonderful view to the south. Large swimming pool and table tennis available. Beautiful area for walking and birdwatching. Internet access, UK Freesat TV, French TV, Bluray DVD player, and Ipod docking station are all provided.

The beautiful traditional house, fully modernized, dates back to 1830. It is built around a large central courtyard which links all the buildings - the farmhouse, the cottage and the barn (now a games room). We let the whole property out (up to 10 people) or the house without the cottage (up to 6 people). The courtyard is perfect for alfresco meals under the pergola and is particularly pretty lit up at night. Renovation was completed 4 years ago. Renovated to a high standard everything is geared up for comfortable contemporary living - from the well equipped kitchen (including a big American fridge/freezer with ice-maker/chilled water facility) and separate utility room to satellite TV (UK programs), video, music-system, comfy sofas and restful beds with cheerful cotton bedlinen. The games room has table tennis, pool, table football and a variety of outdoor games - board games, books, etc. in the house. The large swimming pool is fully heated. Prices quoted below are for the house only (accommodating 6). The cottage across the courtyard (accommodating 4) is also available but please note if you do not require the cottage we never let it separately so your privacy and exclusive use of the property is assured. For rates for the house with the cottage see website section for house and cottage only (approximately 25% extra). La Poujoulie was featured and highly recommended in an article in London's Evening Standard by one of their travel writers who stayed there. The property, on the edge of a tiny hamlet, has great views over beautiful countryside in every direction. We rent the main house [3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms] accommodating 6 people in spacious comfort. The cottage [2 bedrooms] can also be rented accommodating a further four people, but is not let separately. Arranged around an attractive central courtyard, the property lends itself well to accommodating 1 or 2 families or 2 generations holidaying together. Facilities include full satellite TV including sports, a large games room, bicycles, a fully heated pool & a sunny garden, there's lots to enjoy at home. There are many outdoor pursuits (sailing, water skiing, canoing, golf, etc.) and many interesting places to visit (including Cordes, Albi and Najac.
