The SpaceThis is an very rare original apartment in Golden Lane Estate. Solid hardwood and concrete abound. It is, in my opinion, a perfect inner city space. A very well designed and purpose built flat. Due to the fact that it looks into the complex, the view from the windows belie its location. It is away from the hustle and bustle of the streets on the other side. You see and hear no roads. There is peace and quiet which is a real bonus given the flat is in the middle of one of the world's busiest cities. The building is part of the Barbican Estate. It was designed in 1951 by Chamberlin Powell and Bon. Corbusier was an obvious influence on the three architects. Crescent House is considered to be one of the most important buildings within the whole of the estate. The links to the apartment are numerous. Tubes from Barbican, Farringdon or Moorgate are within short walking distance. Barbican is the closest. A 5 minute walk away. Farringdon will take you directly to Gatwick or Luton Airport. Liverpool Street is two stops from Barbican. There is a train direct to Stanstead Airport from there. To explore the local area the Barclays Cycle Hire is a great option. (URL HIDDEN) There are many docks in the area, the nearest being just 300m away. Clerkenwell is full of world-class restaurants, bars and nightclubs. You can travel to Fuengirola or Marbella or places in between. If you want to travel then car hire is recommended.         The SpaceOur gorgeous beach bungalows are situated just back from the world famous Nungwi beach, and yet you can still hear the sea. The beach is just a minute walk away through our tropical garden and takes less than a minute to reach. Our bungalows are spacious and clean and have a king size bed, which has a safe underneath for your valuables for peace of mind. There is an en-suite bathroom with a shower, and towels are included. Each bungalow has its own private terrace where we serve you breakfast which is included in the rates. We only have four bungalows on our site which guarantees peace, tranquility and privacy. Our bungalows are perfect for families as well as romantic get aways. It is however possible to book all four bungalows for large family holidays or special occasions. We have a 24 hour reception where you can purchase cold sodas, beer or tea and coffee anytime. Our on site manager speaks very good English and is always on hand to answer any queries. We are also able to offer you advice and information on the many and varied excursions available on Zanzibar and are happy to signpost you to reputable excursion agencies. We have our own sea water aquarium on our site and our guests are able to swim with the turtles when ever they like. At present we are the only place in Zanzibar where this is possible. Our turtles are often brought to us after they have been caught in fisherman's nets and have been injured, and once they reach a certain size we release them back into the ocean. There are many wonderful places to eat close to our bungalows, mainly located along the stunning beach. Our local fisherman pride themselves on their catch of various fish and lobster, and you won't find fresher fish anywhere than in our local restaurants! Obviously we suggest that guests use their common sense when visiting areas where poverty exists. We would advise to not walk alone at night, especially if carrying an expensive camera or other valuables! The people here are very friendly and are used to tourists. if you show you respect, you will get a very warm welcome. Zanzibar is predominantly a muslim area and so we suggest women keep their shoulders covered when not at the beach. We also suggest to ask the locals before taking photos.         The SpaceSet in a beautiful garden, this is a small rustic ecolodge built by myself over the past 9 years. There is no running water, but water is taken from the well for your bathroom. I now have electric, so you are able to have a fan and charge electronics. There is mosquito nets and fan for your comfort. I have a vegetarian restaurant and am happy to cook your evening dinner as your breakfast is included. I am two minutes from the beach in a beautiful secluded spot. A getaway paradise. Through the winter months, there is Thai yoga massage available. It truly is a spot for meditation, yoga, tai chi or massage in my beautiful retreat garden. Garden, hammocks, seating areas outside in in a wooden framed room adjoining the bedroom. I am available in the morning for breakfasts and in the evening for evening dinner and any entertainment you may wish ie., drumming. My evening is free to make guests comfortable. It is 2 minutes near the beach and there are no shops or big buildings, just a small walking path. You can see green and nature everywhere and has not been spoiled by a concrete horizon. Cheapest option: From Butre village (7 mins) there is a small mini bus to Agona (2 cedis 45 minutes). From Agona the nearest big town, you can get a small mini bus (tro tro) to Takoradi major town (2.50 cedis 45 minutes). From Takoradi to Butre a taxi costs 60 cedis and takes 45 minutes. It will drop you outside my door without going through Butre Village. Otherwise a cheaper and longer option is mini bus from Takoradi to Agona then the mini bus (tro tro) to Butre village with a walk of 7 mins to my place. Please make sure you speak to me by telephone as internet is not available. I do have a dongle for internet but reception is not always good, so always make sure we speak on the telephone. Where I live on another rough road there is no public transport, but you can get a taxi for 60 cedis to Takoradi or 40 cedis to Agona. Butre village is a 20-25 minute walk away. Other Things to NoteWhere I am is very remote. You need to book to get my phone number. From then on, keep in touch with me by telephone. I have no internet access as there is no signal. Reception is not brilliant. MTN doesn't work here but vodafone does. If you do not get a reply, don't worry, I may have to walk to the end of the garden to receive the call or make a call. If you don't hear by internet don't worry, we can be in touch by phone, but you need to book it in order that the phone number is given to you.

