The Spaced'Omah is located in the village of Tembi in rural Java - but only twenty minutes from the centre of bustling Yogyakarta the cultural centre of Java governed by a hereditary Sultan Hamengku Buwono the 10th. A respite at d’Omah offers the unique experience of savoring life in a Javanese village untouched by the ravages of time, of enjoying breakfast on the edge of rice fields ever changing according to the season, to walk the cobbled streets with the friendly charming people of the village and also importantly to have a base with all modern conveniences from which to explore the important attractions of the area Borobudur, Prambanan, the Sultans Palace and others. d’Omah also offers the facilities of a retreat, with a spa and fitness centre within the compound as well as the opportunity to practice yoga. Recently added in a large 250 square meter facility combining a gallery and meeting hall ideal for receptions, business meetings and other activities. Tembi was just a typical Javanese village until Indonesia's handicraft guru Warwick Purser decided to move there and establish the design, production and export facilities of Out of Asia the company he founded which became Yogyakarta’s largest exporter of handicrafts. The purpose was to explore how a rural community and a commercial enterprise could work hand in hand to each group’s benefit. Profiled in TIME Magazine and many other international and national media, Tembi and its outlying areas is now one of Indonesia's major bases for handicraft production.

The SpaceHi this listing is setup to assist those searching for accommodation for larger groups rather than just an individual or couple. Airbnb lists each room as a seperate listing and as each room is really only designed for a couple, a group searching for accomodation for more people is unlikely to even see our listing in their search query, hence this shared listing. Yabbiekayu is slowly but surely expanding, currently we have 3 Bungalows with private bathrooms and 2 Pondoks with shared bathrooms. Hence can comfortably accommodate 5 couples in individual four poster beds. In addition to this the bungalows are quite large and hence extras can be accommodate in spare beds as needed, bringing our total current capacity to around 14 or so. For a better understanding please check out the listings of each individual bungalow. Booking more than one bungalow can be done through each bungalows private listing or by emailing us directly. The SpaceWe designed the house with peace, beauty and environmental sustainability in mind. Doors, window frames and furniture are all made of local teak and mahogany wood, floors are marble, sink basins are natural stone, and the solar hot water heater is our own design and construction. Gray wastewater from the house is channeled to the garden and used to water the plants. The house has lovely wrap-around verandahs and roof decks shaded by a variety of trees and vines, with wide teak benches and lounge chairs perfect for relaxing and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. Many edible treats can be found in the garden including papayas, passion fruit, chilies, and lemongrass, among others. Please help yourself to whatever is in season. As the house is at the top of a hill, the views from our roof deck are spectacular, with volcanoes Mt. Merapi and Mt. Merbabu visible on clear days, and sunsets are often memorable. At night you can enjoy the view of twinkling city lights in the distance as well as fantastic moon and star-gazing. The house has two air-conditioned bedrooms each with a queen-sized bed, and two more single mattresses are available to accommodate additional guests. There are three bathrooms, each with a warm shower, stone basin sink, and western-style toilet. The kitchen has a rustic natural stone wall and is equipped with a modern stove and refrigerator. Complete cooking equipment and dishes are provided. We're sure you will enjoy our beautiful house and garden! Guest AccessGuests renting the entire home have access to all rooms with the exception of one small third bedroom where we store our personal belongings and which we keep locked. Of course guests always have access to the roof decks and garden as well. Interaction with GuestsIf guests have rented the entire home that means we are not in town and will not be able to meet them, however our gardener and neighbors in the village can provide local tips and assistance if needed. The NeighborhoodThe house is located halfway between the bustling city center of Jogjakarta to the north and the majestic cliffs of Parangtritis beach to the south. If you are interested we can give you tips about our favorite local attractions, including the best beaches, water slide parks, museums, restaurants and of course historic sites such as Borobudur and the Yogyakarta Palace among others. Getting AroundTransportation of your own is recommend (car or motorbike) but taxis are also able to pick up and drop off in our village. We have had good luck using the local taxi apps.
