Professionals say that Rusutsu has the best quality of snow powder - very soft and fluffy, covering 37 of its beautiful runs with total lenth of 42 kms, for all levels of skiers. It is just 5-7 mins walking from SAKURA house to access the network of 19 state-of-the-art ski lifts.
Rusutsu is the first Japanese ski domain to be awarded for the "Best Small Resort" by The Great Skiing & Snowboarding Guide, a British ski magazine. According to the survey by View Communications, Japanese NPO, skiers ranked Rusutsu domain as the most satisfying among 48 ski resorts in Japan.
Apart from skiing or snowboarding, Rusutsu area offers a whole range of winter activities, like snow mobile, horseback riding, snow-shoe and cross-country skiing. After all that, it is exceptionally joyful to take a warm bath in the near-by hot springs.
In the summer you can opt for perfect golf fields, amusement park, rafting or go bathing in marvelous Lake Toya.
There are several places to eat and shop in the near proximity. Visitors really love Hokkaido specialties from a brasserie Pirateman and family-run noodle shop Jaga Ramen!
Neighboring towns (20-30 mins drive) offer limitless gastronomy experiences up to a Michelin-star restaurant. Getting AroundNew Chitose Sapporo is the closest airport with extensive international connections. Best way to get to Rusutsu from the airport is by "Resort Liner" buses. Trip takes 2 hrs and costs JPY 3,000 per person one-way.
Several scheduled busses of DONAN Bus Co. leave from JR Sapporo Station every day (JPY 2,100 per person), with extra buses added in winter. The bus stops for a break on Nakayama Toge peak and offers a terrific view of Mt. Yotei, often called “The Fujiyama of Hokkaido”.
During summers, Rusutsu Resort operates free shuttle busses from-to Sapporo JR Station two times a day. Advanced booking for the bus is needed.

Normally the walking distance is not too long, about 700-800 m (0.5 miles), but some people prefer not to bother and rent a ski locker by the slope.