If the traveler decides to come by rental car, there is plenty of parking space both in Wadi Musa and the Bedouin Village (Umm Sayhoun) and is free of charge.                         The Wilcox Lodge is a serene retreat nestled on 5 wooded acres on the shore of Gorge Harbour, Cortes Island, considered by many to be the best of the Evergreen Islands. These islands are located on the famed 'inside passage' used by ships going to and from Alaska and are sheltered from winter Pacific storms by Vancouver Island, one of the largest and most interesting islands in the Northern Hemisphere. Cortes Island is served by regular scheduled ferry service from Campbell River. Campbell River on the east side of Vancouver Island has scheduled airline service from Vancouver (host city to the 2010 Winter Olympics), and charter service direct to Gorge Harbour is available from Seattle, Victoria, Vancouver and Campbell River. Cortes Island is in the 'rain shadow' of Vancouver Island and has far less precipitation than Victoria or Vancouver. Weather is usually warm and sunny with cool evenings May thru October. The Lodge is situated just above the beach with a panoramic view of the harbour and a view thru the harbour entrance of Vancouver Island mountains in the distance. Wildlife abounds. You may see bald eagles and many varieties of birds, deer down by the beach or out the kitchen window, sea lions, seals or an otter playfully swimming by, mink, and perhaps dolphins or a whale on the ferry ride over. With nearly 1,500 sq. ft of living space, the Lodge has all modern conveniences, a full well-equipped kitchen, comfortable and spacious living/dining area that opens onto a large 750+ sq. ft. L-shaped deck with hot tub overlooking the beach and harbour. 2 chaise lounges make for lazy sunbathing/reading afternoons on the deck and the cafe & dining tables are a perfect spot for outdoor dining. Anyone for oysters on the barbeque??? Gaze at the stars during a night time soak in the hot tub. Stairs off the deck provide access to the beach over a short but bumpy path. The Lodge sleeps 6: 2 in the lower loft (California King sleigh bed with McCroskey firm mattress & box spring), 4 in the upper loft (double bed and trundle bed with 2 twin mattresses). The Lodge is an 'A' frame with an open floor plan, the upper loft is accessed thru the lower loft and both lofts are partially open to the main living area (so no bedroom privacy). The bathroom has a sink, toilet, shower and a clothes washer (dry your clothes outside on the clothes line, they will smell so fresh and good); there is also an outhouse. You can putter around in the overgrown small flower/vegetable garden adjacent to the Lodge and there is ample parking for several cars. There is a land line phone for local calls & limited long distance, 32' Sony flat screen TV w/DVD player in the lower loft (no TV channels, cable or satellite, just for DVDs), CD player and record player w/record collection just for old times sake. We also have a collection of books, some by local authors, and some board games for the chance rainy day. Feel free to add a shell or two to our display case coffee table in the upper loft or a beach combing find to our entry way beach combers wall. You'll also find a kayak under the house which you can use during your stay. Main thing is to unwind, have fun, enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings... The Lodge is not as remote as it sounds, one neighbor's cottage is close by and can be seen from the deck, others are within walking distance as is the Gorge Marina with restaurant, small grocery, laundromat, gasoline, and outdoor swimming pool & hot tub overlooking the harbour/marina and open to the public. The Lodge is 2 1/2 miles from downtown Whaletown with government dock, post office, church and mini-library. Internet access is available at nearby Trudes Cafe. When you tire of hanging out around the Lodge, numerous outdoor recreational opportunities abound: fishing, boating, sailing, kayaking, hiking, biking, swimming at the Marina pool or Hague Lake, Hollyhock retreat center courses, other beaches to explore...
